Welcome to our new prayer thread for summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, for her dad to recover well after his recent operation;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt, and also for her decision about her DS's schooling, and for his health;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for health for both her DC, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for her life with her new baby, for her relationship with her MIL, and for her family who are far away;

... Bluetinkerbell, for her DH's training to go well;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DidotheDodo, thanking God for the safe arrival of her granddaughter;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for her finances, for bullying issues around her DD, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time; also praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her brother who has been out of contact - may be be safe and well, and may he be in touch with Ginger or her sister soon;

... Iwantdogger, for her pregnancy - may her little one hand on in there and grow and develop strong and healthy;

... jan2014 for her decision to split with her DH, and for health and energy for her; also praying for her brother and his family, for his difficulties with alcohol;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her and her DS as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce;

... MadHairDay, for health for all in the MHD household, and for less stressful times for her DC

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum;

... PositiveAttitude, as she gets used to living with her DH again after a long time apart and for her new work as a Deacon in her church; also praying for PA's parents' health, and for her DDs and DS in their various situations;

... Question of Faith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to rediscover their love for one another and their lives together;

... Roomforalittleone, for her DS who has pneumonia, and for a good outcome from her Reader panel;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, after the loss of a close family friend, and for the work that she does with others who are bereaved;

... tunnocksteacake and her family as they cope with her DH's illness;

... weegiemum for strength to cope with her illness; and for

... ZingWhale as she approaches the end of her pregnancy.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Calm us, O Lord, as You stilled the storm.
Still us, O Lord, keep us from harm.
Let all the tumult within us cease.
Enfold us, Lord, in Your peace. Amen.

All the best for the meeting Madcaplady Flowers

And Flowers for everyone else too. I hope you are all having a good week.

Dutchoma · 23/09/2014 08:45

Praying for you MCL.
I am having a very good week as I have found a customer to knit a gansey for. Very excited. Also I have heard from Pistey about the blanket that some (all) of you contributed to after Bob's death. Preparations for the handover are in progress.

howtoapproachthis · 23/09/2014 11:21

Charlotte its lovely to see you how are you keeping now? have things settled a bit for you?
Kay its hard to believe how someone could turn a child against his mum like that. i have no suggestions apart from surrendering to God who surely can't let him get away with this and has to turn the situation around. much love to you
Bes sorry to hear your aunt died, i hope you are ok. people like that bring a kind of security and comfort to life i find, im always fearful of it becoming their 'time' to go.
im totally terrified of spiders too although not as bad as i used to be. im a bit scared because everyone is saying when the weather cools down all these huge spiders will come in.

i have really been struggling this week. running out of energy in the middle of the day, dds behaviour is a battle as she is very argumentative, and still getting up at night. im just so tired. i know i need to deal with what i want to do about my relationship, i think i just want a divorce now, but im too tired to deal with that.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/09/2014 11:27

take heart, spider and bloodcurling screaming season is nearly over.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/09/2014 14:26

off for a meeting with ds's speech therapist and dd's teacher.

madhairday · 23/09/2014 16:09

Afternoon all,

BES, I hoovered up a daddy long legs by accident this morning then felt all guilty Grin

Madcaplady, praying for your job situation, it sounds really stressful at the moment, praying for peace as well as good resolution.

Kay, continuing to pray for you and ds Thanks

Hello Oma! Glad to hear about the blanket :) How are you at the moment? Really loved visiting you, you must come visit me sometime, always welcome!

I've been a bit quiet as been both busy and ill, not a good combination, saw my consultant on friday who said if I need another course of antibiotics this month it will have to be in for IVs again, oh joy Hmm - but I'm glad I have a good team.

All excited at the moment as dh is having his book published and it's out next week - he beat me to it, I keep putting it off finishing mine, and its super hard to get a publisher nowadays so very proud of him, trying to organise a launch party - any good ideas for a book launch party?

Do hope everyone else is doing ok at the moment. Prayers assured for you all.

That's good madcap.

Hi MHD!

BES is there a helpline I can call for advice? DS had a difficult day at school. The Autism Advisory Service were meant to be coming in to give advice on helping him. It's just something the ht said tonight at home time has made me worry.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/09/2014 20:16

I have just discovered that a child having a melt down in the shower... is very wet. for the bathroom and the assistant.

Dutchoma · 23/09/2014 20:29

Oma nods wisely...

BlessedAssurance · 23/09/2014 20:36

Kaykat i am [shocked] at the tricks your ex is cooking up. Playing his son against his own mother? What does he get from that? So sad and pathetic. Praying things will change.
Mome-hope you will manage to get in touch with the right people.
Oma- sounds like you will be having fun. Enjoy making your blanky as Dd calls them.

Please help me. Ds(6m) in a few days is not a good sleeper during the day. The nights are not that great but he feeds then goes to sleep right away so it doesn't feel that bad. Anyway he is difficult to put to bed. Today i went into bed with him at 6. He cried while i was there for 1.5 hrs. He fights to stay awake. He has just started crawling and so he tries to get up too. He has never slept in his bed for more than 30min from when he was 2months. He sleeps on my back in a sling and he is a big boy. I am tiny(48kg) now and he is 9kg and only breastfeed. I just started with solids today and he is going to be heavier to carry. It would be great if he could sleep those 2 hrs he spent on to me in his bed.

I have tried everything, go to bed with him. Routine-feed,bath and feed. Does not work. I feed to sleep, nope. The only thing left:: CC. I left him to go to the loo and the way he cried i don't think i could ever want to hear him cry like that again. So what i am asking is, did any of you have a baby who needed to cry it out to sleep? What did you do? I ask here because some say christians do not let their kids cry it out. I have all the time to relax and wait till he is ready to sleep it's him who needs to sleep 6:30 not 9 like he is doing. Also my poor Dh and i need to actually spend some time together. It has been long. Any help will be appreaciated.

PurplePidjin · 23/09/2014 21:38

blessed hugs ds was like that. he's a tummy sleeper so try putting him down on his front, make sure he sleeps well in the day, and try a ewan or other sleep cue to tell him its bedtime

i still carry 25lb ds in slings if you want advice on different types

BlackeyedSusan · 24/09/2014 09:50

oh no. I am going to have to speak to school. apparently, they loose golden time if they do not get more than 50% on spellings. ds does not practise spellings as a direct result of his autism, and his sensory processing disorder, and his hypermobility.

BlessedAssurance · 24/09/2014 10:49

Thanks purple. The sling is fine. It is solid. I feel a bit tired carrying him most of the time. I think i should not worry about that anymore because he has discovered he can go places without me and that's more fun:) . Feel bad complaining really. He is not bad, just a terrible sleeper. Turns out yesterday was a pain because he had an earache, poor boy. I feel horrible for wondering why he could not settle easily, bad bad mother.

When does one stop feeling guilty???

Dutchoma · 24/09/2014 11:09

Never, BA, never.
Just read on Facebook: Experience is a wonderful thing; it enables you to recognise a mistake when you do it again

madhairday · 24/09/2014 11:13

Aw hope the school listen, BES, that's not really fair, they should make an exeption surely?

Hello Blessed :) Sorry to hear ds is not sleeping so well. I don't think the guilt ever stops, sorry!! Cake Mine are now 14 and 10 and still going strong with it Wine Hope he is better today and you find a good solution. It's so long ago for me I hardly remember what we did, a mishmash of lots of different advice from what I remember, anything to get trhough the day/night!! I think we did some of the baby whisperer stuff with ds which did work - eventually. We never did cry it out but I suppose we did a toned down CC thing with the baby whisperer. I don't think there is one solution unfortunately...will pray for you!

Ugh, its rainy, and cold :(

PurplePidjin · 24/09/2014 12:10

DS was a horrendous sleeper, it improved slightly when he got crawling then immensely when he was fully on his feet - at 9m he was sleeping 6 hours then waking every 2 for milk, at 11m I night weaned him, by 15m he was walking everywhere and started going 12+ hours with a proper 1.5-2 hour nap in the day. It does improve, and I'm not sure there's much I could have tried that would help until he was ready iyswim. So lots of prayers, take any help you can get and sleep when you're able. I found that changing my mindset about "help" made me more able to accept it; dp wasn't "helping" me by having ds for an hour or two, he was strengthening their bond. Ditto grandparents etc.

Good luck bes

DP has done lots of applications so prayers for a nice, safe, secure job for him please :)

cloutiedumpling · 24/09/2014 13:11

Blessed - we didn't leave the kids to cry it out, but we would leave them crying for a few minutes before going back in to pick them up. Certainly long enough to use the toilet. We tried using a fan with DS1. He seemed to like the sound of it and would listen to it rather than cry. DS2 seemed to like music and would listen to the radio. I often had it tuned to classic fm. He would wake up though at the end of a piece. I was given a great cd which ran one classical tune into another and it often sent him to sleep. We don't need it any more so send me a pm if you'd like me to send it to you.

BlessedAssurance · 25/09/2014 14:16

Thanks Oma and Mhd. I feel better knowing the guilt does not go away:) I have a feeling a tooth will pop out any time soon so that might explain the screaming when i leave the room or am in it:).

Cloutie i have help from Dh but as he is Ebf it is not much. As soon as he cries he is shoved back to mummy because??? You guessed it, hungry. Forget he has just fed 5 min before. Whole family is in another continent. Mil leaves 10min away but Mnetters here know that that is a no go area. She sees Dc when it suits her and we are not close. She has seen Ds 3 times since he was born..

BlessedAssurance · 25/09/2014 14:17

Oh dear. It is Ds who is EBF, not Dh:). I need sleep...although in retrospect!!!

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 25/09/2014 17:08

BES did you see my post to you about a helpline? I need some advice.

BlackeyedSusan · 25/09/2014 17:39

oops no. I probably read all the words in the wrong order.

the special needs children board is really the place to ask. "they knows everything"

BlackeyedSusan · 25/09/2014 20:01

somebody has been splashing water on the children at school.....

some bloke in a big purple dress.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 25/09/2014 20:17

Christening?
