broomstick I am going to do some behind-the-altar practice tomorrow with a friend of mine - I'll tell you how it felt afterwards!

Madhairday · 19/06/2017 20:00

Oooh that does sound lovely, niminy. Shall we sound out some dates? I'd love to meet you, we've 'known' each other so long now here on FB, it would be amazing. Smile who might be able to make it?

Madhairday · 19/06/2017 20:01

Here and on fb

Lissette · 19/06/2017 20:10

Niminy sorry to hear of the car bump but glad to hear that you are being ordained soon.

BroomstickOfLove · 19/06/2017 20:31

If anyone wants to be my Facebook friend, PM me and I'll give yout details. I tend to keep Facebook fairly religion-free as my mum is rather a fanatical atheist and I prefer to keep things peaceful with her, so I compensate with a Twitter feed which has become surprisingly Jesuit-heavy.

Dutchoma · 19/06/2017 20:46

I could quite easily come to Birmingham, that's why I suggested that. Not sure of dates though, suggest something and I'll come if I can.

Niminy what a shame re this morning Flowers yay re 1st July though.
Birmingham good for me if somewhere public transport accessible!

I don't know anyone here on fb but would be nice to Smile

BroomstickOfLove · 19/06/2017 23:10

I've sent some FB friend requests. There is a megaphone in my profile pic.

Madhairday · 19/06/2017 23:11

Pm me Gloucester, would be lovely to be friends on FB Smile

Tiggles · 20/06/2017 00:05

Congrats on the priesting Niminy, and pleased the bishop was kind. Hoping the car isn't too expensive to repair.

Broomstick my twitter tends to be more Christian than fb, but mainly as I think people can choose to follow me whereas don't want to force my religion down my friends. It always surprises me though if I make a churchy post on fb that it gets the most likes!

barefootcook · 20/06/2017 09:29

Dutchoma- just wondering if you have any news of Trazzletoes and little Joe. I am praying for them often.

Dutchoma · 20/06/2017 10:40

No, I haven't Barefootcook. There were a few dashes to hospital for platelet transfusions recently, but I have not heard or seen any news over the last few days. I think our prayers are much needed. I will see if I can find something out for you.

Is there anybody else, not already there, who would like to be friends on FB?

i am surprised at some of your ages... I have a totally different idea in my head. mind you i am surprised by my own age. (late 40s) at what point are you supposed to be grown-up as I do not seem to have made that point yet.

I can understand the wanting to shout it from the rooftops how awful they have been to you, but a quiet "i am no longer webmaster" is the right way to go. venting somewhere else helps. especially as I am a nosy bugger

I have met mhd, oma amber mary and some more I can not remember user names for.

meetups tend not to be peaceful and calm when ds is involved. all a bit stressful really.

Dutchoma · 20/06/2017 11:25

Your ds is always very well behaved here BES and a total credit to you.

gloucester happy to connect on FB or twitter - and oma and anyone else - pm me...

I also avoid the churchy posts on FB to spare my DP - though she sees stuff now and again. If I have a really specifically God thing to share I restrict the audience to people who might be interested - which used to be about two people , but the number is growing steadily Smile

My twitter otoh is specifically Christian. Grin

Madhairday · 20/06/2017 18:23

Do I have you on twitter Edd? I can't remember, I am a bit erratic when it comes to Twitter. Do post some though, mainly Christian and politics Grin

Niminy · 20/06/2017 18:32

I never do Twitter - perhaps I should, to catch Edd's Christian postings - it just makes me feel Confused there's so much of it.

picklemepopcorn · 20/06/2017 18:50

I can't get the hang of twitter at all, and I'm off FB at the moment. I'm about to miss church for the third week in a row, possibly a record... no good reason, just a few bits that cropped up at inconvenient times.

BroomstickOfLove · 20/06/2017 18:51

My recommendations for Twitter are OurCofE in which a different person who works within the CofE posts each week, ThinkingFaith which is a Jesuit magazine which regularly posts articles which make me think and has surprisingly good film reviews, and, rather oddly, the Spectator who are far more liberal in religious matters than political ones.

Madhairday · 20/06/2017 19:13

I like Disability & Jesus, the church mouse, Archdruid Eileen, Catherine fox among others. I do Twitter for work (run a few accounts) so I know well how it works but get a bit bored of it. If you want my twitter name do pm me :)

BroomstickOfLove · 20/06/2017 19:51

Yes - I forgot about Catherine Fox (are we all excited about her new book coming out?) and the Church mouse. I'll check the others.

Niminy · 20/06/2017 19:57

She has a new book? How exciting! Is it the latest Lindchester one (Unseen Realms Above)? I read that as she blogged it.

BroomstickOfLove · 20/06/2017 20:15

It is. I want Freddie May and Father Wendy to be happy. Actually, I want wonderful things for a Father Wendy, who haunts me a lot for a minor character.

I've now been going to my church for long enough to be aware of some of the seething tensions. Currently there is anger over evensong as a student choir is doing choral evensong every term time Sunday and many people are pissed off that it's now more like a concert than worship, and there was a note in the parish newsletter saying that it would continue next term and the PCC are cross because they weren't consulted. I think many of the PCC have been in position for 40-60 years.

BroomstickOfLove · 20/06/2017 20:19

The Catherine Fox book is out on 20 July and is the last of the Lindchester series.
