A new Christian prayer thread, just in time for Easter!

Welcome to our new prayer thread... just in time for Holy Week and Easter.

This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt - this has been a very tough time for the family... may spring bring them happier times;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for breast-feeding to settle down for her following the birth of her baby son, for her relationship with her extended family (and in particular her MIL and her bonkers baby-naming ideas ), and for her parents who are far away;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for support for her to do all the things she'd like to be able to do, for her DC, for difficult relationships at work, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, for her relationship with her DH, for the final 'tweaks' to her thesis, and for friendship for her DS;

... ALittleFaith, for baby Faithlet as she approaches her first birthday, for Faith's work to bring her joy and not exhaustion, and for her to find happiness and fulfilment in her church;

... jan2014 for her to understand what the right thing to do is vis-a-vis her relationship with her DH, and for her to have the courage to do what needs to be done, and to find support in doing it; also for her new church to be a place where she finds love and support and welcome;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and continuing to pray for her situation, that she receive the moral and practical support she needs for herself and her DS

... MadHairDay, for her health to improve this spring and for her to stay out of hospital, and for health, friendship, and freedom from bullying for MHD's DD;

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum; and for

... PositiveAttitude, praying for the right outcome for PA's DH as he decides between a career opportunity at home and a return to Cambodia; also praying for PA's parents health, for her DD3 and DGS as they move into their own home, and for her other three DDs and one DS in their various situations; and finally praying for peace for PA herself and - whatever happens work-wise in the UK and/or abroad - for God to provide for her and her family.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream Bluetinkerbell, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, RoomForALittleOne, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, weegiemum, youretoastmildred, ZingSweetApple, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord, in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Praying for safekeeping for your son Sunshinemum. It's hard to let them go whatever age they are.
Not lot to say about dd PA. Praying for all the arrangements for dh's return and for a job for him.
I don't know whether my prayers for MHD worked but we had a lovely afternoon. Went out with ds's dmil and we had a brilliant time. Tea and cake in the sun in a garden centre that is hard to get to on the bus and a lift home with half the garden centre in the boot. That is of course without exaggeration.Grin

good maorning all. we are having a mental health day and not going to church. ds is not talking which is unusual on a day off school. he is not talking to his sister either. it is certainly testing my powers of deduction! I have a sinussy earachy cold.

CharlotteCollins · 08/06/2014 13:43

Praying for your head, BES.

Echoing PA's words to you, DO. I was thinking about you a day or two ago and composing something to say to you in my head - but don't seem to have got around to sending it. I was thinking of and praying for you anyway.

I slept for 11 hours last night. Needed that. Now to do enough today that I can sleep at a reasonable time tonight!

Dutchoma · 08/06/2014 14:22

Wow, Charlotte 11 hours, you must have needed that. I'm sorry I missed your 'composition' . This morning I have planted the 'half of the garden centre' and it looks very nice even if I say so myself.

PositiveAttitude · 08/06/2014 15:08

Glorious sunshine and lovely and hot here, DO. Hope it is where youa re and you can sit outside and enjoy your hard work.

Dutchoma · 08/06/2014 15:17

Working hard on my Mumsnet/Chernobyl blanket, but yes, in glorious sunshine.

Thank you, I've had a great day. I had a five-mile walk to an art exhibition and back. And have thought deep thoughts about eschatology. Should all help me sleep. :o

Oh do share your deep eschatological ponderings Charlotte ! Always a fun subject :) (we should revive the chat thread)

Thanks for your prayers lovely DO and others - it started out rainy but broke into beautiful sunshine and we had hundreds and hundreds of people through - prob over a thousand so we were absolutely thrilled - it was great and the dc loved it. dh is completely shattered now as he took a service this morning and spent the afternoon washing down an inflatable church. Don't ask Grin

PA - wow - big news for you then - praying that everything is sorted his end and for jobs this end, and that everything goes really smoothly for you :)

madhairday · 08/06/2014 19:25

Shared sense of humour is wonderful in DCs!

Annihilation, mhd. I have been having uncomfortable thoughts about hell for a while and finally plucked up the courage to see if any greater minds thought similarly. Turns out they do! I have been finding out about Edward Fudge - great name! His book argues that eternal conscious torment as a doctrine has no place in Christianity - it is unbiblical. For a while I have wondered how it fits in with the tree of life imagery in the garden of Eden story.

CharlotteCollins · 08/06/2014 20:39

Not to mention John 3:16 with its talk of perishing - not suffering eternal abandonment.

So, there is the first death, then judgement, then the second death for those who want nothing to do with God's gift of eternal life.

Far better than unending suffering. Finding out it's basically Greek dualism and medieval torture fascination has really cheered me.

That and the lovely evening sunshine!

Evening All. I'm back in the land of the Internet after a wonderful, if totally exhausting weekend in the Lake District. My Reader's Panel seemed to go well in that I managed to articulate rather than getting mummy-brain.

A week tomorrow and the packers will be in for our move up North. Please will you pray for energy for me to get us all sorted and some relief to the increasingly bad nausea that I've had? I thought I was just tense about Reader's Panel but I guess that moving house is the real issue.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/06/2014 22:31

you know those signs that say wet paint? well guess who always likes to check? uh huh! so saying "Don't ask" is just asking to be asked...

WHAT THE HECK IS AN INFLATABLE CHURCH?

there's always one... and it is usually me.

prayers today have been of the "oh god oh god oh god variety of the not quite feeling like I am coping with the stress. I have made some progress with the clearing thekitchen midden in time for the man to come on tuesday. unfortuately some of the clearing is remiddening other areas of the flat.

ex forgot he agreed to me having his car this week so there was a bit of a curfuffle I have car keys and car now. we are desperate to get another car to get us both mobile again.

he was hving a mega stress about catching the train intime in the pouring rain... the sun come out for him to walk to the station though. I was having a mega stress about him forgetting to bring the keys back after sorting out what he wants from the boot of his car. I need to put the car in the garage and it is not going to fit as I was planning to put the old car seats in the boot and get it in the garage.

I am going to physio tomorrow and feel physically sick at the thought. I hate finding new places.

Dutchoma · 08/06/2014 23:19

I wanted to ask too, BES. So much stress.

Lots of stress for Room too. At least you can tick the panel meeting off the list for now.

Good night everybody.

Tuo · 09/06/2014 00:37

Sorry for being so quiet. I am lurking and praying but a bit overwhelmed with work at the moment. Another couple of weeks and things should calm down a bit. You are all in my thoughts and I catch up with the thread when I can.

Thanks for the lovely prayer, sunshine. This Pentecost may the loving power of the Holy Spirit be with us all. .
