Elphame, Violet and Speakout enjoy your sojourns into closer contact, hope it's a lovely experience for all of you
Ogress that's a brilliant start, it shows perseverance, you rock!
Welcome back Devlesko good to see you!
Starting any exercise is hard, always remember to do some warm-up exercises first, even if it's only marching on the spot.
Yoga is often seen as an easy type of exercise, it isn't but it's one of the 3 main ones that use the breath as well as movement. Yoga, Pilates and QiGong all do, although they all have individual disciplines which can be much more physical, so if you're going to classes, or doing an online course, choose wisely, i.e a beginners class
I agree, there's a real scarcity of jobs. Just a thought for a few hours a week, are you any good at garden maintenance, no heavy work, just tidying and mowing lawns, trimming back and maybe seasonal planting in the borders. Several family friends are getting on in years and they are happy to pay someone £10 per hour to keep their average sized gardens tidy for a couple of hours per week. These gardeners use the clients' own mowers, but provide their own tools. If you don't have any, Aldi and Lidl often have gardening tools on offer, so a basic layout wouldn't cost the earth to get started.
All you need is a basic kit like you'd have for your own garden anyway and the ability to listen and understand the clients instructions before you do anything, some people aren't good at explaining what they want done, their 'tidy' could be very different to yours.
Basically don't trim any trees or branches during birds nesting season and the Gardenlaw website's good if you're not sure what they've asked you to do is okay with regards to neighbours overhanging plants.
It also gives you closer contact with Mother Earth, free vitaminD from sunshine, relaxation while you're working and the opportunity to find out about natural gardening techniques as opposed to slug pellets, chemical fertiliser and that sort of stuff.
Speaking of which, it's time I was out there doing something with my own garden! I picked some lavender yesterday, put it into bunches to dry it over the Aga, ready to send to a friend who has problems with carpet moths.
This morning, I lifted the lid to boil the kettle, moved one of the bunches of lavender and instantly was greeted with the smell of lavender incense, it had dried so much overnight that a lot of the buds had fallen onto the hotplate. I'd better go and pick some more!
Have a magical day everyone!
