A safe, friendly thread where we can pause, think and count our blessings

Everyone is welcome here. Whether you have a faith or not, whether you are grateful for huge things or simple pleasures, whether you post every day or just once; stop by and join us, we would love to see you.

Struggling today as things a bit fraught in the orchid house but grateful I have a faith.

Lessstressedhemum · 15/03/2020 17:04

I hope things calm down a bit for you, Orchid.

Orchidflower1 · 16/03/2020 13:57

Thank you @Lessstressedhemum things are a bit better today, which I am thankful for.

It’s milder and sunny here which lifts the spirits.

Optimist1 · 16/03/2020 16:54

Spirits well and truly lifted here, too, @Orchidflower1 ! Sunshine is definitely nature's mood enhancer.
My lovely kids keeping tabs on their mother (although I'm not in any need)
A great night's sleep last night

Orchidflower1 · 17/03/2020 15:31

My new top arrived today. I treated myself and it came today. I’m wearing it 🤪

Lessstressedhemum · 18/03/2020 11:21

We are in isolation as I have a pretty bad cough so I am grateful for

Our internet access
My kindle
Netflix/prime
The fact that my kids are grown up and can deal with themselves

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 18/03/2020 12:01

Agreed, Less - technology is a massive help in making the isolation bearable
I'm thankful that family arrangements that were made some months ago and had me feeling aggrieved have actually proved to be ideal in the current situation
Learning about the kindness and ingenuity of so many people in the face of all the restrictions placed upon us

Orchidflower1 · 18/03/2020 12:25

The kindness of neighbours. They left chocolate in my porch for dc. They are elderly and so brought Easter chocolate round “ because I got it a while ago in case I couldn’t get out” brought a tear to my eye.

Hope you feel better soon @Lessstressedhemum

Orchidflower1 · 19/03/2020 14:44

I was able to get soya milk for ds today.

Dh has been able to buy us some fresh fruit.

Lessstressedhemum · 20/03/2020 11:10

I am grateful

That no one in here has killed anyone yet😃
Ds2 seems to be on the mend slightly today
No one else, except me, seems to be showing any signs of illness at the moment
Ds1, in England, appears to have got of lightly in spite of his adthma, (all supposing it's the coronavirus that they have had and not just flu)

OP posts:
Orchidflower1 · 20/03/2020 15:19

Glad the Dc have improved @Lessstressedhemum and hope you do too.

I am grateful that- dh has brought home seed trays and compost so should we have lockdown he can live in the shed potting stuff up!

Number3or4 · 21/03/2020 06:51

I’m grateful that the local leisure centre has been closed. I been arguing about it with dh who want to take our dc swimming & he himself wants to go to the gym. I may be a bit over protective I realise that, but I really don’t fancy catching the virus at 30 weeks pregnant! I’m very grateful he had to self isolate until now.
I’m a also very happy that it was only a fever he had and he recovered (without infecting us to).

Orchidflower1 · 21/03/2020 17:30

Im grateful for the short stroll today with dc and dog. Saw one person and crossed over!

I’m grateful for the sunshine this morning.

Orchidflower1 · 22/03/2020 07:56

Phoning my mum.

The pigeon family building a nest in my garden.

Lessstressedhemum · 22/03/2020 09:43

Watching the birds at my feeders
The DS3 was able to drop some shopping off for my dad yesterday (he doesn't live at home so he isn't isolating)
That we are 4 days in and no one has commited murder yet😃

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 22/03/2020 12:09

A lovely drying day
Long phone calls from both of the kids
Technology that makes the current situation a lot more bearable

Orchidflower1 · 22/03/2020 17:35

Ditto the great drying day.

I’m also grateful that I’ve discovered how to do multi person what’s app conversation although I’m aware I’m a bit late to the party!

Orchidflower1 · 24/03/2020 13:39

Yesterday I was grateful for listening to my dc play in the garden.

Today I am grateful my milkman brought me fresh milk.
I am grateful for the sunshine and another good drying day.

Lessstressedhemum · 25/03/2020 11:04

Likewise the milkman, Orchid. Ours brings us fresh fruit juice too, which I am very grateful for

Listening to birdsong
My sister in Australia was able to take my dad on a virtual beach walk with the dog. If he can't get out at least he can spend time with people this way.

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 25/03/2020 11:39

Genius idea of the beach walk, Less . Has your dad discovered the delights of GoogleEarth?

The cheeriness of people I passed (at a safe distance) on my walk in the sunshine this morning
Continued challenges and occasional chat with sundry opponents on Words with Friends
The knowledge that our community is offering support to those who need it

Orchidflower1 · 25/03/2020 12:57

Fabulous idea about the virtual walk @Lessstressedhemum.

Today my dd birthday card came from Amazon. It’s not her bday for a little while but we will probably still be in lockdown so I wanted to get one.

Orchidflower1 · 26/03/2020 17:05

I am grateful that I’ve been able to secure a shopping delivery for tomorrow. Fingers crossed it comes.

Orchidflower1 · 27/03/2020 06:43

I slept better last night.

It’s another sunny day here.

Lessstressedhemum · 27/03/2020 10:51

The Moderator's wee daily message over Facebook
Keeping in touch with folk via face time etc
Watching the birds at the feeders
The cat has decided to come upstairs and join me in my quarantine😃

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 28/03/2020 05:40

Dsis seems to have got over the virus, and her DH and DD too. Fingers crossed. We are loving WhatsApp right now as we live on different continents.

Birdsong in the morning now that there is little or no traffic on my street.
