Good morning, just catching up on all the wonderful posts here. Elphame hope your heating is running now.

I have had a challenging few days, sometimes it can be hard to find balance in life. Sometimes hings just go out of kilter and then the whole apple cart turns upside for me.
I know I do better with some structure and routine in my life, whether that's work or self care, even though I don't have a job outside the home or work structure.
Having some structure is not so much about limits, but a way of finding stability and boundaries.
I have been working with Saturn over the past few days for insight and clarity.
Today Saturn is square with neptune, squares are conflicting aspects, and way may all feel this impact- well explained here today *At the root of tension is a clash between our need for freedom and spontaneity and our need for structure and stability. Ideally, we can find creative ways to satisfy these diverging needs, perhaps by giving form to our ideals and quest for progress.

Still, rules and limitations are harder to tolerate, but life feels too chaotic without some lines drawn. Attempts to assert our individuality, freedom, and originality tend to undermine our feeling of groundedness and security. Yet, we are not satisfied when we conform. There may be sudden and unexpected twists that force us to do something different or free ourselves from old habits during this period. *

I hope everyone finds balance today!

Oh, speakout, are you me?! That's alarmingly close to how I feel at the moment and pulled in too many directions. Thank you for that, it's put into words a clash I've been struggling with - and clarity is a good start to finding balance, right?!

I think I might start today with a long walk to clear my head a bit. My dreams were full of corridors and steps and I don't really feel like I've slept!

@hilariousnamehere - I also have a couple of businesses and I agree; it's great to have someone to bounce ideas off or even just to have a moan with (and holiday cottage owners have needed a lot of that over the last year!)

Still no heating here - I think we've upset our resident spirit. We've had to replace the stained glass she made in the front door this week as it was badly damaged and beyond repair and since then it's been "interesting".

The burglar alarm went of at 3.30 am and 4.30am yesterday morning which was clever of it as there was no power to it. The logical explanation is it was running on back up batteries and they'd discharged but it doesn't explain the second one. Our neighbours must hate us as with no power to the control unit we couldn't turn it off....

The boiler installers have been commenting on lights flickering

This morning the power failed as the boiler installers walked through the door. Everyone else had power, just not us. Had to call out the network distribution company and they found a fault on the pole (their line but they pay us a way-leave to have the pole in our garden).

If she's trying to annoy me she's succeeding. Next big job is re-decorating the sitting room. It's not been done since we moved in as I love the stencil work she did. Sadly they will have to go - that I suspect will cause more disruption from her.

I may need to go and have a word!

This is something I am very much struggling with at the moment. I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with it. Like you speakout, I'm planning to work primarily from home but I want a sense of connectedness with others too. I don't miss office politics and invariably, even in the loveliest team I worked in, there was some. There may be some sense of entitlement about this but I don't really want to work 'for' someone if that makes sense whereas I was happy to do so when I was younger. My driver around work has changed with more financial security accrued over many years and with dcs still growing up. There is a business hub opening not too far away from where I live (desks available I believe where you can sit and work amongst others in an office environment on an ad hoc basis), this may help, I don't know, it's worth exploring. With all things it is a question of balance. Do let us know if you have any further insights Speakout.

I have just had a lovely long walk which took me near water. I am very drawn to water. I like woodland and hills too but if it incorporates water so much the better.

I'm not sure I have any further insights- but it is good to be understood.
I think balance is something that many of us constantly have to strive towards- like like it's always a work in progress.
Elphame sounds like you have some mischievous energy around. An elemental taking umbrage at disruption in your house perhaps?
In need of a little consolation or maybe some sterner words..

Balance is certainly a work in progress for me.

Are the stars currently aligned for practical matters to be going wrong, I wonder. Certainly feels like it.

I am normally efficient with paperwork but feeling oddly stuck at the mo.

Actually I just feel horribly itchy, scratchy, irritable, tired but wired. Yoga made no difference today. But .i guess some days are just like that.

I’ve been sitting quietly with a tea, enjoying reading all the wonderful posts here- so much food for thought and resonance. I’ve been mulling similar themes too. Thank you everyone for sharing your insight and support.

Some days just need to finish and yesterday's gone now, phew.

We have big changes afoot at work and our work family will be split up. They are not good changes and are being done for financial reasons and not for the good of the people involved. It’s going to be a very stressful and unsettling place to be for the next few months.

Luna I hope tomorrow is better.

sweetkitty I'm sorry, that sounds really stressful. I hope we can hold space for you here to retreat to and replenish.

I'm spinning trying to catch up. 'stuff' has needed my attention of late, but I have a few minutes for brew and a chat with my sisters.

Speakout that is a lovely piece of RQ, it's always good to know the source. Many of my pieces have come from single-person mines too, and many are not as 'polished' as the ones from commercial enterprises.

Elphame Blue John is wonderful,I wonder is there a school in the UK whose pupils have not done the trip in the boat into the mine there? It's a soft stone, only 4 on Moh's scale, so if you're mounting it in a setting, perhaps have the setting a millimetre or so higher than the stone to prevent the stone being worn.

Your fire was truly magical that night! Loving peoples' interpretations. A friend sent me a surprise the other day, Northern Lights Cones to add to an open fire. Highly recommended for a little scry or meditative work. In reality, the colours are intense, my photo doesn't do it justice. Imagine these colours, blues greens and some purples and pinks intensified x 10.

Aerwyna that's a really lovely thought, we need to be reminded of it often. It would be a good thing to tap along to.

BlankTimes thanks for the link, those fire/fir cones look very interesting, I won't share the image that jumped out of the flames to me immediately, perhaps you saw it too, but it made me laugh. I may say when the thread has moved on a little.

It seems to have been a very long week, my energy has been low and not picking up as fast as I like.

sweetkitty, I’m sorry to hear that. I agree with speakout’s wise words about digging in your roots and remembering your strength. I can also vouch for hilarious’ intention of holding space. I’ve been through a very unsettling time work wise of late, this place and the support of my sisters here has been a lifeline for me.

I’m glad the post resonated for others too. It seems so many of us have faced various challenges recently and it’s good to find something that brings comfort.

I’m starting to look forward and wonder what next in my working life. I’ve done the same thing for decades and I don’t want to do that anymore. I’m inspired by all the wonderful women here with your own ventures, all the creativity and strength you have to carve your own way, I know it’s not easy but it’s admirable. I’m not sure I’m in the place or have the skills to set out alone with anything right now. It’s funny when the skills you’ve honed for so long are the ones you know you definitely don’t want to use! I’m hoping the way ahead will become clearer as the space clears. Life transitions are a mixed bag of feelings aren’t they?!

For now, there’s work to be done and the sun is shining where I am. There are crocuses popping up through the lawn and the hedgerows are full of snowdrops. A reminder that there is a season for everything, nature’s tenacity and consistency is very comforting I think.

And oh, I love those colours - I don't have an open fire anywhere in my very 70s semi - the fireplace is fake - but when I'm allowed to see friends again I shall order some of those pinecones for our outdoor fires!

@sweetkitty - I hope it won't be as bad as you fear. I used to hate change at work and would always have a huge mental resistance. I always got used to it at the end though - until the next time.

@BlankTimes -and there was me thinking I was the last coal burner! Love the flame colours. You can buy sachets of the chemicals online and I've used them when running open rituals in the dark to add some visual magic to ritual fires.

Well the heating is finished and for the first time in 20 years the sitting room is actually warm. It's actually too hot and I've had to turn all the radiators down. This new boiler may actually be big enough to heat the house!

The bad news is that the old boiler has to stay in the kitchen which is annoying as I wanted the storage space. The kitchen was built around it and we've just discovered it's actually the support for the worktop. The tiles are laid on it with a layer of fire cement. You really couldn't make it up!

I can at least get rid of the built in fridge next to it now and put some shelving in. We couldn't before at to service the boiler, the engineer had to pull out the fridge and crawl into the space to access it as it was put in sideways.....

It was a genuine comment since there appears to be a wide range of witches.... I see that you appear to take it negatively hence your response, perhaps due to other comments from others previously? 🤔 it wasn't meant negatively at all.
