Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

The storm is here! No rain so far, just a wild, howling wind shaking the trees and stirring the leaves up high. Both my partner and I are just recovering from a week of illness (me, just a cold thankfully; her, full blown flu) I hope this storm is going to blow away all the dead winter detritus and leave everything washed sparkling clean. May take the opportunity for a quick walk to feel the wind in my hair before the rain hits...

speakout · 09/02/2020 09:01

Ogress a wild night here too, although typically for sleep under a ful moon I have slept the sleep of the goddess- a full 11 hours, punctuated by dreams of flying leaves and clouds racing across a dark night sky. Slept in and missed my gym class- but sleep is such a good activity too!
We are set for a snow storm later today, so things will be getting even wilder! Hang on to your besoms!!

Well my name is apt today!

Another busy week for me, driving lessons, work, my lovely DC. They're with their dad this weekend and I can't wait for them to get home this afternoon.

Love reading all of your updates. @YashmisCrone the long barrow photos are fab, I'm fascinated by these places. That's not too far from me so will definitely try to go and see it for myself.

I'm actually going to Stonehenge later this month very very early in the morning to do the stone circle access, which I'm really excited about. I was thinking of taking a favourite crystal or two to charge them there. Went to Avebury yesterday and had to share this photo of a tree not too far from the stones, isn't it just magnificent, the roots all exposed.

Speakout your wolf spell kit to protect the woodland sounds fantastic. I hope (and have a strong feeling) it will be successful.

@VioletCharlotte I hope your headache has passed, I often feel quite drained around the time of the full moon too. Even if it makes me feel tired I enjoy the effect it has on me!

@RuffleCrow you sound very wise- and I do hope that you get what you want when it comes to this man. But yes focus on yourself before anything else, and all the other things that make you happy. I always wonder about love magic... sometimes it's so tempting but it doesn't often feel right. Only perhaps at a later stage when you're sure the love is there. Maybe carry some rose quartz around with you, I find it comforting anyway.

VioletCharlotte · 09/02/2020 11:48

Despite the wind, I slept deeply for 10 hours. Like you speakout, I always sleep well when there's a full moon, although not so well in the days leading up to it.

Speakout I've been watching the weather forecast, conditions where are you are sound wild! A snow storm will be exciting, but please stay indoors and stay safe!

InTheTempest lovely to see you. Your Stonehenge trip sounds great. I have the same photos of the beech trees at Avebury. Did you get a chance to sit among them for a bit? I could feel their strength and wisdom when I put my hands on the trunks. The Henge shop is good too, I always manage to find a few witchy bits to buy when I go there! My headache's much better thank you. I know what you mean about enjoying the effect of the energy, despite feeling drained. My intuition is always spot on!

Ogress I love the idea of the storm blowing away all the winter detritus. It certainly feels like a lot of clearing is going on, on both a physical and energetic level.

I've had a lazy morning, drinking coffee and reading, I'm making the most of the advice not to go out unless it's essential. I'll take the dog out for a short walk in a bit to blow the cobwebs away, then a day at home to look forward to.

Love to you all 💕

speakout · 09/02/2020 12:05

VioletCharlotte

Yes a deep full moon sleep is very restoring! Glad you are having a peaceful day.
Can't stay inside much, have to take/pick up my mother from church, then take DD into the city for 7pm for a 13 hour shift tonight.
The storm is raging stil here. I will finish my coffee and go out to collect my crystals - they will be sparking with energy after the full moon and storm!!

Keep safe everyone.

InTheTempest · 09/02/2020 12:28

@VioletCharlotte I'm really looking forward to the Stonehenge trip, but hoping the weather is ok for it! Will be a shame if it ends up getting cancelled (although I'm doing this as a perk of my job so hoping work would re-arrange for us if need be).

We didn't stay for too long amongst the trees yesterday, but had a lovely walk along the henge. I love the view from the henge, down towards the stones and the pub and then over the fields in the other direction. And yes I love the henge shop, I bought a Wyn Abbot tea light holder in there yesterday, to add to my collection, and a tree of life journal. I really want to keep a diary but I find it quite difficult, facing up to my thoughts and feelings. I used to write so easily and freely but it doesn't feel natural anymore- I really want to work on this.

Hope everyone is having a lovely cosy day ☕️

Ogress · 09/02/2020 16:19

speakout I also had about 10 hours of the deepest, loveliest sleep last night. I've never really made the connection between the moon and sleep before; that's interesting.

speakout · 10/02/2020 10:04

I hope everyone is surviving the storms- still wild here and snowing now.
Just back from a lovely early morning yoga class, now sitting with my coffee making some talismen. Very dark though- I may have to light some candles.
InTheTempest stoneange sounds amazing, I've never been, we have lots of Neolithic sites in Scotland- including my favourite Scara Brae. I hope you have a lovely time.

It's only recently I made the connection between full moon and deep sleep. I always look forward to a mammoth rest on the night of the full moon- if I am not up doing magical workings!!
My bedroom always seems to have the full face of the moon shining in, so I usually throw open my curtains and moonbathe as I sleep.

Have a magical day everyone!

OP posts:
InTheTempest · 10/02/2020 11:09

Speakout I remember seeing Scara Brae on a history programme years ago and being fascinated- it looks remarkable, and what a beautiful setting. I've been to Scotland once and would love to go again, so many beautiful places. I hope you manage a visit to Stonehenge at some point- I think doing the inner circle access is going to be great and will post some pics when I go.

It's quite light and bright here today- I'm enjoying some peace and quiet, and the chance to do nothing until I pick the DC up from school later. DD loves writing, she wants to be an author, so I've been ordering nice pens and notebooks for her as a treat. I love trying to nurture their creativity, it's the most rewarding thing.

I know podcasts got mentioned on previous threads and I've found a really nice one- I'm not sure if this one was mentioned but it's called Mystical Realms by Laura Daligan. Just lovely and cosy listening, about goddess archetypes, trees, the sabbats and Glastonbury. I'm enjoying it a lot.

speakout · 10/02/2020 12:25

InTheTempest I love Laura Daligan too- a favourite of mine to watch and listen to.

No plans to visit stonehenge unfortunately.
I think we are somewhat spoiled in Scotland as many of our ancient sites, stone circles etc are blessed by few visitors!
Which means that access is often completely open and often likely to have few or even no other visitors!

I know places like Stenness or The Ring of Brodgar are very open for people to walk around, touch stones etc.

Speakout she has a lovely warm aura about her doesn't she, makes the topic she's discussing very accessible.

Those pictures are beautiful, would love to visit those at some point. It must be fantastic being able to go amongst the stones there and not be surrounded by other visitors. I much prefer Avebury to Stonehenge- the way the village was built within the circle is something to see in itself. The new visitor centre at Stonehenge was necessary and very well done but it's a shame that you can only get close to the stones (and even then not touch them!) by paying a rather large price to do so. Unless you go for Solstice of course.

YashmisCrone · 10/02/2020 19:58

Just driven home guided by the most incredibly beautiful moon- so big and clear in the sky amongst all this wild weather. Gently yet powerfully infusing peace after a long day.

About to light an 8pm candle and looking forward to catching up with everyone’s posts- always so grounding 🙏

YashmisCrone · 10/02/2020 21:10

speakout your wolf spell kit sounds fabulous. It’s going to be sparking with some powerful energy what with your wolf magic, the full moon and the storm. I’m joining Violet in sending some supportive intention to add to the mix.

Rufflecrow I agree with Violet about your self awareness- great work identifying what you’re craving. Conjure these things in your own energy field and you’ll be a beacon for attracting energy that matches it I think Halloween Wink

Absolutely love the pictures of the stones and the trees at Avebury. I haven’t been to either place and like Tempest, I was fascinated seeing Scara Brae on a history programme. I think it was ‘Sacred wonders of Britain’ with Neil Oliver that I saw it on.

I’m also excited to find a new podcast recommendation- thank you!

So interesting to hear how everyone is affected by the full moon and also the storm. I don’t sleep so well during the full moon but like Ogress, I love to feel the wind in my hair during a storm. It does feel cleansing, clearing and invigorating.

I’m a bit disjointed tonight! But it’s good to sit by the aga with a peppermint tea and feel soothed by sitting amongst likeminded energy for a while Brew

VioletCharlotte · 10/02/2020 21:27

Yashmiscrone I've been feeling disjointed today too. A strange feeling, my energy felt all over the place. I've just been to yoga and happily feel a lot calmer now. I was also guided home by the moon. I hope the peppermint tea soothes you and you begin to feel more relaxed.

Speakout thank you for the stone circle images. I'm lurking on another thread where a poster is planning a trip to drive round Scotland, which is something I'd love to do. I'll add these stone circles to the list. Like you, I much prefer the stones you can get close to and touch.

InTheTempest thank you for the podcast recommendation. I'm always looking for good podcasts to listen to on my commute. I've downloaded this one ready for tomorrow morning.

speakout · 11/02/2020 07:08

Good morning. THanks for everyone's encouraging energy regarding my Woodland Wolf protection kit- so much power attached to it now!!!

I have also felt a little combobulated in the pst few days, despite good sleep.
People and things around me seem settled, no drama, so I am not sure where it is coming from.

I bought myself two fruit trees at the weekend, a plum and an apple. Not the weather for planting right now, but I look forward to the digging when things improve.

Another cold and windy day here, snow has gone but still bitter.
Just about to have a bath, I am feeling cold, and a warm bath always permeates right through to my bones.
I have heard DD up for a while, her sleeping patterns are a bit broken right now after a few night shifts- I may suggest going for breakfast to a local garden centre- they also sell nice food, candles and witch supplies!

Off to run my bath- have a great day everyone!

OP posts:
InTheTempest · 11/02/2020 09:39

Very cold here this morning too! But bright and clear.

If anyone has any recommendations for other podcasts they'd be gratefully received. I'm going to have a search myself today.

I'm going to enjoy my day off by reading, pottering around, not doing much in particular really.

Hope everyone has a lovely day ☀️

speakout · 11/02/2020 09:49

InTheTempes

Sounds like my perfect day! I have no new suggestions for podcasts, but would also gratefully receive any suggestions.

I spoke too soon about the snow- it is back with a vengence!

Not sure I will make it out with DD for breakfast, I heard her awake at 5am, but not a rustle of noise since.
I have super acute hearing- and sense of smell. Bad eyesight though!!

I have been writing spells for wolf protection this morning, such powerful imageray to play with. I like to just write down my thoughts and ideas as they come, then leave it a while to set, I'll come back to it later and mould it into shape!

I am having a quiet morning too- candles burning, gentle music playing- listening to the wind howling outside.

OP posts:
InTheTempest · 11/02/2020 09:59

Speakout your DD sounds like she works so hard, I love reading everyone's descriptions of family life. I too have excellent hearing but awful eyesight!

Love the sound of your wolf protection spells, very inspiring. I feel very lazy laying here under a blanket, but it's so cold! I'm enjoying the peace. I've made a start on keeping a diary so will try and write a bit later today.

I'm burning one of my starchild space aromas which smells divine, and am flicking through this book. Very much looking forward to the weather being a little warmer and being able to go outside- and not be chilled to the bone! I love the seasons but am very much craving some warmth.

Loving the cold and bright weather too. Although I’m sure it’s positively mild here compared to further north!

I also like to listen to anything by Starhawk, she doesn’t seem to have her own podcast but a search will yield results of her various guest appearances on others, like this one

Glad to hear you’ve got your fruit trees speakout, I know you’ve been wanting some for a while. I agree with the permeating power of a warm bath.

Interesting that so many of us are feeling disjointed energy atm. I’d put it down to the conflict an change in my world but I’m now wondering what astrological influences are at work..

Technology is fantastic for the modern witch!

BlankTimes · 11/02/2020 19:02

How lovely to see all the interest in the ancient places Halloween Smile

Here's a link you can get lost in www.megalithic.co.uk/

Orkneyjar has a fantastic amount of info on all ancient (and other) places there www.orkneyjar.com/history/sites.htm
You just about do have free rein at many of the sites, but others charge or are on private land or still under excavation, so always check first. Don't miss Tomb of the Eagles it's family excavated and family run on their own farmland so a much different experience to the usual "heritage" tour.
The structures described as Dressers at Skara Brae have also been found at a couple of other sites, Barnhouse and the Ness of Brodgar and current archaeo thought is they were not for domestic housekeeping display and storage, but for ritual use.

Sometimes you'll find sites which aren't visually stunning are phenomenally atmospheric. Most of the time they are both. Some aren't marked with any stones, but you'll know when you've found one.
Never be put off by peoples' stories of places being too busy so their atmosphere is destroyed, to my delight I've found the total opposite on quite a few occasions.

OBOD have a lot of podcasts, there's an index here druidcast.libsyn.com/
I've liked a lot of Phil CG's work for a long time, I don't think he's been mentioned on here before www.philipcarr-gomm.com/

My snowdrops are in full bloom, daffs and aubretia are on their way, first time I've seen 3 female pheasants in our garden, there's often a lone male, rarely a lone female, but today I was gifted a trilogy Halloween Grin we seem to have weathered the storm although I've not closely inspected the roof yet - it's still too windy.
Life's hectic at the moment, I don't have time to post much but I do read our thread every day and join in in the 8's as much as I can.
May you find the magic that surrounds you wherever you are.

VioletCharlotte · 11/02/2020 20:40

Blanktimes it does make me giggle how you pop up when anyone mentions ancient places! It's like you have a radar! Lovely to see you, I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were. That book looks really interesting.

Magical places have been very much in my mind today. I've been listening to the Laura Daligan podcast (Thank you InTheTempest for the recommendation) and it for me thinking about my favourite magical places where I feel closer to 'the place in between'.

Yashmis thank you too for your podcast recommendations. I'll add them to my list. Listening to the Laura Daligan ones on my commute to and from work made such a difference to my day. It lifted me out of 'work mode' and into a happier, magical place.

Speakout I hope you enjoyed your day at home and I hope DD is well rested. Student nurses work so hard, I really admire her strength and determination.

I was thinking about why it could be that so many of us are feeling discombobulated and had a look at what's going on astrologically. We're in the shadow period of mercury retrograde, so that combined with the full moon and the recent storms could well be having an impact on us all. I Yoga seems to be the best way for me to quickly feel grounded and settled, it's like magic! 💫

speakout · 12/02/2020 06:04

Just dropping in with a quick good morning.

Early start here, just grabbing a coffee before leaving the house.

OP posts:
Ogress · 12/02/2020 07:46

I've also been very lucky with the weather. The storm days were a chance for some quality time indoors. I baked bread, read, did some drawing, sorted the house and spent some quality time with my partner. Since then it's just been bracing - the winds have been fierce but my walks have been lovely.

I hope anyone who wasn't so lucky weather-wise is doing OK.

Looking forward to my walk to work today. I can hear the birds outside singing beautifully (...though I think this might be part of an ongoing territory war for my newly installed bird feeder...still, it's nice!).
