evening all

can we pray for anyone afected by the floods. We are up a hill so not affected by the flooding in Sheffield, but a friend is stuck at work, and it seems a 13 year old died after being swept away here, as wel as the man who got stuck in the drain. Helicopters doing rescue missions.

Praying for you all.

mufti · 26/06/2007 07:42

lovely pics captain c , how old is he?
captain d , its not a massive space , as we lose some due to the eaves, terraced house, but it is light, and very quiet up there.
you can see a long way , but noone sees you!
as we only had 2 bedrooms before, and i am forced to move ds out of our room when spare bedroom is decorated [ sad], it is going to be part guest bedroom, with sofa bed, for my mum, and part ironing room / day room for ds and i.
can we add prayers for the journalist hostage too, alan i think it is?

MaryBS · 26/06/2007 08:23

oops fell asleep last night, so never came back!

Have been praying for all the requests on here. Please can I add my mum to your prayers today? Today is the 10th anniversary of my dad's death. Mum has never really got over it. Her faith is strong though, as was Dad's (even though they were RC aren't I wicked?)

ZipadiSuzy · 26/06/2007 10:00

Mary - a quiet prayer for you and your mum as you remember your dad fondly on his memorial day,
I bet in a few months you'll have sermons coming out of your ears whats your one for the children? ours don't really fit in with toddlers they are more for junior school age perhaps I had better 'suggest' some ideas to our church instead of comment

CC - what stunning pictures of your scrummy little boy he looks so grown up, are they recent pictures? I'm sure he didn't look that big when I saw him.

CD - 'ickle pickles' the twins have started the day off badly today, ds threw 'ready brek' box at dh's head cause he wouldn't make him any, dd 'felt tip' need I say any more! (the bottom step is wearing out)

IBS settled again now, thanks for all your prayers, I picked up towards the evening and felt less sick and in less pain, (period stopped in 4 hours how strange!) no I'm not pregnant!!!!! what a strange day it was though

Have a lovely Tuesday everybody! prayers to you all and {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}

CaptainDippy · 26/06/2007 10:55

Morning - DD3 being an 'ickle pickle' again so not long to post. Sigh.

Glad you are feeling better Sooz - LOL @ not being PG - me either (you have to have sex for that!!!!!!! )

Yes, we must pray for all those affected by this terrible flooding & for the man from the BBC who has been taken hostage (thank you for reminders Panda & mufti) - What a broken world we live in - Send your healing Lord ......

Will be thinking of and praying for your mum (and for you and your family!!) today Mary. Thanking God for your dad's life & praying He would be v.close to your mum today, comforting her & giving her Peace.

I am tiiiiired; but apart from that, ok. nNo more news on Adam.

Sooz - the sermon is going to be on prayer. Or rather "should we pray for ice cream?"

Thanks for your prayers re: my dad. I think of him often. Some of you may have heard this before but "What do we see every day, Kings and Queens sometimes see, but God NEVER sees?". That was one of my dad's riddles...

CaptainDippy · 26/06/2007 17:30

I like Ice Cream.

@ Riddles .... I am rubbish at them, I'm afraid!

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 26/06/2007 21:24

Evening!
Prayers for you Mary, and for your mum and dad. Like CD, I'm useless at riddles!

You've obviously been praying for me as my word count in my assigment is up to 1000....a quarter of the way there with a clear plan ahead. Thank you God, and thank you too, wonderful ladies who pray and care.

Sooz the pics of ds were both taken before we met, both this year sometime though!

Right, I'm off for a well earned sit down on the settee with feet up and a glass of wine.

Love and prayers to you all, especially those affected by the floods. My poor friend has been flooded for a second time in 2 weeks (this time worse than before) so now has to look for somewhere else to live - she only moved in on 2nd June . She's in Retford (north notts)

BedofRosesitAint · 26/06/2007 21:32

Hi Everyone,

Things have been a bit hectic so haven't been able to get online.

I am feeling more able Have been thinking about my walk with the Lord, and I really would appreciate recommendations on daily devotional/inspirational books. Nothing "twee" if that makes sense, something practical/real/honest.

For the first time in 10 years my husband and I are going to be able to take a weekend away alone without children. (In July) Please pray that none of my children will become ill etc, and that we will have a really lovely time together.

Am feeling hugely frustrated by my children tonight. Please pray for my patience.

Will read through posts so far and pray.

BoRiA x

DutchOma · 26/06/2007 22:08

We are using Lucas on Life from CWR. Very real, but Bible based. Been on Proverbs for May/June, will be on Joseph for the next two months. Quite large chunks of Bible reading sometimes and only one reading for the weekend.

PandaG · 27/06/2007 07:47

MOrning all

praying for you all. Well done on your essay CM, praying that you get on with it well today.

BoRiA - good to hear that you are feeling a bit more positive. I will look at the recommendations for notes with interest, the ones we are using at the moment are not fantastic, the questions are a bit simple, but at least we are using them!

tasja · 27/06/2007 08:06

Hi there

I'm a registered childminder and moved to Northampton 2 months ago. I'm struggling to find children to fill my vacancies.
My husband and I are from SA. If I don't work, we can't go visit our families. Saw them 2 years ago.
Could you please say a prayer for me for my childminding business to take off and that we can go to SA to visit, please.

Thank you all. Will say a prayer for you all.

have a nice day

MaryBS · 27/06/2007 08:36

Hi tasja and welcome! Will add you to my prayers.

BoRiA - I receive "daily prayer" via email from www.oremus.org. Its in the style of Anglican Morning Prayer, but I find it easy to sit and read in the mornings (easier than following it in a book, where you have to jump between pages then look up the bible passages ). Its free and if you don't like it you can always unsubscribe! There's a whole host of stuff on there. For example you can search for bible passages if you know what you want but can't remember where it is!

Morning Panda - how's the flooding affecting you and Worzella?

CCM - praying for your friend who was flooded

Sooz - glad the IBS has settled down again. How are you? I keep meaning to email you! .

Must write my sermon on healing tonight... I know what I want to say, just need to say it in a sensitive way that won't distress those who are ill... it really gets up my nose when people imply that if you have enough faith you will be healed.

DutchOma · 27/06/2007 10:16

Hi Tasja, Do you want to CAT me? I'm in Northampton, don't quite know what to do to help since my children are long grown up but at least it might be nice to have someone near you to chat to.

tasja · 27/06/2007 10:33

DutchOma
Thanks, that would be nice sometime to do that.

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 10:41

Praying for you as you write your sermon on Healing Mary - a v.sensitive topic - praying God gives you real wisdom & insight.....

CC - that your assignment is going well - praying for mega progress today..... Also praying for your friend as she looks for a new home - how Praying for strength for her & her family.

Great to "see" you Bed!! Glad you are feeling more positive & that you are chatting to God lots - He does listen, you know!! How did the rest of last night go? Did you DC's settle & leave you to get some rest in the end? - Yey for you & DH going away - how exciting!!! Where are you going? Who is having the DC's? Praying really hard that everything would go smoothly & you would would have an absolutely fabbo time - v.

Hello & Welcome Tasja!! Praying that your Childminding business would take off asap so that you can get enough money to live & to see your family in SA too .... Tell us a bit more about yourself if you would like to .....

I am absolutely shattered atm - think the last 8 weeks have finally caught up on me ..... no time to rest though, which is frustrating .......

Update on Adam is that he has remained stable overnight so they will deinfintely be reducing the sedation today ... will post when I know any more .....

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 10:42

Hi Dutch Oma btw - you are sooo lovely, you know that!!?

OP posts:
PandaG · 27/06/2007 11:40

Welcome Tasja I'm a reg CM too, but i don't do very much minding these days, through choice. Will pray that God sends yo the right children to look after, and that He will provide enough money for you to be able to visit your family. Do you keep your records updated at your local Children's Information Service? Here, the more recently you have updated your records, the more higher up the list you are that they send out ot prospective customers.

Mary - thanks for asking, Worz and I are fine, we live on one of the 7 hills in Sheff and so if we get flooded out so would most of Sheffield. Driving is still a nightmare as lots of roads are still closed, due to the worry over the dam bursting. Ironically DS has been studying the Great Sheffield Flood at school (1880 ish I think, and is performing a play about it today and tomorrow!) We will be affected by electric cuts though, those of us with power are going to lose it in a managed way to help get those without power back on.

Praying that your seromn writing is really inspired!

CD praying for strength and rest for you flower, and for Adam.

How is everyone else today?

ZipadiSuzy · 27/06/2007 11:42

Good Morning, well whats left of it, I've spent toooo much time 'chatting'

Mary - thank you, I was up a couple of hours last night, took Gaviscon (thank you god for 'Gaviscon') and settled back to sleep, if its not IBS its acid tummy, yukky yuk yuk yuk! my nerves getting the better of me I suspect!!

I'm a bit like CD with riddles, I am so sorry, I have read your dads riddle over and over again I bet he's having a good laugh at us figuring it out

I think praying for ice-cream is lovely, any type of prayer no matter how old the children are is a positive step forward to their faith! its the sort of prayer my 3yo would say - aw so sweet! can I be 3 again

Sorry gotta go, playschool pick up, catch up later!!!

CaptainDippy · 27/06/2007 11:57

Hey Panda! Praying for you with the power cuts you are going to be experiencing etc ..... @ the irony of DS' current school project!! Enjoy the play .... Say hey to worz for me!

Hi Sooooooooooooz!! Yuk to acid tummy - praying it goes away soon hon.

Ooooooooh, ice cream .......

Also, PRAISE GOD - DD3 has actually slept for a signifcant period of time this morning - Feeling a lot better for it, even if still completely shattered ......

OP posts:
harrisey · 27/06/2007 12:20

Not daily notes, but this is a new thing that we have been getting (cos we were at Uni with the guy who writes it!) and it can be very interesting, if you have people to discuss it with.

Friday Night Theology

We quite like it, anyway.

tasja · 27/06/2007 13:34

Hi there
CaptainDippy - here's more about me.......
I'm Natasja (tasja). I'm 28 and from SA. My husband and I came here about 3 1/2 years ago. We lived in London for a year 1/2. Then my husband got a job in Bugbrook (Northampton). So we moved to Wellingborough. Last year we were blessed with a beautiful baby daughter - La Luna. After her birth I registered as a childminder - can't earn money by working and then spend it on childcare - what's the point?
2 months ago we moved to East Hunsbury (Northampton) to be near my husband's work and for my childminding business.
When I was in hospital with the birth of my DD, we met another SA couple. They had a DD a day after La Luna was born. They are part of a big Christian Group. So we made lots of friends. We are about 8 couples with 17 kids between all of us. We get together every second weekend. one weekend we have a bible study group and one weekend we just have a social - like a BBQ or a fondue.

bobsmum · 27/06/2007 13:38

Hi everyone - just a quickie. Our friend from church, Neill has been taken into hospital again with chest pains . Don't know anymore than that atm. Keep praying if poss.
