@VioletCharlotte@ thank you so much! I'll take a look!

I've just raided Ebay, thanks to a link on hereof...I'm a "woody" sort of person, I guess- so I've bought Frankenstein, rosemary, and a few others. Also some yellow tea lights.

Tomorrow I'm aiming to wake early, venture further than the balcony to have my first cigarette (I have anxiety- bordering on agoraphobia at times...I've sure picked the perfect religion to explore haven't I? 🙄🙄) then meditate for a while before waking the DC.

Usually its languish in bed drinking coffee, then throw on a hoodie. Nope- tomorrow I actually get dressed, do something with my hair and use the "me" time for something more fulfilling.

I'm inspired by the "food mourishment" aspect of it all too. I have anorexia, and after reading all your posts, today- just today- food seems less of a threat!

I feel I've been thrown into this, and that the God/Godesses have been working behind the scenes to sort of prepare the scene, if you like: I was literally thrown into Cornwall a few months ago from Oop North. Where better to experience a massive spiritual awakening?

What appeals is the fact that it's all on me! It starts with me. And I've had it in me all the time.

InTheTempest · 10/03/2020 21:19

Speakout, Violet and Yashmis thank you all so much for your kind words and suggestions. Violet I definitely think there's something in what you say about finding it harder for those who are more intuitive/not so logical. And definitely being predisposed to anxiety doesn't help.

Speakout I hope you enjoyed the pampering session, you thoroughly deserve it!

Just a little update- I had another lesson today and it went pretty well. I popped some rose quartz in my pocket today, it's one of my favourites and have a little comfort. I was musing on things a little and I know that driving isn't really the issue- I've overcome all my anxieties about it now, but my progress is being hampered but general anxieties that have built up, one by one. The work situation has tipped the balance; sadly my current job has added to my stress, which is a shame as it had been very good up until the past couple of months. I have a GP appointment and I think I want to try some medication for now but am definitely going to try your suggestions. I've always wanted to try yoga- I think YouTube would be a good place to start. I'd be surprised if it were peri-menopause (I'm 32) but not impossible I suppose. Oh dear there's no hope for me in a few year's time is there 😂

Shrimpy welcome, I hope the thread helps give a little peace to you. What a beautiful place Cornwall is to be.

I love essential oils, I think it was Speakout who recommended www.freshskin.co.uk/ as a good place to buy them from. The prices are excellent, I'm currently waiting on a rather large order! If it were me I would probably choose Lavender, Rosemary, Orange, Rose Geranium, Ylang Ylang and Frankincense, maybe Sandalwood too, to get started with, those are some of my favourites.

Laura Daligan's podcast is a lovely place to start, and I also found some nice meditations on my Amazon music by Alice Geddes-Ward, I'm not sure if these would be any good for you.

ShrimpyTheGnome · 10/03/2020 21:26

@InTheTempest@ that's hella useful- thank you!

I think I've found my home 😍

speakout · 11/03/2020 11:38

InTheTempest glad to hear you sounding more positive.

ShrimpyTheGnome lovely to hear you have found your tribe!!

Also on the subject of essential oils, I have found another great supplier- Mystic Moments- www.mysticmomentsuk.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwmKLzBRBeEiwACCVihm1KLhQG40YtvaL2zZFLLn8bupl67rqS6gMukN1KUZxmTyPUt0vKaxoC7u0QAvD_BwE

They also sell on Amazon and ebay. OIls are very inexpensive, and everyting I have bought so far has been great quality.

I looked at Mystic Momsnts on Amazon- I was going to pop back and ask if anyone recommended them! Thank you!

This morning has been FAB! I usually get stressed about the mess (two messy DC) and spend a while in a state of procrastination, before doing half the tasks I've aimed for.

Today I opened all the windows before I did anything else. Instead of focusing on the mess in the room, I focused on the open window: what I could hear, smell and sense. It made me want to make the room I was in as peaceful as the atmosphere outside...and it's all done!

Not only that, but I'm actually cooking soup from scratch for lunch- just for me! I don't usually bother! I usually skip it.

I woke up wanting to respect myself today. That does involve some cleaning- I can't properly relax if a room isn't tidy. But I'm lighting a candle in every room as I go around.

Speaking of candles: random question. How important is it to let a candle burn down totally when using it for a ritual? I'm thinking of ordering coloured tea lights because they're smaller- but if it's not essential for them to be spent, I can just get longer ones?

speakout · 11/03/2020 12:17

ShrimpyTheGnome

Lovely to hear of your magic in action!!

There are no rules about candles in rituals, I can tell you what I do, but others may have different ideas.

I use tea lights and don't reuse them- I let them burn out.

I know some people re use candles and perhaps cut off the top inch or so and purify them- but personally I don't.

But do what you feel is right.

OP posts:
ShrimpyTheGnome · 11/03/2020 12:30

That was my thought: the tea lights feel "right".

Quick pit stop in the wacky race that is my life at the moment.Shock

Lovely to catch up and feel the warm glow of the aga and our collective energy ❤

And very pleased to discover some more interesting wormholes to explore Grin

And of course a big hello and welcome to our new members!

Re essential oils: the three I use most are lavender, orange and lemon. The first sprinkled on my pillow, the other two in the shower. Basically to soothe me to sleep and wake me up - I don't know how I managed without spa showers before! Thanks for posting the links to the reliable and affordable suppliers InTheTempest and speakout as I keep meaning to be a little more adventurous and would love some rose oil.

InTheTempest, please forgive me if this is wide of the mark, but regarding anxiety, your driving and job, I feel that I want to tell you to be gentle with yourself. IIRC you've been through a lot recently, huge changes and emotional upheaval. From what I have read, you sound strong, brave and loving with lots to give, but have been battered and bruised by what life has thrown at you recently. Things like that can really knock our self confidence and make us doubt ourselves in things we would hardly have thought about before. I remember reading discussions from quite a way back about shadow work and loving, nurturing, healing our inner child. I found it really hit home with me and it's something I know I personally want and need to explore. Some of the other lovely witches on here will have wiser words I'm sure, but I feel that I want to encourage you to be patient with yourself, and to give yourself lots of love.
Again, I apologise if I'm being presumptious or speaking out of turn. But sometimes I think we women and mothers are so focused on keeping it together for others, holding them up and loving them, that we forget to do the same thing for ourselves.
I wholeheartedly recommend Yoga with Adriene. For me it has been amazing. I started with her 30 day challenge in January this year and it has brought me so much. I feel stronger both physically and mentally/emotionally/spiritually. Some practices actually moved me to tears, but in a good way!

Much love to all.

InTheTempest · 11/03/2020 17:32

Rosebuds you're spot on I think, definitely not wide of the mark! It's a cumulative effect for me- 18 months of massive upheaval and ongoing difficulties with horrible ex. I'm not surprised that I've reached the point where I've said no- I can't keep doing this. I'm definitely going to be kind to myself- I'm proud of lots of the things I've achieved anyway. The driving will get there- I'm going to keep applying for new jobs as my current job is really adding to the problems now.

Thank you so much for the kind words, it really does help to read this thread and see the encouragement and support- it reminds me of my own resilience and the resilience of women.

I'm definitely going to try yoga, I need to practice meditation some more too, and learn to switch off a bit more!

This is definitely something to hold on to! You go, girl!

speakout I work with a particularly closed-minded, misogynistic management team. Most of my opinions are the polar opposite of theirs. In the seven years I've been working for them I've gone from being naively optimistic that I could make a difference, through confused, frustrated, a little bit belligerent (with LOTS of speaking out of turn!), downhearted bordering on depressed when the mismatch became glaring, to finally calm acceptance that I am not in the right place, and am now actively searching for another job.

We are a tribe who welcomes bold words!! We are a flat organic tribe. No one is in charge or controls.

Smile And that, too, is what makes this place so valuable!

ShrimpyTheGnome · 11/03/2020 19:46

I'm getting ready to join some of you for an 8pm candle light. My 12 year old DS really wants to join me- seems he's been exploring this for a while!

I can sympathise with your workplace.
Some years ago I worked in a large research facility- as technical staff.
I was the only female in a department of 70 men. I worked hard, was twice as productive and energetic as many of my colleagues, but became soul destroying after several years. I became tired as the "token female", endless flirting of bored colleagues, the butt of jokes and being treated as a novelty. There was no agression or anger, but I was tired of comments and looks as I did somethmmg simple like cart a nitrogen cylinder down a corridor on a trolley.
I left. I couldn't fix it either.

I have empathy.

Glad you could join us.
Just having my bedtime peppermint tea as I wind down. DD is getting ready for a night out!! Can't believe the stamina! Her University dance competition team are having a celebration night out at a night club. I can only imagine the fun that 20 highly trained dancers have on the dance floor in a night club when having fun! All trained to a high level, advanced Ballet, Jazz, Modern, a few drinks, and they will let it loose! I wish I was there to watch!

Damn- I'm sorry: I didn't get a pic!

ShrimpyTheGnome · 11/03/2020 20:56

What we did do, however, is complete a binding spell on DS' school bully.

I'm confused about how we knew what to do!

speakout · 12/03/2020 08:59

Woken up to snow this morning! A thick covering, and possibly more on the way. It's so pretty, we haven't had much this year.

Trying to avoid te news right now, but OHs office has closed, all staff have been told to work from home until further notice. However OH has gone in, as he has some hardware work to do, and he is the only one there- so still in isolation!
Working on an order for a pagan shop so hopefully that will lead to some good future business. I orderd stacks of supplies a month ago when I suspected things were going to get difficult, so that will keep me going for some time!
Just sitting making up some spell kits this morning, with my citrus candle burning, and some uplifting music playing in the background.

I hope everyone has an enchanted day. Star

Isn't it funny VioletCharlotte, I lived by the sea and was overwhelmed by emotions, I'm a Pisces which doesn't help. I've just moved inland near a forest and feel so grounded and much more happy. I'm still only 20 miles from the sea so can visit whenever.

speakout · 12/03/2020 09:14

That's so interesting.

I live a 15 minute drive from the sea, 15 minute drive to mountains, my house is surrounded by thick woodland. I am also 15 minutes from the city centre and 20 minutes from a large airport.
I am very lucky.
