AIBU to ask for your prayers?

So my lovely friend's son is currently in an emergency operation to save his life. He has not been well for a long time and he never complains and tries to be the most positive person he can be even though he is in pain. There is a massive history of 30 years of illness. His Mum is the kindest most giving person I have ever met and the whole family are lovely.
She has great faith and I have everyone I know praying for a positive outcome for him but if I could get hundreds of vipers behind him then I do believe the power of prayer could carry him through.
If you haven't prayed in a while even better - God rejoices when a lost sheep returns.
YABU: It will make no difference
YANBU: I will try for you as I believe/what harm can it do.

I will pray for him, his family, and your family now.

I pray that if this is his time his reunion with his Saviour will be full of joy and love, and that the knowledge of that will bring his family some consolation in their desperation at the loss of him.
Condifent in their reunion together in the next life.

May Our Blessed Mother pray for you all in your time of need xxx

She will never fail you. Trust in her.

StellaLaBella · 12/10/2025 02:15

I don’t know much, but I absolutely trust he is going to a better, blissful place and be surrounded by joyous beings welcoming him “home”. Prayers for all who love him, he sounds like a like an exceptional person 🙏

mellongoose · 12/10/2025 09:57

Sending love and energy for a peaceful passing 🙏

So sorry to read your update, OP. Keeping him in my prayers.

Stoptheraintoday · 14/10/2025 05:17

He passed peacefully an hour ago and will be free of pain for ever now.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers.
Please continue them for his lovely family especially his wife, brother and mum.
Lord grant them comfort at this difficult time.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory 🙏

I’m so very sorry OP. It sounds like he was such a brave man. I’ll continue praying for his wife, mum, and brother - may they be comforted by the Lord.

‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit’ (Psalm 34:18)

Antimimisti · 14/10/2025 07:23

I am glad his passing was peaceful. Sending thoughts of comfort to all the loved ones he has left behind. Flowers

Keeping his family and friends in my prayers.

So sorry for your loss.

rainbowstardrops · 14/10/2025 09:45

Oh what sad news to read. Thinking of his wife and family at this difficult time for them Flowers

Keeping his family in my prayers, OP.

Thoughts to you all, especially his family.

A Mum friend from DD's school just lost her sister, seeing her suffering with this only makes your situation feel more real. Can only empathise with the grief you are all feeling.

Well @Fifi2022 your timing is unbelievably crass but I will answer you.

We believe that everything happens for a reason and that it is God's will.
We pray to him because we selfishly want to keep the person with us. We pray for healing, we pray for the ability to accept God's willing, we pray that friends and family have the grace to accept God's decision, we pray for a pain free passing.

My faith has really helped me as has this thread full of kind supportive people.
On this day where I have suffered a bereavement you must be truly proud to call the faith which sustains me mad.

You asked for prayers for a positive outcome, not what you have mentioned just now
I'm sorry for your loss, I truly am
I just don't see why people pray to a God who caused that pain in the first place? It makes no sense.

There is a time and a place for questions like that and today, is definitely not the time!
Maybe start your own thread to ask the question and not make @Stoptheraintodayeven more upset than she already is today. Dreadful.

If you had take the time to read the thread before posting @Fifi2022 or even my last post you would have clearly seen he died a few hours ago.

My faith makes no sense to you and that is fine and your right.
It makes sense to me and all those who believe and that is our right.
Everyone on this thread, even the non-believers, showed kindness and made an effort to comfort someone going through a difficult time.
Even at this time I showed kindness to you and answered your question.

Even if you don't believe in God, surely you do believe in people and the impact you have in this world and could show a little compassion.
Who do you want to be - the person who tries to make a situation better or who tries to make it worse?

Thanks for your support @rainbowstardrops x

You’re more than welcome @Stoptheraintoday.
I’d usually just scroll past but I just thought @Fifi2022‘s post was incredibly insensitive.
Take it easy Flowers

There is a time and place for theological debate.

Please show a little respect, this timing is awful.

@Stoptheraintoday sorry to see your update but glad that he is at peace now, continued prayers for you, his family and all who loved him 🙏🏻

Just no @Fifi2022 - have a little respect.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 14/10/2025 13:54

YANBU. I'll pray as I always do.

It's the mocking and general abuse that gets tiresome. All best ignored.

timesinpunai · 14/10/2025 13:58

I am so sorry for your loss and I am keeping you in my heart and prayers. I will also pray for the person who used this thread to make mocking comments about religion and I hope they take their questions/opinions to someone who can answer them- a priest. If you genuinely want the answers try watching Father Mike or Breaking In The Habit on YouTube. Both answer things like that very respectfully.
I hope you are being well supported too @Stoptheraintoday, I really am sorry for you and your loved ones today.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 14/10/2025 14:00

I'm an atheist and I'm telling you that your comment is crass and unkind in the extreme. A young man has just died and your first thought is to start a theological debate (if you can even call it that) with the newly bereaved. If you can't see how misplaced your comment is then you need to learn a little compassion and understanding, or at the very least some manners.

Antimimisti · 14/10/2025 19:07

Just popping on to say I'm still thinking of you and your friends and hoping you are able to hold onto feelings of peace, and comfort one another, as well as finding comfort through your prayers.Flowers
