Welcome to our new prayer thread for summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, for her dad to recover well after his recent operation;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt, and also for her decision about her DS's schooling, and for his health;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for health for both her DC, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for her life with her new baby, for her relationship with her MIL, and for her family who are far away;

... Bluetinkerbell, for her DH's training to go well;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DidotheDodo, thanking God for the safe arrival of her granddaughter;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for her finances, for bullying issues around her DD, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time; also praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her brother who has been out of contact - may be be safe and well, and may he be in touch with Ginger or her sister soon;

... Iwantdogger, for her pregnancy - may her little one hand on in there and grow and develop strong and healthy;

... jan2014 for her decision to split with her DH, and for health and energy for her; also praying for her brother and his family, for his difficulties with alcohol;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her and her DS as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce;

... MadHairDay, for health for all in the MHD household, and for less stressful times for her DC

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum;

... PositiveAttitude, as she gets used to living with her DH again after a long time apart and for her new work as a Deacon in her church; also praying for PA's parents' health, and for her DDs and DS in their various situations;

... Question of Faith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to rediscover their love for one another and their lives together;

... Roomforalittleone, for her DS who has pneumonia, and for a good outcome from her Reader panel;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, after the loss of a close family friend, and for the work that she does with others who are bereaved;

... tunnocksteacake and her family as they cope with her DH's illness;

... weegiemum for strength to cope with her illness; and for

... ZingWhale as she approaches the end of her pregnancy.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Calm us, O Lord, as You stilled the storm.
Still us, O Lord, keep us from harm.
Let all the tumult within us cease.
Enfold us, Lord, in Your peace. Amen.

my baby has flown the nest. hoping that it does not become lunch for something.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/09/2014 15:46

it did take a lot of chasing round the kitchen to get it out of the window... I took a couple of photos and it landed on my t shirt for a scond or two..

one is still a pupa.

one is still missing.

Hello from me, too.

I've just been catching up and praying through.

I've had a good first week back at work. I'm getting my head round new responsibilities and finding it tiring but rewarding. And I am still amazed at how well work fits around family and how gradual my transition back to work is being - just a bit at a time, as much as I can handle. I'm not up to full-time, full responsibility yet, but I will be, when the DCs are old enough. A year ago, I was just volunteering 5 hours a week and wondering if I would ever manage more than that, so I've come a long way. God be praised!

Pipbin · 07/09/2014 20:27

Prayers for your IVF pipbin and beyond also that in whatever the way forward is, you find peace.

What a lovely comment.
Thank you for all your thoughts ladies.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/09/2014 08:04

ds has just told me there is a large spider in his room, like the one in the bath, that has quite strangely not moved for a few hours and is a little flatter than it was.

Dutchoma · 08/09/2014 08:25

And you are alright with caterpillars but not with spiders? I'm the other way round and would gladly catch it for you.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/09/2014 14:26

I am struggling. a bit panicky about things. school could not get hold of me on friday and I am not sure why as both phones were working. and it is spider season which always leaves me on edge... and I am scared I have forgotten something... and there is so much I need to do... I am freezing with the fear.

PurplePidjin · 08/09/2014 15:48

BES conkers repel spider, go for a lovely walk with the dc to collect loads and pop a couple in each corner of your rooms. And start with a Brew and a list :)

Write "Write To Do List" as the first item so you can cross something off nice and quickly

BlackeyedSusan · 08/09/2014 15:53

not this one. bloody thing ran and hid near the 500 or so conkers that are stacked in the children's room.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/09/2014 21:39

the children were just going to bed when Istarted to write this post. Monday is always late after gym and ds dropped his veggies, needless to say this delayed things considerably.

so today it has been school run... check charity shop, physio/ot in school with the children til 10.30, shopping to top up with milk and bananas, put shopping away, check drying room for stuff that needs to be emptied out for the painter, clean bath, toilet, spend a while doing a difficult diy, collect children, pay fees trip to library, bath children, tea, it feels like I have not got much done as I have made very little forward progress...

Tuo · 10/09/2014 11:51

Hello all.

BES - Your day sounds very productive to me... you must be exhausted. Sending you prayers for strength and energy for the coming days. Also praying that your eight-legged friend decides to move in with someone else.

Charlotte - It's good to see you. Thanking God for your job and for a good start to the year.

Madcap - Thanking God for a good start to the rugby season, despite the rain.

I am struggling a bit here. Not really coping with the transition from mega-mega-busy to left to my own devices to (ha!) think deep and original (I wish) thoughts all day long. I find myself staring into space a lot, making - and not drinking - coffee, wishing I was back in the office (madness!), and generally wasting time. And then feeling stressed about not having achieved anything. I'd appreciate prayers for focus and getting-things-done-ness. I know that getting started is the hardest bit. But I need to find a way to do it...

On the other hand, this is one of the Northumbria Community's readings for today:

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing your joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield. (Psalm 5: 11-12)

Tuo do you have any hobbies - crafty stuff like knitting or crochet, something sporty you'd like to do more of? Or could you maybe spare some time in a local charity shop so you have the company of colleagues even if it's not as "officey" as you're used to?

Tuo · 10/09/2014 13:41

I've started trying to learn the piano, Pidjin and that's good. Better to go and make a horrid noise for 10 minutes than to stare out of the window and feel rubbish about myself! (My neighbours might beg to differ...!) I think I'll feel differently once I get myself motivated, it's just a big change for me to get used to, IYKWIM.

thank God that I found a watermelon... in the third supermarket I tried.

I also reallyenjoyed taking the car up the motorway (to the third supermarket) and managed to get the right gears (new one changes later than old) to get good acceleration for joining the motorway.

hoping you get thinking tuo.

Kaykat · 10/09/2014 16:33

I'm please to report that things have improved the past week. Ex has either backed off or DS ignoring him and he has been fine with me and a lot happier.

BlessedAssurance sends her greetings. She is very busy with the baby who doesn't sleep too well at nights.

Dutchoma · 10/09/2014 16:37

Phew Kay that's a relief to hear.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/09/2014 22:12

it has been one of those days...

Questionoffaith · 10/09/2014 22:16

Kay so pleased to read that. Long may it continue!

Tuo · 10/09/2014 23:10

Now that is an answer to prayer, Kay. So pleased to hear it and long may it continue.

BES praying for a better day tomorrow.

QoF - How are things with you? Continuing to pray for you, your DH, your family, and your future.

Also keeping Pipbin in mind at this stressful time, and praying for good health for MHD.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/09/2014 07:06

right it has been a week and one day in school and I am already that parent. First it was going in to find a lost piece of uniform... now an email about homework..

Kaykat · 11/09/2014 07:14

More nasty accusations from ex to DS. Poor DS gets a haunted look on his face when he reads the texts. If he continues to be ok with me today I will have some hope that he's starting to see through it. Ex tells DS I am destroying everything 'he' owns (like our house that we own jointly which may have to be sold) and that I am destroying his whole future because that's the kind of nasty person your mum is. Ex isn't going to stop this so instead I pray that DS will see the truth.

Dutchoma · 11/09/2014 07:54

Just as you thought he was stopping. That's really sad. Hope your brother can have another word and that ds will open up to him.

BES All I can say is that you'd better grow in the role of 'that' mother. Evil Grin. You'll be good at it.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/09/2014 08:11

had plenty of practice. normally give them a month to lull them into a flase sense of security settle in.
