That is - actually that is such a powerful evocation of what prayer is and does. I love that image of all the people saying the Lord's Prayer together all over the world, and stretching g right back in time, back to the first people who said it, phrase by phrase, after Jesus. And I love what you say of how you are now connected to the people you prayed with and for - it reminds me of how Jesus says those who abide in love abide in me, and I in them (I'm paraphrasing g from memory). Edd thank you for writing that and thank you for sharing it.

It reminded me of how I felt when we all did compline on here ☺️

A bit late to join the Catherine Fox topic but guiltily, the only one of hers I've read is 'the benefits of passion'! Blush
I enjoyed it but it did make its way to the charity shop, just in case any more conservative church folk came to visit lol!

Is there anybody clever enough to set up a Facebook group for us who have linked in that way? I am part of three such groups and feel much safer posting in them than on my timeline. I just don't know how to do it.

Hi everyone,

I wonder if I can introduce myself? I've read this and the previous thread very quietly, stood at the back so to speak.
I love the atmosphere you have created here.

Some questions for any newbies who would like to answer them Grin

happy clappy or traditional?
choir or singing group?
organ or keyboards/bands?
hymn books or screens?
and the important one: do you like Graham Kendrick?

Smile

Oh my, I will take the quiz . . .

Happy clappy or traditional? I seem to do a bit of both. For quite a long time we went to a happy clappy, baptist church. More recently we have been to Cof E (modern but still not exactly happy clappy). I was brought up in the CofE so I love the rhythms and structure and the hymns too. We are now attending a Salvation Army church which seems a good mix really.
Choir or singing group - Choirs are for listening to and singing group is for joining in with. Not keen on organs though, much prefer a band or even just guitars for worship.
Hymn books or screens - can I say no preference really? But my pet hate is a whole service where everyone stares at the screen as if we are in the cinema. I guess multi media presentations are the way forward but it just seems much less people focused to me.

And Graham Kendrick is Ace. Can't say he has written a bad song and was very influential over my younger years!

And tea, milk, no sugar in a mug please. Smile

Just checking in while I make a cup of tea and take a break from cutting out frocks. I offered to do some dressmaking with girls from our youth club, thinking one or two might be interested. Now I have to cut out 8 versions of the same dress in different sizes and fabrics .
