Another huge Rosslyn fan here. Last time I went with a friend who hadn't been before and there was a group singing in close harmony in the crypt, just beautiful.

SecretWitch · 12/10/2018 18:37

Giggorata that must have been stunning! I’m thinking next fall might be my opportunity to go.

VioletCharlotte · 12/10/2018 19:04

I'd really like to go to Rosslyn one day. I've only visited Scotland once, but totally fell in love with it. I've added Rosslyn to my ever-growing list of places to visit.

Secret witch wishing your daughter
a very happy birthday! I'm a Libra too (but typical Libra!) Hope she's had a lovely day.

PawneeParksDept · 12/10/2018 19:28

@BlankTimes is there something more like what I'm looking for you could recommend?

SecretWitch · 12/10/2018 20:48

Oh, VioletteCharlotte thank you so much. We had pizza, cake and presents. She loves being the center of attention and both her older siblings were here with her. She was thrilled. I’m sending you Birthday wishes too! 💫💝💐

speakout · 12/10/2018 20:52

SecretWitch

Sending your daughter bright blessings on her birthday.

Sounds as if you all had a wonderful day.

Birthday wishes from me too @ secretwitch & VioletCharlotte

Also, I know a few of you have mentioned that you're reading Vivianne Crowley and I wonder if I can ask some advice as I've got stuck.

I understand the importance of recognising our own dark characteristics rather than denying them, but am struggling with the concept of acceptance. What does this mean to you in practice?

PS @ YashmisCrone I love the look of that book

Elphame · 12/10/2018 22:53

@PawneeParksDept. If you want a book of spells one of the most comprehensive is The Element Encyclopaedia of 5000 spells. It’s a good source of inspiration.

SecretWitch · 12/10/2018 22:58

Many thanks speakout and Bellecose, the birthday girl has gone to bed with a happy smile on her face.

Bellecose, I have been struggling with that same question for awhile. Hecate is one of my favourite Goddess. I have been researching her and her many aspects. I just can’t reconcile my ideas of being a “good’ witch while acknowledging my darker feelings, thoughts, impulses. I’m not even sure I explained this in the correct way.

VioletCharlotte · 12/10/2018 23:01

Bellecose I'm about half way through, so may change my mind when I've finished I'm may change my mind. But to me accepting my dark side means being true to myself.Accepting that I have this part of my character that's at odds with the shiny 'persona' I present to the world and being ok with it, because that's who I am. Does that make sense? Would be interested to know what others think.

VioletCharlotte · 12/10/2018 23:03

And thank you Bellecose and Secret Witch for the birthday wishes😊

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 12/10/2018 23:27

Judt catching up on the lovely thread and wanted to add these for people planning trips. Well worth it. 😊

Pawnee not that I can think of. I've never used other peoples' words or workings, I prefer my own.

It's a bit like riding a bike. You can read all the books you want to about it and watch YouTube tutorials so you can theorise, but until you get on one and start pedalling, you'll not be able to do it.
Or maybe a better analogy is like baking a cake. We can read recipes, but on the day it's nicer to adapt or alter the ingredients to make sure we'll like it, than to blindly follow someone else's recipe when we know it's not 100% to our taste.

Start with something very, very simple.
Decide what outcome you want, find a few correspondences that mean something to you, pick an auspicious time and somewhere you'll not be disturbed.
Do any preparations and cleanses you need to, ground, centre and protect, then if you still feel comfortable, just do it.

If any of it makes you feel uncomfortable, don't do it, you're not ready at that particular time.

BB to all Librans!

BlankTimes · 12/10/2018 23:36

Elphame I have the 5,000 and agree, very good for inspiration.

PawneeParksDept · 12/10/2018 23:42

That's great advice @BlankTimes thank you

PawneeParksDept · 12/10/2018 23:45

Gosh I have bought so many books since I joined this thread 🙈 but that's definitely the sort of thing I need to get me going thanks @Elphame

SecretWitch · 13/10/2018 00:34

GeeIneverthought thank you for posting the photos. I never tire of looking at them.

Up early today!

For the past week I have been having a heavy thought about gas safety in our house, a recurring thought about the gas stove being left on unlit.

I have been trying to push the thought to the back of my mind, but keeps cropping up,

I woke up at 4am this morning - normally I would nip to the toilet and go back to sleep. Instead I crept downstairs in the dark to find the kitchen full of gas fumes.

One of the burners on the stove was hissing away merrily unlit.

Looks like DS had been down cooking a midnight snack and left the gas running.

I turned off the gas, opened all the doors and windows.
That was two hours ago, and the smell has gone. No damage done, everyone alive!

Strange that this thought has preoccupied me for a week before this happened.

Shock thank goddess for your ‘foresight’/premonition/sixth sense!

If your mind hadn’t have been preparing you all week perhaps you wouldn’t have crept down to the kitchen.

Very pleased to hear that you’re all safe. You’re very in tune. And a reminder for all us to listen to our intuition

speakout · 13/10/2018 06:52

YashmisCrone

Thanks, and yes, for some reason I was on "hyper alert " mode when I decided to go to the kitchen.

I even didn't turn on any lights as I went as I didn't want to cause a spark, there was just enough moonlight filtering through to see what I was doing.

Bellecose2 · 13/10/2018 07:58

@speakout... I am so glad you and your family are safe and were protected.I hope the shock has subsided for you too.

Will light a candle for gratitude. You have always been protective and nurturing of us on this thread, particularly novices like me and I hold you in very high esteem. Does not bear thinking about what could have happened.

speakout · 13/10/2018 08:28

Bellecose2

Thank you so much.

Your lovely words mean a lot to me. X

@VioletCharlotte & @secretwitch.. I forgot to post my response Blush

Thank you for replies. I initially thought I understood it but the more I read and thought about it, I began to wonder if I was confusing the word acceptance with acknowledgement.

I can take ownership for my own issues and do so a lot easier these days, so acknowledgement isn't such an obstacle for me. Accepting (if I'm interpreting it correctly to mean embrace?) that part of me is far more difficult as wouldn't it imply that we don't challenge those darker aspects of our psyche? I guess I need to read up more on shadow work as it is already illuminating so many aspects of my behaviour, both past and present.

owlshooting · 13/10/2018 09:58

Oh my goodness, that must have been scary speakout! It might be a good idea to get a carbon monoxide detector. Shows your intuition is working well though! Hope you are recovered.

speakout · 13/10/2018 10:01

owlshooting

Thanks, I have three CO detectors in the house- they don't pick up natural gas though, there is no Carbon Monoxide in gas.
