A new Christian prayer thread, just in time for Easter!

Welcome to our new prayer thread... just in time for Holy Week and Easter.

This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt - this has been a very tough time for the family... may spring bring them happier times;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for breast-feeding to settle down for her following the birth of her baby son, for her relationship with her extended family (and in particular her MIL and her bonkers baby-naming ideas ), and for her parents who are far away;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for support for her to do all the things she'd like to be able to do, for her DC, for difficult relationships at work, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, for her relationship with her DH, for the final 'tweaks' to her thesis, and for friendship for her DS;

... ALittleFaith, for baby Faithlet as she approaches her first birthday, for Faith's work to bring her joy and not exhaustion, and for her to find happiness and fulfilment in her church;

... jan2014 for her to understand what the right thing to do is vis-a-vis her relationship with her DH, and for her to have the courage to do what needs to be done, and to find support in doing it; also for her new church to be a place where she finds love and support and welcome;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and continuing to pray for her situation, that she receive the moral and practical support she needs for herself and her DS

... MadHairDay, for her health to improve this spring and for her to stay out of hospital, and for health, friendship, and freedom from bullying for MHD's DD;

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum; and for

... PositiveAttitude, praying for the right outcome for PA's DH as he decides between a career opportunity at home and a return to Cambodia; also praying for PA's parents health, for her DD3 and DGS as they move into their own home, and for her other three DDs and one DS in their various situations; and finally praying for peace for PA herself and - whatever happens work-wise in the UK and/or abroad - for God to provide for her and her family.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream Bluetinkerbell, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, RoomForALittleOne, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, weegiemum, youretoastmildred, ZingSweetApple, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord, in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Iwantdogger (I do too) prayers for your little bean. And for you. The limbo is horrible as is the miscarriage. Praying for that 'peace that passes all understanding'. Let us know how it goes.

PA MEN!! Praying for communication to be helpful and kind. And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 10:59

I have images of your dh going to hospital to have a bent bicycle frame remove from around his upper torso....

it must be quite hard to adjust to being back for him and for you to adjust to having the grumpy sod him back again. hope you have a good rest of your anniversary.

oh dear I want. It seems incredibly long until tuesday. hoping that the news is good news.

now listen... can you hear that? no whining or fighting over the computer. Both are back in school. thanK God that dd got back in time for her trip.

ALittleFaith · 02/07/2014 13:38

Hello.

We are well thank you Tuo. Faithlet is currently snoozing! She's 14 months now, starting to talk (knows maybe 15 words) and getting confident walking! I'm not loving work but have an interview next Monday for an outpatients job which could be interesting. Pleased to say Dad is doing well. They're going to tweak his medication. May be out today or tomorrow.

IwantDogger will be praying for a growing baby.

PA I hope your DH sorts himself out so you can enjoy your day.

Enjoy the peace bes!

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 02/07/2014 16:51

Need a good moan.

The trouble with budgeting to every penny you have is that when something comes our unexpectedly you have nothing left. I keep a spreadsheet, it lists all sorts of the things including annual expenses. So tired of being broke.

I'm going to start putting away £5 per week to somehow give me a fall back fund. Fed up of chasing my tail.

God is so good and later in the month things will be easier. I just need to get through this bit.

DD had a good day on the trip. Thank you so much for the prayers x

jan2014 · 02/07/2014 17:02

happy anniversary PA i hope you have a great time away

mome i was trying to save too for an emergency fund but last week car had to get fixed and cost me a few hundred unexpected pounds so there goes that plan

really struggling here. not coping at all since my week has changed (dd no longer has a day with MIL) and i am feeling overwhelmed and tearful a lot, not geting much chance to get online or do anything for that matter

iwantdogger welcome this is the place to come if you need understanding and prayer - praying for your little baby.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 20:38

peace did not last long. there were men with a roaring burner replaceing the roof next door. my neighbour had several men tromping up and down his stairs and nailing and banging about in his attic as they installed loft insulation.

ds has not been a happy boy since getting home from school. dd has a soore foot and is also not happy. ds is being grumpy at dd and dd is responding by wailing like she is being murdered.

Dutchoma · 02/07/2014 20:41

Roll on bed time BES

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 22:29

dd has been burned on the school trip and I need to know how to deal with it.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 02/07/2014 22:34

Sun burn? Do you have any after sun/ calamine lotion?

The teachers always tell us we have to apply it before they leave for school and they can't be responsible for it at mine.

I've started to use P20 as it lasts all day without fail. Not cheap but it lasts ages. But DD also keeps some in her book bag to re apply if she wishes.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 22:59

they say that too. it was applied before she went but probably rubbed off. suncream needs reapplying.

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 23:00

she is very fair, freckly and sensitive.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 02/07/2014 23:12

My DD is fair and freckly with her dark auburn hair. Have you tried P20? I've not looked back since. A friend recommended it who is red haired and freckled to me. I'd never heard of it until then.

You can ask the school to encourage her to re apply it, if you use normal sun cream but I wouldn't trust my school to remember, so I have to coach my DD to stay in the shade etc.

Tricky. Anyway I'm sure you'll figure it out. You always do Smile

Hope DD isn't too sore. How's her foot now?

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 23:31

not got a bloody clue about the foot. possibly pins and needles but not sure what has started as she was not sitting or lying on it. i could not get much sense out of her, ony wailing.

Praying for all tonight... especially for those feeling stressed because of financial worries, relationship breakdown, illness, bereavement, bullying or work worries.

iwantdogger - you are very welcome here. I am praying for peace for you during the long wait till your next scan, and for your LO, that s/he hangs on in there. Try to hold onto the thought of that beating heart if you can.

A prayer from tonight's Northumbria compline:

The peace of God
be over us to shelter us,
under us to uphold us,
about us to protect us,
behind us to direct us,
ever with us to save us. Amen

Can you all remember my ongoing divorce in your prayers? It is going along more smoothly than I expected thanks to my aggressive efficient solicitor. It's just that I do worry about my house and STBXHs appalling neglect of it and I would so like to be free.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/07/2014 07:40

did not sleep til three am so am really struggling.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/07/2014 11:30

every surface in the living room is draped with washing drying or airing. the windowsil is lined with cushion covers, toys draped, chairs draped with fleece blankets, toy boxes, gym ball... airer, I have restripped beds and rewashed as there is still some doubt about eyes.

ex has been told not to come if he still has sore eyes.

IWantDogger · 03/07/2014 18:42

Thankyou everybody, it is lovely to know there are people scattered around praying. I am feeling more peaceful and time is not going too slowly at the moment, evenings are the worst, just need to lay off google! I spoke to my husband about my worries a bit last night, had previously been keeping it to myself on the whole as he was not exactly over the moon about the news in the first place (understatement...) but he was helpful & supportive. I am trying to enjoy our girls (6 & 3) and be very thankful for what I have.
I may not post much but will keep you updated and am praying for you all.
