There are so many more things we can talk about under this heading. So for those interested & those who arent sure , but would like to put there thoughts in to. I have started a discussion. Tell us what experiences you have had, whether it be on your own or with the help of a therapy or a reader (of all kinds) or whatever way it has come. Recommend books or therapies that have been transformative or have set light bulbs off !!! Or even that it freaks you out a bit!!

New age ponces are the ones who take it soooo seriously and lose all traces of a sense of humour. I used to go to a writing group, and one week this woman was spouting off about how "one creates one's own reality". Someone said "what about the starving children in sudan?" and she just shrugged, as if to say they had created that reality for themselves. Still makes my blood boil thinking about it now grrr

Also there seems to be a certain type of middle aged neurotic woman who dabbles in lots and lots of different new age therapies and theories and says how great they are but is actually the most miserable and humourless creature one has ever met!

I agree with that, spacemonkey

When I get my life back a bit again (i.e. when I'm not pregnant and baby has grown up a bit so I actually can scrape some "me" time again!) I'd like to train as a druid. No, seriously. Does that count?

When I was cooking (for a living) in a cafe attached to a church hall I scalded my hand very badly and naturally let out a string of profanities. That brought the leader of the 'Healing through spiritual song' workshop who was using the hall. He took my hand and drew out the pain with a few bars of what sounded like Anne from Little Britain.
Fortunately my kitchen helper was quick enough to restrain me from clipping him round the head with a fishslice.

I haven't but my great aunt and great grandfather were spiritualists and mediums. Great aunty kitty founded the spiritualist church on the isle of man, and she saw a guardian angel over my sister's head when she was baptised. Apparently. Not been myself but it's intriguing.

Thats not me Spacemonkey & Im not middleaged. Im not into that kind of thinking. I dont know how to explain hunger in the world, makes me angry to to think about the many people who flounder there money/food away. But thats another discussion .Im not a self rightious type. I believe that everyone should be thoughful & loving. Otherwise that means I wanted however many millions of my religion killed in the 2nd world war & that we were to blame and neeeded it as a life lesson. I think that were a lot of it falls down.

My interests are spritual experinces to do with after life, watching interactions for messages, including negative ones. Although it is painful & difficult soemtimes.Physicic stuff. I had a clairvoyant reading on Friday and she said stuff about my family members and she picked up on character traits of individuals. My BIL thinks I was telling her stuff from body langauge , but it was shocking how she new idiosyncrancies and SPECIFIC issues within my family. My husband thinks these people pray on vulnrable people like me. I am going through some intense therapy at the mo. I also had a physchic reading last year in Arizona by a famous pshychic. Whihc he taped for me.

An old friend was a wounded solider from a french war in her past life. She hadnt told the women that she was half french, she has no outward indication fo this either. She had terrible leg problems & this war guy had been involved in a bombing incident and had shrapnel wounds up and down his legs. freaky huh !!

There are many interesting aspects of this thread and I certainly don't mean to be derisory to anything from which people take comfort.
IMHO the supernatural, or the belief in, is a function of the human brain and has more to do with neuro science than spirits.

spacemonkey · 24/03/2004 15:19

I keep an open mind although I tend to agree with suzy. I think so-called scientists who poo poo such things are being incredibly arrogant. There's so much we don't (and can never) know IMO.

suzywong · 24/03/2004 15:21

this may be of interest as a counterpoint. But I do believe that anything that is not for profit or predatory which gives comfort to the berieved is OK

Suzywong, understand what you're saying but noone really knows do the? could be true, could be a load of old (like scene in Carry On Abroad when Sid James becomes the clairvoyant and makes it all up as he knows Kenneth Williams>>.Interesting thread and way i look at it keep an open mind because noone knows the answers but very helpful to people

anyone ever seen a ghost? Melsy, glad someone else believes in life after death...I mean energy can't be destroyed so something must happen...it's not really scarey just very interesting (but not for everyone I imagine)

There is all of that too Suzy , I am still not sure wether to beleive it or not, but when 2 physchics / clairvoyanst say some similar things to do with you , then may be there is something there. What is the neuro Science suzy ?? Any way of explainingit briefly ??

I am not completely airy fairy,if any one wthinks that now!! I am quite down to earth. I just like to look at things differently & not to be trendy or purposely eccentric or trying to be "in". Im just in tune with it.

Papillon tell me more about the Kundalini, I read about it when trying to understand my so called panic attack. It can be an unpleasant feeling aswill cant it ??
