Lord we lift up Your Name.

We give thanks for two new little beanies, Bobsmum's and Podglets?.

We give thanks that Worzella and Roseylea are quite a bit better, we pray for complete healing for both of them.

We also pray for CaptainDippy, not feeling great and struggling with a particularly difficult issue at the moment.

We pray for Podglet as she works through a week of incredible business. Lord we hold her up for Your particular love and care.

We also pray for Mummy2TandF. After the very sudden and unexplained death of her dh she is feeling totally overwhelmed by money worries and grief. Lord uphold her and give her all the practical help she needs. Also help her in answering questions from her ds and help him come to terms with his grief

We also remember Onlyjoking and Steve before the Lord with their three children.

We give thanks with Harrisey that her ds is settling into school and for a few days away. We pray for strength as she copes with the after effects of MIL's childcare

We give thanks with MaryBS for a wonderful holiday and pray for her as she takes up study and essay writing. We pray for her ds and his appointment with the paediatrician on 14th September

Zipadisoozy - prayers for peace of mind concerning ds and his new school. Prayers for him too as he settles into a class with two bullies from his previous school. Let's pray for his protection and right development.
We give thanks, with Marslady for the safe arrival of the two babies she looks after.
We thank the Lord for CaptainCaveman and her ds, who keeps us amused with the wonderful things he comes out with.
We remember Notsofarnow and the difficulties in her relationship with exh. We pray for wisdom

We welcome the new girls Scootergrrrl, Commanderchaos, Sandcastles and Shreksmissus. We pray for Mr Shrek and his very busy life and with him for all dhs who work so hard for their families. May the Lord bless them richly and keep them walking in His way.

Several young children have been brought to our notice for prayer:- Brook Kendrick who lives in Northampton and is very poorly with a heart condition in Great Ormond Street Hospital and C who is known to Bobsmum. He suffers from an inoperable brainstem tumour.

We commit ourselves and all our friends to the care of our great and wonderful Lord and Saviour.

morning all - a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ZipadiSuzy
i too am 46 this month sooz, dont know where the times goes?

MaryBS · 12/09/2007 07:34

Shreksmissus - Psalm 139 is a big favourite

Thanks for your essay prayers everyone. Whilst there is still a lot to do, I feel I've done the most difficult bit of it, and feel a lot better for it!

For those who don't know, I'm Mary, 41, DH is 43 and not a Christian (oo, though, get this, he was joking he WAS one yesterday, as he had been baptised... never heard him say THAT before!), although I'm praying for him (don't tell him...). DS is nearly 6 and DD nearly 8. I returned to church about 6 years ago, having been brought up a Catholic, but only really truly felt a Christian again about 2 1/2 years ago, when I finally felt able to pray for forgiveness. Well, forgiveness is a funny thing, because 18 months I felt God's call to lay ministry. So I responded, never expected to get selected, was, and the rest is history... (or theology ). Every now and again it freaks me out that I heard God calling me! I've just finished my first year of 3. I also "found" this thread at the same time, so many people here have been through all my ups and downs, giving me SO much love and support, I feel truly blessed! I work as a part-time payroll admin when not studying.

This verse made a huge huge HUGE impact on me at the time:

Luke 7:47
Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which were many, have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.

Happy Birthday Sooz! Enjoy the balloons.

Good morning everyone and special welcome to Shrekmissus Geekymummy and Slim.

I'm Jo - dh not a Christian - dss 7 and 4 and exhausting!

I'm really struggling to settle down to any routine after the summer holidays at the moment. I know just what you mean NSFN about having time to yourself. It can be overwhelming.

Prayers and hugs for all.

bobsmum · 12/09/2007 10:04

Happy Birthday Soozy!

Intro time then eh?

I'm bobsmum , 31 with ds who was 5 on Saturday (sob!) and dd who's 2.3 and a very very tiny bean who's 7 weeks in the oven tomorrow

I became a Xian when I was 13, but didn't really start trying to live it until I was 18. Was a youth worker/youth evangelist for 4 years before having ds. Now I'm a full time mummy on every committee in the village!

I could do with some prayers for guidance. Ds is having a "health week" at school next week which sounds great in principle but it includes a yoga session which I'm obviously very unhappy about.

I don't want to rock the boat so early in the term, but dh and I are very unhappy about ds getting involved in this. Should I speak to a teacher? Consider taking him out of that session? Would rather lie low and say nothing tbh, but that's not right is it? I should stand up and say something.

Help!

DutchOma · 12/09/2007 10:12

We had the same problem with Hallowe'en. "It is just a bit of fun". No, actually, it isn't.
So we did speak to the headteacher about it and actually managed to get is changed to a 'light' party.
I'm not so aware of why yoga should be bad for a 5 yr old, especially not if it is approached from a 'health' point of view and not a spititual one.
Maybe speak to the head and make him/her aware of your worries, they probably haven't a clue why you are worried.

OP posts:
bobsmum · 12/09/2007 10:17

I think the problem is,you can't really separarte yoga from it's origins which is a Hindu form of worship. Each Yoga move/pose represents an animal or god to be worshipped and I'm definitely not keen on the meditation bit. The basis of Yoga is that we all have a serpent living within us, near our spine I think called the Kundalini and that needs stretched and nurtured or something.

Have a look at the Wikipedia entry - don't normally take wiki as the source of all knowledge, but it's a good start

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoga

bobsmum · 12/09/2007 10:18

This bit I don't like at all:

"bhakti itself is the ultimate goal of the yoga process[62], wherein perfection culminates in an eternal relationship with Vishnu or one of his associated avatars such as Krishna or Rama.[63]"

notsofarnow · 12/09/2007 10:52

bobsmum I once pulled dd out of classes because they were all about witches I couldn't get the teacher to see my point that they were making withcraft ok in a childs eyes and she was a Christian. Her words were that its only a bit of fun.

But now looking back I don't know if I would do the same again. DD was sat outside on her own to do seperate work, think if I had my time again which I will with the younger two I would let them join in and reinforce at home why we don't agree with it.

I know some ladies that once went to a Christian yoga group. I suppose its like a lot of things really at source their not good but the further up the ladder you get from base the weaker it is iyswim.

sorry i've rambled hope that makes sense.

ZipadiSuzy · 12/09/2007 11:12

bobsmum - will they be teaching the children the history and meaning of yoga or is it just for the exercise?

Oh and thank for the many wishes for my birthday, started off x bad, but praying hard to not let it spoil my birthday.

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2007 11:19

Makes perfect sense, nsfn - I wouldn't be happy about it either, bobsmum and I would say something - It is not the actual pyhsical bit of Yoga I have a problem with, by the meaning behind it ...... Stick to your guns!! Praying for you .....

nsfn - Your poor friend having the surgery for the detached retina - ow, ow, ow ..... Praying for quick recovery - Let us know how she is when you manage to call her....

Praying for your DH, Shrek and for your friend and her DH as they contemplate possible move etc .....

I don't read the Word as much as I should either, geeky [blush So prayers ans sympathy rhere ..... {{{{hugs}}} Praying for peace and less worry!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOINGY SOOOOOZ!! Hope you have a super lovely day! >>

Prayers appreciated for MNer Vio and her family who have just lost their little son, James to the dreadful skin condition EB.

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2007 11:19

Why a bad start, Sooz!!!? {{{hug}}} {{{hug}}} xxxx

bobsmum · 12/09/2007 12:05

Zipi - if I could be sure it was just your average common or garden yoga instructor from the local gym then I would probably be reluctantly ok about it, but I have a feeling she's from the local New Age centre, so there might be more to it. Just don't want any kind of foothold in my wee boy's school.

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2007 12:18

I would take it to the Head, bobsmum, really I would - Praying for you hon. Hope you are feeling ok today. xx

Gotta get DD2 and DD3 up and fed, pick DD3 up from Pre-School and then off to the Sheep Centre ..... Whooooop! Come on dad ......

Laters. xx

TheQueenOfQuotes · 12/09/2007 12:22

Thanks for your prayers the other night - I made it down to see him yesterday (though am totally shattered todays as a result - Bristol and back with a 4hr train jounry with 2 changes each direction is very tiring as I discovered yesterday)

2 days ago he was given hours/days to live his kidneys had stopped working and it was a case of throwing all the drugs they had at him to try and kick start them, or simply waiting for the rest of the organs to shut down - yesterday when I got there his kidneys had started working again, and he was a lot better (though still in ICU). Was really good to see him - although I got into trouble for not taking the baby with me smile.

The consultant has re-ordered the blood test he had done on Monday as it came back completely clear - but on Saturday he had a blood infection - he says it's either a miracle, or the samples got mixed up somewhere along the line. He also got/had (not sure which not particularly "up" on my medical terms) pulmonary oedema too.

Obviously things could suddenly take a turn for the worst again (having worked in care with elderly people I know that often they seem to start making a great recovery and then deteriorate and die quite quickly afterwards) but for the time being things are stable

bobsmum · 12/09/2007 12:22

I think I will CD - she's a really nice lady. Ds' class teacher is also a Christian (local minister's wife! Although I know a lot of Christians don't know much about the roots of things like yoga etc - it does all seem very innocent on the surface, like a lot of things.

Dh is hopping mad, so I'd better get to the school before he has a chance - he would speak first, think later!

Feeling slightly less grotty this morning - having Maltesers for brekkie has been the solution

And - both plumber and solar panel people have visited the house today for final evaluation so it will be all systems go very very soon for central heating! Yay - no more coal fire!!!

Roseylea · 12/09/2007 15:52

Hello everyone!

Happy Birthday Suze! I hope you have a lovely day.

Welcome to Geekymummy - hope you get lots of support from this thread!

I'm praying for all of us who feel very busy atm, with dc settling into the new term.

Bobsmum I'd have a quiet chat with the headteacher if I were you. How are you pg-wise?

Well I am feeling more positive about my x-ray results - the thing is, that x-ray was taken just before a course of ciprofloxacin (anti-bs) so I'm really hoping that the a-bs will have knocked any illness on the head by now. The frustrating thing is having to wait to see a doctor, and then I'll have to be re-X-rayed in about 4 weeks' time to check for improvement.

I am feeling much better; I have been back at work this week and I'm doing okay, although by the evening I'm really tired (fell asleep last night watching "Cook yourself thin" ) So please pry for complete wellness!

Also I am seeing my vicar tomorrow to talk about my vocation and going forward to the next stage towards training for ministry. It is a painfully slow process ; deliberately so, for lots of very good reasons. Least of all to teach patience! My vicar is very honest and aware of what's required, and I'm sure that if he feels I'm not quite right, or quite ready, he'll say so. I'm not nervous though - it's all in God's hands. "Do not worry, for even the very hairs on your head are numbered..."

DutchOma · 12/09/2007 16:36

Very pleased to hear your news Rosey. Hope things carry on improving.
Don't overdo it though, pet, will you.

OP posts:
bobsmum · 12/09/2007 16:46

Hi Rosey - pg-wise - all seems to be ok - feel nauseous and tired so I'm taking symptoms to be a good thing. ALways terrified the symptoms will stop - I hate these first few weeks where you've got no idea if everything's ok and you can't let on to anyone what you're worrying about.

Praying you get all the rest and recuperation you need

ZipadiSuzy · 12/09/2007 18:02

Hia all, had a lovely lovely day, although housework this morning while twins at playschool, then had family round, we've been on the trampoline ALL afternoon (4 hours) even my parents (in their 70's) then friend/someone from work/twins god-parents came round and they all went on trampoline, AM I 4 OR 46

Thank you God for a lovely day

DH just got in from work, not speaking to me so looks like I'll be off out by myself tonight then having to bite my tongue!
