Welcome to our new prayer thread for summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, for her dad to recover well after his recent operation;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt, and also for her decision about her DS's schooling, and for his health;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for health for both her DC, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for her life with her new baby, for her relationship with her MIL, and for her family who are far away;

... Bluetinkerbell, for her DH's training to go well;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DidotheDodo, thanking God for the safe arrival of her granddaughter;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for her finances, for bullying issues around her DD, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time; also praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her brother who has been out of contact - may be be safe and well, and may he be in touch with Ginger or her sister soon;

... Iwantdogger, for her pregnancy - may her little one hand on in there and grow and develop strong and healthy;

... jan2014 for her decision to split with her DH, and for health and energy for her; also praying for her brother and his family, for his difficulties with alcohol;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her and her DS as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce;

... MadHairDay, for health for all in the MHD household, and for less stressful times for her DC

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum;

... PositiveAttitude, as she gets used to living with her DH again after a long time apart and for her new work as a Deacon in her church; also praying for PA's parents' health, and for her DDs and DS in their various situations;

... Question of Faith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to rediscover their love for one another and their lives together;

... Roomforalittleone, for her DS who has pneumonia, and for a good outcome from her Reader panel;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, after the loss of a close family friend, and for the work that she does with others who are bereaved;

... tunnocksteacake and her family as they cope with her DH's illness;

... weegiemum for strength to cope with her illness; and for

... ZingWhale as she approaches the end of her pregnancy.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Calm us, O Lord, as You stilled the storm.
Still us, O Lord, keep us from harm.
Let all the tumult within us cease.
Enfold us, Lord, in Your peace. Amen.

Dutch I'll be coming up to the Pod on the 29th-31st and would be able to pop into a meetup around then? It's a blinking long way for us otherwise!

Looks like I have 2 months to organise a wedding we want it for October half term week (were planning for Easter hols next year but a close friend has booked hers for then), first job tomorrow is to email the vicar for availability! Anybody care to talk me through what will be expected? DP and I are regular attenders although he's working away at the moment so it's just been ds and i at Sunday School for the last few months. Do we need to go to meetings/classes to prepare us?

Dutchoma · 03/08/2014 21:46

I don't think we can do it then as it will be the last weekend before back to school. But do come and drop in if you have time that weekend. It would be lovely to see you. Do you still have the address? I can't remember what happened last time, but I know I didn't see you.

PurplePidjin · 03/08/2014 22:21

Ooh, yes we should have that coffee although i will come encumbered but enthusiastic toddler if you want to reconsider Wink I think last time the logistics just got in the way - I couldn't get off site to you (the joy of the camper van) and you couldn't get on site to me! This time I shall have a tent and a car so transport not an issue :o

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 03/08/2014 22:36

Can you link the original meet up thread again oma? I forgot all about it in the recent stress and then being away x

Dutchoma · 03/08/2014 22:40

here

Lively toddler no probs, Pidjin

Dutchoma · 03/08/2014 22:41

Yes, that's right Pidjin. I was much more encumbered than I am now and if you have some transport...

MrsPixieMoo · 04/08/2014 06:51

Please pray for me today. I'm on my way to hospital for the caesarian. Please pray it goes ahead as planned today and for a safe delivery of our baby, and for my DD (3) who is a little unsettled at the moment, and for me, that I have a fast recovery and for my DH who is nervous. We have had multiple losses, so an emotional time for us today.

PositiveAttitude · 04/08/2014 08:01

Praying MrsPixie for everything you ask and for peace through it all.

Dutchoma · 04/08/2014 10:16

Oh Pixie, yes praying with you and for you.

PurplePidjin · 04/08/2014 12:19

Praying for you MrsPixie and the mini-moos Thanks

Dutchoma · 04/08/2014 17:24

I've had a slightly more encouraging response to the change of date to the 23rd August.
So please anyone who would like to come on that date sign up on the meet-up thread and I will send you the address.

madmomma · 04/08/2014 20:19

Hi everyone I'm posting here because I'm not sure where else I could get plenty of Christian traffic, so please forgive the derailment. I'm dipping my toe into Christianity and have been doing so for a couple of years now. I was wondering if there are any experienced Christians who would allow me to PM a few questions/chat, and I'd also appreciate some recommendations for exploratory books. I've just read C.S. Lewis's 'mere Christianity', which I have found extremely illuminating, and I love his intellectual, English approach to the subject. I can't get on with the Billy Graham-type American books and authors. Many Thanks, Mad xx

MrsPixieMoo · 04/08/2014 21:04

Thank you all.

My lovely DD was safely delivered today as planned and her big sister visited her with excitement and pride.

I appreciate all your prayers in recent weeks.

God bless you all.

SESthebrave · 04/08/2014 21:19

BES - how awful :(
Prayers for your friend, her family and also you in your shock and grief.

Questionoffaith · 04/08/2014 22:17

Pixie congratulations! Lovely news. Enjoy this precious time.
BES that is tragic. So sorry for you and praying for your friends family and you.
Madmomma am going through a period of reading as much as I can around Christianity as really want to move my faith and knowledge into another gear. Books I have been recommended and took a lot from recently are Christ is Alive and also Your God is Too Small. Will be interested to hear other recommendations as well.
Mome thanks for your response to my question the other day. Praying for you all.

Questionoffaith · 04/08/2014 22:25

Madmomma the Christ is Alive book I read was by Michel Quoist. A quick google has shown me that there is more than one book of the same title

Dutchoma · 04/08/2014 23:06

Congratulations Pixie prayers that you will all gel as a family with God's richest blessing.

Madmomma I too am quite happy to answer questions, I found Stephen Gaukroger's book 'It makes sense' quite helpful.
BES how truly awful, don't know what to say.
