NIGHT PRAYER

Comfort me with Your love O God
Wrap me up in Your strong embrace
Shelter me from the storm O Lord
Envelop me in Your tender care
By day I pour out my heartbreak to You
By night I give you my racing thoughts
In You I take refuge
In You I will not be afraid
For you hold me strong, You hold me safe
Calm my fearful heart O God
Still my anxious mind O Lord
For all my life is found in You
All my being is given to You
All my hope begins in You

Prayer found on web.dawesvillecps.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/17th-September.pdf

I found this prayer on Facebook and tought it was a beautiful way to start the new prayer thread.

There was a beautiful picture with it too, but I don’t know how to transfer that.

Sorry to hear that BES. That sounds challenging. How are you holding up?

Lungs are meh. On and off, sometimes feel ok but others (and most nights) are pretty useless and painful.

Been quiet here lately, be good to get things going again. Any lurkers want to come and say hello? We'd love to pray for you :)

Dutchoma · 20/11/2019 21:51

That sounds all very hard BES. I hope that dd sleeps through the night and feels better in the morning and that ds calms down and you all get some rest.
MHD sorry to hear that lungs are pesky on and off. I hope you can stay out of hospital at least this winter.
And yes to the lurkers and newbies, it has been very quiet on here.
I have had three nights without coughing now and have been able to attend all the events at church that I wanted to apart from the Remembrance Day service. The really busy time starts from this Sunday.
I hope this message posts, it behaves really strangely.

Hi everybody, I haven't posted on this thread for absolutely ages (possibly years!) but feel I need to now. My lovely sister is pregnant with her second child and has just found out that there is a 95% chance the baby will have Down's Syndrome. Their first daughter is NT and an absolute joy but she is finding the pregnancy really hard to deal with and says she is feeling guilty and a bad mother for not bonding with the baby. She and her DH are Christians and absolutely amazing parents already, but please could you keep them in their prayers through this difficult time (and the rest of the family as we don't know the best things to do or say!) Thank you

Dutchoma · 22/11/2019 20:28

sleepychunky that is really hard for your sister. It’s hard to bond with an unborn baby and it will be hard when the baby is born as a Down’s baby. I hope she will be able to find as much as she can before the baby is born and gets as much support as possible once he or she is here.
She will most certainly be in my prayers.

Thank you @dutchoma x

BlackeyedSusan · 27/11/2019 07:43

Ds was sick in the night. No school for him. Got to take DD though.

Dutchoma · 27/11/2019 11:57

Hopefully it is not a bug and if it is that he keeps it to himself.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 27/11/2019 15:42

Well DD didn't keep it to herself. No, she passed it on having redecorated sil's landing.

Brace yourself for me moaning pathetically in Friday morning.

Dutchoma · 27/11/2019 17:02

Oh, I hope not. But moan away if you have to.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 29/11/2019 00:44

Ex got away with nausea, and burpy, so fingers crossed.

Ds has had his day night schedule disrupted. Late evening.

Dutchoma · 30/11/2019 07:13

But how are you?

OP posts:
Madhairday · 30/11/2019 09:13

Hope you are ok, BES! :(

Hello to @sleepychunky and welcome! That sounds like hard news and a difficult time for her. There are some great charities with good information about children with Downs syndrome, I'm sure she's found them already, but praying she can find the positive in it all and glimpses of hope, and most of all a sense of bonding with her baby. Flowers

I've had a few days break with DH which has been lovely. I now really should start thinking about Christmas...

SpruceTree · 30/11/2019 22:42

sleepychunky my neighbours son is 16. He is so friendly and one of the happiest people I know, as are his parents. I say hello to him most mornings as he goes off on his own by bus to college. He swims at county level. He has Down's syndrome and his parents tell me that it has enhanced all their lives.

sleepychunky · 02/12/2019 13:28

Thank you @SpruceTree and @Madhairday, i know there are so many positives to be thankful for (a scan my sister had last week showed no other problems) but it's just the sadness that their future isn't going to be what they had anticipated. I hope that in 16 years time I can say the same as you @SpruceTree!

BlackeyedSusan · 03/12/2019 14:01

...and I really should think about praying for pesky lungs to behave...it is that season again...

I think I escaped with a tummy ache, but got a niggly sore throat and squeaky/husky/no voice at all, which is annoying rather than bad. Hoping it stays at annoying. Busy time of year.

Dutchoma · 03/12/2019 14:58

Yes, we should all pray for our health. And be grateful, as I am, for the ability to keep going in this busy season.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 03/12/2019 16:53

Glad you posted was thinking about you earlier hoping you were ok.

Madhairday · 04/12/2019 18:59

Thank you BES and Oma Flowers

Pesky lungs are being pesky at night but behaving ok mainly in the days so I am able to get out and about. I have booked a trip to London next Saturday with DD to the Hillsong carols concert so I would dearly love to be well enough to do that.

Hope the sickness is all better now, BES.

How are Christmas plans coming along? Missing Tuo and her advent prayers, will try and get some on the thread.

Dutchoma · 04/12/2019 20:50

Yes, I also miss TUO and her advent prayers.

So here is the collect for Advent Sunday to be getting on with.

ALMIGHTY God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious Majesty, to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, now and ever. Amen.

With blessings for all.

OP posts:
Madhairday · 04/12/2019 22:46

Amen.

Thank you, Oma.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/12/2019 08:47

Prayers being said for Oma and MHD.

Dutchoma · 05/12/2019 21:38

This prayer comes from a website Christianith.com

O God,
by your holy prophets
you promised that your only Son
would come in the flesh for us
and be born of a virgin.
In these last days you have fulfilled your Word.
When he who came to redeem the world
comes to be our judge,
let us not be put to shame;
through the merits of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Another prayer for advent..

God of power and mercy open our hearts in welcome. Remove the things that hinder us from receiving Christ with joy so that we may share his wisdom and become one with him when he comes in glory, for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

And prayers for MHD who is suffering with another bout of painful pleurisy.

God of hope
be with us in our Advent journey
to the stable and beyond,
be with us in our meeting
and in our travelling together,
be with us in our worship
and our praying together,
be with us in our Advent journey
to the stable and beyond,
our God of hope.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 08/12/2019 09:05

Amen.
