Thank you for the welcome! Tea please Edd. I'm enjoying your chat about things spiritual and church experiences.

EddSimcox · 22/06/2017 19:10

Being a bit brave here. I wrote a blog about Thy Kingdom Come.

Madhairday · 22/06/2017 19:28

Love that Edd. What a wonderful experience. Praise God.

Lissette · 22/06/2017 20:30

You write so well Edd.

Lissette · 22/06/2017 20:33

I'm happy to be FB friends too.

Niminy · 22/06/2017 21:06

That is - actually that is such a powerful evocation of what prayer is and does. I love that image of all the people saying the Lord's Prayer together all over the world, and stretching g right back in time, back to the first people who said it, phrase by phrase, after Jesus. And I love what you say of how you are now connected to the people you prayed with and for - it reminds me of how Jesus says those who abide in love abide in me, and I in them (I'm paraphrasing g from memory). Edd thank you for writing that and thank you for sharing it.

Doublegloucester · 22/06/2017 21:18

It reminded me of how I felt when we all did compline on here ☺️

A bit late to join the Catherine Fox topic but guiltily, the only one of hers I've read is 'the benefits of passion'! Blush
I enjoyed it but it did make its way to the charity shop, just in case any more conservative church folk came to visit lol!

Doublegloucester · 22/06/2017 21:22

And welcome arti

Dutchoma · 23/06/2017 07:50

Is there anybody clever enough to set up a Facebook group for us who have linked in that way? I am part of three such groups and feel much safer posting in them than on my timeline. I just don't know how to do it.

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 08:01

Yes I can do that Oma, if people let me know if they'd like to join.

Dutchoma · 23/06/2017 08:03

Thanks MHD. I'm in for a start....

Niminy · 23/06/2017 08:26

I'm in!

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 08:45

Great, I'll set it up and anyone who wants to join let me know here/by pm/by FB. We could ask on prayer thread too.

MurielsBottom · 23/06/2017 09:36

Hi everyone,

I wonder if I can introduce myself? I've read this and the previous thread very quietly, stood at the back so to speak.
I love the atmosphere you have created here.

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 09:52

You're very welcome Muriel :-)

Tea or coffee? Brew

Do tell us a bit about yourself, if you'd like to.

Dutchoma · 23/06/2017 10:02

Very welcome Muriel Arti has been at the back for a while too. Are there enough biscuits for you to share?

Some questions for any newbies who would like to answer them Grin

happy clappy or traditional?
choir or singing group?
organ or keyboards/bands?
hymn books or screens?
and the important one: do you like Graham Kendrick?

Smile
MurielsBottom · 23/06/2017 11:21

Oh my, I will take the quiz . . .

Happy clappy or traditional? I seem to do a bit of both. For quite a long time we went to a happy clappy, baptist church. More recently we have been to Cof E (modern but still not exactly happy clappy). I was brought up in the CofE so I love the rhythms and structure and the hymns too. We are now attending a Salvation Army church which seems a good mix really.
Choir or singing group - Choirs are for listening to and singing group is for joining in with. Not keen on organs though, much prefer a band or even just guitars for worship.
Hymn books or screens - can I say no preference really? But my pet hate is a whole service where everyone stares at the screen as if we are in the cinema. I guess multi media presentations are the way forward but it just seems much less people focused to me.

And Graham Kendrick is Ace. Can't say he has written a bad song and was very influential over my younger years!

And tea, milk, no sugar in a mug please. Smile

Lissette · 23/06/2017 11:30

I'm in too MHD for the Facebook group

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 12:05

That's great Lissette, could you PM me your fb details :)

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 12:06

Ooh Muriel I am more of a band fan too. I've come to appreciate organs a bit more lately though , must be getting old Grin

Great to have you on board.

Niminy · 23/06/2017 12:16

Just checking in while I make a cup of tea and take a break from cutting out frocks. I offered to do some dressmaking with girls from our youth club, thinking one or two might be interested. Now I have to cut out 8 versions of the same dress in different sizes and fabrics .

Lissette · 23/06/2017 12:38

Pm'd you MHD.

Waves to Niminy

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 12:41

Wow niminy, sounds fun!

I'm a wee bit emotional today, dd's last day of school (she's off to sixth form college in September.) My baby has grown up...

MurielsBottom · 23/06/2017 15:33

Oh Niminy that takes me back to when I was a Brownie Leader, cutting 24 of everything. I admire your patience though.
