Mumsnet prayer thread for July

Since the last prayer update there have been three bereavements on this thread alone Onlyjoking's Steve, MartianBishop's husband (who had been presented with his MBE just days before his death) and Evenstar's husband who died very suddenly while away from home.
Our prayers are with them. Special prayers for OJ as she battles with difficult relations. Praying that she will be able to get everything done before she goes away on holiday to Lanzarote to scatter Steve's ashes in a place where they have been very happy.

Praying for CaptainCaveman and MyJobismum as they expect their babies. Praying that there may soon be a positive, acceptable offer on CC's house.

Health problems:- CaptainDippy with a persistent cough. Things are not easy for our Dippy at the moment, please, if you can, concentrate your prayers on her and her family for a wee while.

Podmog can be in a hard place from time to time. Things are looking up, but it's going to take time and patience.

Swaliswan will receive treatment for a longstanding problem, but no problems have been discovered after extensive blood tests.

I haven't heard how PandaG's mum is doing after her lung operation.

We also pray for Nicole, Mary's friend who was taken ill with meningitis while in Cyprus. Her life hung by a thread, but over the past few days she has held her own.
Continuing prayers for Mary's friend Marg who suffered three grievous bereavements in a very short time.

We pray for Suzy that she may be delivered from Trojan Horses. Lord what did we do before we had computers?

We pray for Amber, that she may find the right way to communicate .

We pray for Mary in her studies, giving thanks for recent successes. Also for Weegiemum and Weegiedad, who passed exams at the end of the academic year.

We pray for Notsofarnow and FAQ for wisdom in newly developing relationships.

Welcome to newbies bealcain (and her friend), justabout and PurpleLostPrincess. Hoping to hear more from Bottersnike whose dh40 posted to ask for prayers in a very sudden difficult illness, which fortunately resolved itself quickly.
We give thanks for all on the board who pray for us Notquitegrownup who 'flies by', Jentlydoesit (Podglet), Mufti, Roseylea and Astrophe

And we pray for all of us that we may be true servants of the one living God in the care we give to each other in prayer and practical help.

PandaG · 14/08/2008 13:28

Hello all, long time no see!

still have intermittent internet access, computer still not working properly but also trying to wean myself off MN addiction! LIfe generally ok in the Panda household, been away for a couple of weeks - New Wine was fab, excellent teachi9ng and great fellowship.

My mum is recovering from an op to remove carcinoid (a specific form of cancer) from her lung, was a big shock when it happened, but she is recovering well and it seems she will not need any further treatment.

Prayers for all, I have just spent the last hour reading all the way through the thread.

Hugs to you all xx

hi! was wondering if some of you lovely ladies would pray for me. I had a MMC 6 weeks ago. I keep thinking i'm fine. but i'm not. we have started trying again already, which is right for us. just waiting for AF is hard and also finding it hard to enjoy being mum at home ATM.
thank you

DutchOma · 14/08/2008 14:32

Welcome longlegted. Of course we will pray for you. Any miscarriage is horrendous and to start trying so soon afterwards must be very hard. May you find peace and calm in the knowledge that your heavenly Father cares for you, that He has good plans for your life and that nothing bad happens that cannot be turned to good.

praying myjobismum - are you going to see the Dr?

longlegted - be gentle with yourself, if staying at home is a problem, can you meet up with friends? Do you have anyone round to support you in what must be a difficult time emotionally, and not just your DH? Praying for feelings of peace for you, and that you will conceive again without any problems.

Can I allow myself an "EEK!" I've just agreed to do a "church" placement at an immigration reception centre. This will obviously be a challenging position, but pray that I may do some good there and be able to help those in need...

DutchOma · 14/08/2008 17:26

That is wonderful Mary and a real answer to prayer. When do you start?

They can always "tie the piles off mjim, so they will drop off... (definitely TMI!). I think its at least worth getting them checked out...

DO - I need Home Office clearance and an interview first, to make sure I'm not a raving lunatic, but its to start ASAP. It was a little worrying at first, because it was suggested I work a whole day a week, which would have been extremely difficult. It will be challenging enough as it is, as I will be ministering to people who will most likely be deported...

DutchOma · 14/08/2008 19:09

It will be very challenging if dd's stories about Yarl's Wood are anything to go by. Please let us know when you do start, so that we can cover you in prayer.
MJIM have you got some cream for these piles, does help a bit. I think you should see the doctor too and not wait.

mufti · 14/08/2008 20:41

worst in what respect MARY ?

MaryBS · 14/08/2008 21:30

"The centre has received repeated criticisms from the Prisons Inspector and from others regarding safety of children and adults detained there", other than that it doesn't say, but we ARE talking Wikipedia here..

amber32002 · 14/08/2008 21:44

Blimey, second worst in the country??!

Prayers aplenty for everyone, for health, for relationship crises, for children, for pregnancy worries, for peace and friendship and love.

I'm away for a few days and not sure my mobile will download mumsnet. Off to rainy Center Parcs with very old friends (er, friendship that's old, not them )

DutchOma · 14/08/2008 22:09

Light and salt, Mary, light and salt. And the love of the Lord. That will carry you through. It is an incredible opportunity, but I would certainly go with the address of your MP and the MP that covers the centre in your pocket.

MaryBS · 15/08/2008 07:47

I'm not worried about going in there DO. I'm worried for their sake about the sadness I'll find there.
