MarsLady · 27/06/2007 16:23

It's me popping in for a prayer request!

I may need some emergency o/night care and all of my trusted ones seem to be away! Can you pray that I get someone? Ta. Also... can you pray for one of my ladies. Pray all is well with her baby and she has a good, quick, safe delivery. Ta!

CaptainCaveman · 27/06/2007 16:47

Onto it Mars...

Welcome Tasja - I'm 34, dh is 39 and ds is 3.1...click on most of our chat names and see profiles!! (I only did mine this week..)

Prayers needed for dsis in crisis again - now been sacked for not attending work (no surprises there, I wouldn't employ her!!!). Also she is due in court tomorrow for missing another council tax payment, so looks like another ccj against her. She announced last night that she's moving back to our parents (they live 55 miles away in Staffs).
I swing between feeling sorry for her because this is all as a result of the abuse we suffered that perpetuates her life coz she's never dealt with it, and anger that she's blimmin 36 and should bloody grow up and SORT IT OUT
Oh Lord, I give you all my worries, please please help her find peace.
She looks crap too, still drinking too much

And I only wrote about 5 words on my assignment today.

rubbish

CaptainCaveman · 27/06/2007 16:48

Do I sound a little tense?

MarsLady · 27/06/2007 17:12

Well talk about quick answers......... lol!

The o/n care is sorted (as long as it's not Sunday night). Just the birth to go!

Thank you

DutchOma · 27/06/2007 17:25

Thanks again CD, that is lovely of you to say so.
Tasja, I think I know the group you are part of. We are right t'other side of town though. Look forward to hearing from you.
Sorry to hear Neil is back in hospital again, Bobsmum, hopefully it will all get sorted.
I thought about the 'praying for icecream' Mary. I think it is the same question as 'does God care whether we have carrots or brussels sprouts for dinner?' The answer is 1. God cares about every tiny detail of our life ie he has counted the hairs on our head and 2. He gave us brains to use them. Make of that what you will.

MaryBS · 27/06/2007 20:42

Well, I've written my sermon on healing, and I feel like blubbing. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

DutchOma - wise words. I was thinking more along the lines of "is a prayer ever too small to be prayed for?" as opposed to "should God make every decision for me".

I planned to ask the grown-ups in the audience whether they'd ever prayed to get a parking space! (I have! ).

I guess its a question of, should we only pray for selfless things? Paul tells us to pray unceasingly. I try to pray for everything, but not get upset if I don't get it, because God knows whats best for me. If you are going to worry about whether or not you should be praying for it, then you are better off praying for it. That way prayer becomes as natural to you as breathing. That's how I see it anyway.

Philippians 4.6: Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

I plan to tell the children that if everytime they asked for icecream, their parents gave it to them, they'd end up as big as "Father M"

MaryBS · 27/06/2007 20:47

CCM - praying for your sister (and for your parents too - sounds like they'll need it!). Hang in there girl, you just can't help caring!

How are you getting on with your assignment? Take a few moments to pray for inspiration and let Him sending peace and calm in your direction (works for me - I also use those daily prayer thingies from oremus to calm me down)

Bobsmum - praying for Neil

Mars - praying for the lady giving birth!

How is everyone else?

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 21:46

Bum. Just lost my post.....

Anyway - glad sermon is sorted Mary - I am fine, just tired (do I sound like a broken record, or what!!?)

Sooz - Praying that your Nephew finds an opportunity to rest soon, tough job....

Glad the o/night care got sorted Mars!! Praying the lady has a smooth delivery....

CC -

For Sooz .....

Callum / Calum
Derived from the Latin "columba" meaning "dove" and of course St Columba, the 6th century saint who established the Iona community and converted large parts of Scotland to Christianity. It was the 28th most popular name for a boy in 1999.

Finlay
Gaelic, meaning "Fair Warrior"

Amber
Arabic, meaning "Jewel"

Welcome Tasja! Nice to meet another Christian Mummy. I'm an old lady on this thread, 36, with 3 dc. My husband and I are both at Bible College in Glasgow at the moment and loving it.

In fact- everyone - we found out today that dh came top adn me 2nd top in the year!

My kids have meaningful names as well, for a variety of reasons.

dd1 - Katherine (Pure) Morna (Beloved) (but not named after anyone.

ds - Aidan (a flame) Paul (humble - dh's Grandad's name) Russell (red, firey - my Dad's name)

dd2 - Rachel (a lamb - also dh's Grandma's name, who died 2 weeks before she was born), Jessie (God is Gracious - My Gran's name, she died 8 weeks ago, but Jessie is also a diminutive of Janet, my other Gran, who is still alive but has severe dementia)

I love my kds names! They are very meaningful to me.

Bobsmum - praying for Neil . Hope it is a false alarm. Is he going to be having any surgery following the big heart attack?

Thought I should let you know we are away 'oop north' to the Hebrides for 5 weeks on Friday, and so I might not be online much - not sure if internet is working at other house. I hope I can be, otherwise I will be going insane!

CaptainCaveman · 28/06/2007 07:33

Thanks Mary, will remember to take a moment to pray before starting assignment when I get to work - speaking of which, I need to move.....

Roseylea · 28/06/2007 08:24

Hello all!

Just a quick hi as I've got a chicken-pox-encrusted boy sitting on my lap!

Harrissey you superstar! (and Mr Harrisey too!) Well done on your excellent results. You must be thrilled!

Mary you wicked woman with your comments about "Father M's" girthage! Seriously, well done on writing your sermon. It's not an easy subject IMO.

Hi Tasja! Welcome to the thread! I will pray for your childminding.

Panda your ds's play will be very timely, eh? My dc are fascinated by the pictures of flooding on the TV. Dd said "Mummy, was that when Jesus flooded the world?"

Hi Sooz! How is the gardening business going?

Hello DutchOma. We have one of Jeff Lucas's books and I love it - v. down to earthbut full of insights.

Hi CD! How is life in sunny Eastbourne?

Bobsmum I will pray for Neill.

Well we are taking dd to see the consultant dermatologist this morning - please pray that it is a helpful meeting. Her excema is v. v. bad atm - we had to keep her off school the other day as she had scratched the skin off her forearms - ouch!

Also ds is feeling very sorry for himself with the pox so please pray that it passes quickly! Dh and I are a bit frazzled after not much sleep for several days.

God bless all xxx

PandaG · 28/06/2007 10:16

MOrning all!

just popping on while I still have power, expecting power cut this morning. We haven't lost our power at all so far, but friends a few streets away have.

Well done Mr and Mrs Harrisey that is brilliant

Praying for your meeting Rosey, and for healing for DD. Praying that you get some sleep too.

will press post incase the leccy goes!

Notquitegrownup · 28/06/2007 10:30

Oh Rosey I've just remembered that ds2's excema started with chickenpox. We happened to have a friend who is a paediatrician visiting, and he said that there is a well documented causal link between the two - it's got its own special name (Excema herpes(ish)). I'd forgotten all about that. Hopefully as the chickenpox viruses exit her system, so the excema might respond a little too. (We're three years on and it is much better. He has other triggers too, of course, but we're getting there.)

Mary - I think your sermon sounds lovely. You reminded me that as a child I used to secretly and very fervently pray for extra juice in my bowl, when we had tinned peaches!! The bowl would look empty, but I prayed, and I always got one or two more spoonfuls out. I never told anyone, but used to really enjoy the secret prayer going on - it was a very special time! Like having a favourite Grandad winking at you over the table, whilst your parents aren't looking!

Good morning all. Prayer time rather short at the moment. Hmmm. Must look again at my priorities. God bless.

DutchOma · 28/06/2007 11:04

Mary, what a lovely sermon and NQGU what a beautiful addition to it. There is so much to be said about prayer, that you need a six week slot to get most of it in. How long do you get for your sermon, Mary? Probably not as long as in our church where 40 minutes is no exception although not (fortunately) quite the rule.
Harriseys (x2) how deserved your holiday is, have a wonderful time and don't go mad if computer doesn't work. Must admit I suffer from withdrawal symptoms after a day without. Does that class as an addiction I should do something about?
Rosey, praying for you and dd, after all the effort you make with her food as well. Will pray for a night's sleep for you tonight.
Going to have a look at dd's house, which I helped her tidy so it would come up to scratsh at the landlord's inspection. She says it is spotless!

CaptainDippy · 28/06/2007 11:21

How was DD's house DO??

Awwww, harrisey - your children have lovely names! My eldest is also Katherine (pure) - is she a Katherine or a Katie/y or a Kate or anything?? I love Rachel too - not a name we'd be able to use now that we have a Phoebe though. I love talking about names .....

My DD1 is Katherine, meaning pure, which is beautiful. He 2nd name is Deborah cos that's my name! It means 'Honey Bee'

My DD2 is Sophia, meaning wisdom. Her 2nd name(s) are Helen-May - Helen means light & is my beloved Foster Ma's name and May cos she was due in June & born in May - iyswim!!?

My DD3 is Phoebe, which means 'bright shining one'. Elisabeth is her 2nd name, meaning 'God's promise' and Joan, which was DH's Grandma's name & means 'the Lord is gracious'.

I love my girlies names too!

Well Done on coming top & 2nd top, Harrisey & Mr Harrisey - fantastic stuff!

Praying for DD's appt this morning, Rosey & for DS to fully recover soon. {{{{hugs}}}}

Bet you find a spot somewhere DO! Mums tend to! (I still remember my mum greeting me after the birth of ds1 with the immortal words "Hello Darling! Now don't worry, I've cleaned your kitchen walls for you, so that you won't need to do them for a while!!" Not exactly my main concern at that moment, but it's the thought that counts!)

Notquitegrownup · 28/06/2007 12:57

Hello CD (Honeybee!) and all.

(Harrisey, I was getting quite worried counting the names of your children, until I realised that you had included middle names too!)

CaptainDippy · 28/06/2007 13:26

LOL NQGU!

right, off to see friend after quick nappy change (for P, not me!! )

"See" you later .....
