I agree YashmisCrone baking and cooking are very magical things to do.
I also think the same about a lot of mundane acts- like sweeping, even opening a window brings in not only fresh air but fresh energy and allows negativity to escape.
Bringing in fresh flowers or foliage energises a space. Hanging laundry outside captures such a lot of energy from the wind, the sun, the earth, I think it has a beneficial effect on the wearer, as well as smelling amazing. I hang laundry outside even when there is snow underfoot- in fact I think clothes that have been "ice dried" have a particular energy and vibrancy.

Yes to all of the above speakout! I love ‘mundane magic’

I’ve been thinking recently about how we connect and tap into the power of the elements.

I’d love to do some outdoor ice work if it gets cold enough here- I’m wondering what you use to mould an outdoor ice candle holder?

speakout · 19/01/2019 15:25

YashmisCrone

I saw a big outdoor candle being made recently in a video- it was about another subject matter, but what they did was really simple.
They filled a plastic bucket with water and left it outdoors until it started to freeze.
Things like this always freeze from the outside in ( ice cubes do the same) and at some point before everthing is solid you will end up with a shell of ice and a liquid centre- all they did was tip out the unfrozen water from the middle leaving a "shell" of ice in the bucket. They allowed that bucket shaped shell to continue freezing, then take it out of the bucket leaving a large ie holder.
I haven't triedit, and I suspect we would need some pretty cold nights to make it at all.
Otherwise I guess you could make a mould, two different sixed buckets, water in the bottom one- you would need some pretty heavy rocks in the interior bucket to displace the water and fill up the sides, worth trying though. I'm waiting for a spell of colder weather to experiment!

You are right about the mundane- magic is everywhere- even making a cup of peppermint tea is a ritual to me.

Thought I'd add this - violet was asking about smudge sprays.

Sprays are nice if you don't want to use smoke, maybe if you have little ones or pets or are smoke sensitive, its a good smoke free alternative:

Smudge spays are easy to make- nothing to go wrong!! I do use traditional smudge sticks- I grow the herbs in my garden, but I do find the smoke a little overpowering, smudge sprays are nice when you want to clear a space and bring some positive energy to a room.

And anything goes- I use different combinations- remember they are not air fresheners, their use is symbolic and energetic rather than just for fragrance.
So you can use some plain salt water in a clean spray bottle- I like to use sea salt, sometimes full moon water or snow water if I have it.
I bless the mixture as I make it, and will use a quartz rystal rod to sir when dissolving the salt, or sometimes pop a small piece of quartz inside the bottle.
It's nice to use some fragrance, I use rose water, lavender water or orange blossom water- you can find them in Asian shops, or you can add your own flower water.
I have experimented with adding essential oils and mixing with alcohol to allow mixing, but I find the amount of alcohol you need to make the oil dissolve is too great, and the resultant smells too alcoholic.
However adding a few drops of oil to the water mixture does acually work, especially if you have a crystal in the bottle- give it a good shake before you use it ( good for adding energy to the mix) and enough oil will become suspended in the water for a short time to allow you to spray.
Bachs Flower remedies are good to add too- expensive but you only need a drop or two- it's the essence you are adding only.

Congratulations and thank you to all on this thread. I am planting seeds for Imbolc and I am wondering about a fire ritual for the 21st.

One consistent thing I have noticed is the change within ourselves (especially for empaths) that as we become stronger and more experienced, we have fewer fucks to give. Certainly as a mother, I am more decisive and selfish when it comes to guarding my health and time for the sake of my family.

VioletCharlotte · 19/01/2019 17:39

Speakout thank you, that's really helpful. I can't wait to make my own smudge spray 😊I like to smudge with sage, but it's not something I like to do regularly. It'll be lovely to have a spray to use for everyday.

TheABC I've been thinking the same myself, following on from Yashmis post yesterday. As I've learnt and developed, I've realised that it's ok not to please everyone all of the time. If people don't like me, then that's ok. What's important is being true to myself. This post popped up on my Facebook feed earlier which summed up nicely what I was thinking...

I was sure I'd posted this earlier, must have closed the tab without pressing post, d'oh!

Violet thank-you, that's a great link.

Yashmis you said " I was looking for a self hypnosis sleep cd I thought I had somewhere. I couldn’t found it but found this one that I’d bought in a charity shop for work:"
I've found this happens so many times. The thing I think I need for a certain objective is suddenly removed from my awareness and something different which will actually work and be much better than my self-diagnosed one appears out of the blue and actually works really well, much better than the one I would have used.

VioletCharlotte · 19/01/2019 19:56

Speakout can we have another candle connection soon? The energy from the ones we did last year was so lovely 🌟

BartonHollow · 19/01/2019 20:01

I must say that after yesterday's discussion about reaching back in time with energies, I did just that and had the best nights sleep I've had in weeks

YashmisCrone · 19/01/2019 20:16

Fabulous speakout, thank you! I’m really excited about trying that Smile

BlankTimes absolutely! I remember buying that cd and the man who served me said “self esteem??” Hmm I obviously wasn’t outwardly presenting as someone who ‘needed’ it and didn’t think so myself either...

It was the same with the Women who love too much book, I’d already read it, wouldn’t have thought to read it again.. Oh. Yes, I get it now! Now I’ve learnt to trust such guidance and love it when that happens.

Violet and ABC yes me too! Important lessons and steps taken, well worth it. On a similar vein to your quote Violet, I like this one too.

Barton that’s wonderful. I think I’m going to do the same

Violet I’ve been thinking about a candle connection too today! I was going to suggest the same thing Smile

Some lovely uplifting messages this evening.

I would love another candle connection- what days and times might suit everyone? Maybe with a nod towards Imbolc to raise uplifting energy and share positive power?

This is such a lovely thread to wake up to.Smile I’m lucky that my parents were good role models for a successful relationship so I felt confident with my boundaries when first starting relationships of my own.

I do think the healing we do on ourselves now can reverberate back. Over the last few years, I’ve done a lot of work on my own younger self and started to stretch back to try and heal some ancestral patterns. There have been troubled father/son dynamics and I’ve realised that my I’m healing my grandmother’s and mother’s relationship via my own relationship with my daughter. The parallel situations were quite striking...

speakout · 20/01/2019 07:22

boldlygoingsomewhere

A bright morning to you!

That's so interesting about the generational work. I love the idea that we can be empowered by and still have the ability to heal things that have passed.

I would also say that I was unprepared for the level of healing that happened when I had my own children.
In nurturing them I felt nurtured too, it was a very healing process.
Especially though the teenage years when I really struggled, being an anchor for my children has given me an anchor too.

My daughter in particular- apart from the years we look like ientical twins, very similar thoughts, same sensitivities.
Giving her what she needed over this time feels like stretching back decades and doing this for myself- hard to explain.
But watching her flying high, feeling safe and secure, understood and listened to makes me feel healed, all the stuff I was going through at her age, making bad choices, poor self esteem, allowing others to control me, she has none of that.
Watching her is like watching a healed youinger version of me, and through that I feel healed too.
And feeling that healing makes me stronger and more able to support those I love- one of those amazing upward climbing spirals of positive energy.

Some of us have thought about an imromptu candle connection today- around sunset?
Short notice, but if you can join that would be lovely.
I'll post details later thos morning if we can get a few to join?

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/01/2019 07:54

speakout, yes, I also found becoming a mother a very healing experience. I definitely nurtured my own small child self at the same time. I wonder if it is common?

I’m up for a candle connection - I have my altar set up ready for Imbolc and a candle ready to go. Grin

Sokere · 20/01/2019 08:09

Hi everyone, I'm not around much today so can't join in the candle meditation unfortunately.

Nice to read how you've healed your younger self speakout. I must admit I haven't been able to achieve that. Maybe it's something I need to address. I have more tools now so perhaps it's time. What I can't do is be mushy about myself (I can about other people) but I'm quite hard on my younger self and have very little patience or compassion. Not an easy task for me....

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/01/2019 08:13

Just remembered that I have a birthday party to go to this afternoon. Might have to light my candle a bit later depending on timings.

Elphame · 20/01/2019 09:40

I can do this evening :)

Frostyapples · 20/01/2019 09:51

@YashmisCrone I really needed that quote this morning, thank you for that. I have been reading this thread for a while but not posted. Would love to join in with the candle if that's ok?

TheABC · 20/01/2019 10:00

Definitely up for a candle connection this evening!

VioletCharlotte · 20/01/2019 10:03

Morning everyone. I can make the candle connection this evening. Looking forward to it Smile

YashmisCrone · 20/01/2019 10:20

Frostyapples lovely to have you join us. Glad the quote was there for you when you needed it Smile

I’m really excited about the possibility of our impromptu candle connection!! I can do this afternoon/evening Smile

I can feel some powerful change energy around at the moment. A lot of hope and possibility. My energies have been up and down but strengthened roots are keeping me steadier. I think this makes me better equipped to embrace changes that may come. I love my tarot pick today. I’ve always been very fond of ace of swords energy.

Sokere I wonder if you might try Violets technique of imagining your younger self as a niece or daughter, talk to her like you would anyone that isn’t you. I think it’s a really good way of softening the energy and getting through your resistance.

I can see how mothering a child can heal our past selves too. That sounds particularly powerful in your case speakout. I was a young mum and ill prepared/equipped. I have to admit I’ve given myself a hard time over parenting and would do some things differently with more maturity. Part of the shadow work/healing I have planned is around me as a young mum, lost and unsure, not always making the right choices.. that’s a sticking point for me in forgiving myself. As ever, a lot of food for thought here. Thank you.
