NIGHT PRAYER

Comfort me with Your love O God
Wrap me up in Your strong embrace
Shelter me from the storm O Lord
Envelop me in Your tender care
By day I pour out my heartbreak to You
By night I give you my racing thoughts
In You I take refuge
In You I will not be afraid
For you hold me strong, You hold me safe
Calm my fearful heart O God
Still my anxious mind O Lord
For all my life is found in You
All my being is given to You
All my hope begins in You

Prayer found on web.dawesvillecps.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/17th-September.pdf

I found this prayer on Facebook and tought it was a beautiful way to start the new prayer thread.

There was a beautiful picture with it too, but I don’t know how to transfer that.

Ah no re the haircut!

How are you, BES and Oma?

Dutchoma · 24/10/2019 21:53

I am ok, but would welcome prayers for tomorrow as I attend the funeral of a dear friend. Know him and his wife for over 40 years.....

I find the words of 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind' inspiring when things aren't going well - especially this verse:

Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.

Thank you WheattoHarvest. Yes, that hymn reminds me so much of the trip to Israel with Bishop John Pritchard in 2015. We sang it, in the middle of the Sea of Gallilee and it was amazing to think that Jesus had looked on the same hills and still had /has power to calm the storm in our heart.

How did it go, dear Oma? I'm so sorry.

Dutchoma · 28/10/2019 07:29

It was ok, very full church, very short service, then the family left for the crematorium and I went home as I knew nobody there. I will ‘phone Anne sometime soon to hear she is getting on; the time after the funeral can be hard.

So sorry Oma. Flowers

BlackeyedGruesome · 31/10/2019 20:48

How are you doing Oma? It is tough on the friends like you supporting too.

BlackeyedGruesome · 01/11/2019 08:01

Morning. Prayers Oma.

I went to an amateur performance of a short play set in Amsterdam in 1944. It was a massive trigger of all things related to the war which had quite an impact on my life as well as on that of my parents. There is an overlap of about five people between the choir and the amdram society and the people that were in the choir were so wonderfully nice to me. The producer of the play was also Dutch and I spoke to the author of the play as well. All quite emotional but in a good way..

Oh that sounds like it was both good and hard, Oma. Flowers

I've had an infection again for the past week and it's not clearing up yet so a bit fed up. Seems winter is here...

How are you, BES?

Dutchoma · 02/11/2019 21:57

Sorry to hear that MHD. Prayers for speedy healing.

OP posts:
BlackeyedGruesome · 03/11/2019 02:33

BlackeyedSusan · 09/11/2019 14:13

Off to mother's. Got to pack food yet.

Barbaraanne22 · 09/11/2019 17:43

Checking in to send my love and prayers to you all. Life has been busy and I lost my log in details when my laptop died, so lurked until I could sort it all.

Dutchoma · 09/11/2019 17:56

Have a good journey BES

BlackeyedSusan · 11/11/2019 12:04

Thank you Oma, how are you doing?

Made it to mums, saw fireworks, made it back. Ds did his homework. It took three adults to persuade him.

Dutchoma · 11/11/2019 12:36

Apart from having a nasty cough at the moment I am doing just fine.
Life is just busy enough not to be bored, but not so busy that I get overwhelmed.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 15/11/2019 11:02

I hope your cough is better now.

Dutchoma · 15/11/2019 15:31

It’s better than it was but still keeps me awake at night.

OP posts:
Madhairday · 19/11/2019 18:01

Sorry your cough is still troubling you, Oma :(
How is it going, BES?

BlackeyedSusan · 20/11/2019 09:39

How're your lungs? Behaving better?

Ds is more meltdowny than before.

DD is in bed poorly. Fast asleep, feels sick temperature.

Tried to ring ex for 2.5 hours to get him to drop stuff off for DD. No answer from either phone.
