A new Christian prayer thread, just in time for Easter!

Welcome to our new prayer thread... just in time for Holy Week and Easter.

This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt - this has been a very tough time for the family... may spring bring them happier times;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for breast-feeding to settle down for her following the birth of her baby son, for her relationship with her extended family (and in particular her MIL and her bonkers baby-naming ideas ), and for her parents who are far away;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for support for her to do all the things she'd like to be able to do, for her DC, for difficult relationships at work, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, for her relationship with her DH, for the final 'tweaks' to her thesis, and for friendship for her DS;

... ALittleFaith, for baby Faithlet as she approaches her first birthday, for Faith's work to bring her joy and not exhaustion, and for her to find happiness and fulfilment in her church;

... jan2014 for her to understand what the right thing to do is vis-a-vis her relationship with her DH, and for her to have the courage to do what needs to be done, and to find support in doing it; also for her new church to be a place where she finds love and support and welcome;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and continuing to pray for her situation, that she receive the moral and practical support she needs for herself and her DS

... MadHairDay, for her health to improve this spring and for her to stay out of hospital, and for health, friendship, and freedom from bullying for MHD's DD;

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum; and for

... PositiveAttitude, praying for the right outcome for PA's DH as he decides between a career opportunity at home and a return to Cambodia; also praying for PA's parents health, for her DD3 and DGS as they move into their own home, and for her other three DDs and one DS in their various situations; and finally praying for peace for PA herself and - whatever happens work-wise in the UK and/or abroad - for God to provide for her and her family.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream Bluetinkerbell, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, RoomForALittleOne, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, weegiemum, youretoastmildred, ZingSweetApple, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord, in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

been reading and praying.

PA heart goes out to you re the little bunny! friend was minding a budgie once it got out and died on a mouse trap, so bizarre.

my exams went so well so thank you for prayers God really helped me - but i have been totally wiped out since and feeling really down. just haven't been coping so well this last while. bank holiday so the play group i usually go to isn't on need strength to get through. thinking of each of you.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2014 08:25

we are going on holiday today if i can actually get to the kitchen to pack the rest of the stuff. I had several delegations this morning before I was fully awake.

Dutchoma · 26/05/2014 09:11

And here I am, all on my lonesome and determined not to feel sorry for myself. The Chernobyl blanket is doing ever so well.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2014 10:15

hugs DO

Dutchoma · 26/05/2014 10:43

Just as I got downstairs I had a phone call from a dear friend at church asking me out to lunch. How wonderful is that?

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2014 10:47

Just popped by to see how things are and I am finding the quick answer to DO's prayer very encouraging.

I have another prayer request about my Reader Panel but I'll come back later and explain as I have to go and be sociable with my family now.

amberlight · 26/05/2014 17:20

Still praying...

NoRoomForALittleOne · 26/05/2014 21:40

Oh dear. It's all gone a bit wrong this evening. I'm down visiting family and went in to see my nan. I saw how bad a state her house is in and have told her that she needs some help. She has been really poorly and can't manage now but is refusing help. She is 91, nearly 92. She is going to get sick if she doesn't get a cleaner, never mind the personal care that she needs... Please pray for her. She isn't a Christian and I don't think she has especially long left.

I almost can't be bothered to ask for prayer about my issue with Reader Panel now as it seems inconsequential. However, I haven't received my details including the preparatory work that I need to do and the warden of readers is now on holiday. He said that he would send it by the end of last week. I can manage to do Reader Panel (and Reader Training) with 4 DCs to care for if I can plan stuff in properly. It is a lot harder when people promise stuff and then don't do it. I'm sure it's all in hand but I would really like to receive the stuff ASAP!

Questionoffaith · 26/05/2014 22:57

Praying for you all and DO hope you had a lovely lunch out.Dh was round this eve and seemed a bit lighter so please God the ads are starting to work. He was teasing ds as he used to do and it was lovely to see ds respond as I think one of the saddest things out of a whole bunch of sad things was seeing the light go out of thei relationship which has always been so good. Just come off an hr and half lovely chat with a wonderful friend where we drank a glass of wine at our respective ends and put the world to rights politically, socially, emotionally and it felt good to not feel like the whole conversation was about me and my situation as has been the case of recent weeks. Having my ups and downs through the day but overall know God has things in hand and I just need to trust.

Tuo · 26/05/2014 23:42

Hello everyone! I'm back! Had a great time, and want to thank God for a smooth(-ish) trip with lots of positive things to hold onto.

Praying for you all. Forgive me if I forget people, I'm still catching up after a looooooooooong journey back yesterday, but thinking especially of:
... PA - praying for the right words to tell your friend about her bunny, and thanking God for DD1's job;
... Oma - thanking God for prayers answered today, and praying for company and support for you tomorrow and in general;
... QoF - praying for you, your DH, and the whole family;
... Room - praying for you to get the information you need for your Reader Panel in good time, and for you in general as you follow your call; and also praying for your nan;
... jan - thanking God that your exams went well and that you felt supported through them, and praying for energy for you now that they are over;
... sunshine - praying your migraine will pass very very soon;
... niminy - thanking God that things are better with DS;
... BES - praying that you all have a good and relaxing holiday;
... amber - thinking of you;
... and everyone else, with apologies for those I've missed.

A Prayer of St Nicholas of Flue

My Lord and my God,
remove far from me
whatever keeps me from you.

My Lord and my god
confer upon me
whatever enables me to reach you.

My Lord and my God
free me from self
and make me wholly yours. Amen

I'm hoping that my nan will start talking to me again today. It's DD1's 7th birthday Shock and I'm hoping that my nan will behave!

Dutchoma · 27/05/2014 09:21

St Nicholas of Flue? That made me smile as in Holland St Nicholas, like Father Christmas, comes through the chimney.

It's really good to see a general sense of thankfulness on this thread. Of course we always have things to be grateful for, but sometimes things are easier than at other times.

The prayer is very beautiful TUO and I am glad that you are back safely.

BlessedAssurance · 27/05/2014 10:15

Hi all. Just came in for a quick read and finding out how everyone is doing. Praying through as i read. Kaykat i have been thinking of you. Sorry for not getting back to you AGAIN. We have had a women's Nordic conferance so have been butied up to my neck with chores, DS is not well as well so that has left me with no time to look at my ipad. I saw your latest post and am praying.

Oma how lovely. Hope you had a nice lunch date with your friend.

Praying for eveyone..

Ps..the theme at thr women's conferance that i just attended was " The power of the Cross". One of the things that i got from it was by worrying i was trying to solve situations in my life that God has already said He would sort out. I am trying not to but easier said than done.

Dutchoma · 27/05/2014 10:26

I think we all do that BA: we take our burden to the Cross and instead of leaving it there we pick it up again and keep carrying it around. It's hard not to.

rosteri · 27/05/2014 22:22

Hi all.
Sorry to just barge in this evening.

A poster who I am talking to on the Mental Health board has agreed that she can be added into your list of prayers please?

She is called Imsuchamess, and has been through more than most of us can imagine.
Not quite sure how much to write here. Lets just say that she is suicidal.

It's been many months since I last posted on here about trying to sell my house - maybe years even. To fill you in got married in 2009, put my house on market to join forces with DH, no offers, DS born 2010, eventually gave up and took house off market in 2011. Back on thus Jan. We've finally had an offer and accepted it and the survey was today.

Bit late but please pray it's OK, that the valuation will not be less than the offer, and that the buyer will not seek to reduce the price any further due to any work that needs doing. The offer's 20% under what we paid for it (up north, house price boom non-existent so far).

We desperately need to sell it so we can move on. Please pray it sells without a hitch.

NoRoomForALittleOne · 27/05/2014 23:30

Praying for Imsuchamess - may you know the peace of The Lord, not peace as in an absence of rubbish stuff but the sort of inner quietness that God can give us despite everything else in our life being/feeling rubbish.

Prayers for Panda's house sale. I'm still scarred from selling our house last year! May it go through speedily for you.

I have answers to prayer! My nan is talking to me again although still refusing help. And, my Reader stuff came through. I have a lot of prep to do in not much time but I feel like I have a plan at least...

Dutchoma · 28/05/2014 08:15

Imsuchamess praying for you right now, that you will know that God is the Lord of you, mind, body and soul. That you are loved by Him, that He cares for you and that He can be absolutely trusted. I pray that you will find a Christian friend in real life, who will assure you that this is true, so that you will find rest for your soul.
Thank you rosteri for bringing your friend to this board.

Yes, a very good prayer, I thought - and a great name!

Also praying for Imsuchamess, praying through the words other people have used upthread and also an image of you being held up while the storm rages round you.

Questionoffaith · 28/05/2014 21:40

GP has said that dh had a complete nervous breakdown as well as severe depression. Tried to talk to him tonight but we keep going round in circles. He is angry with me as feels wasn't there for him. I try and explain I had no idea things were as bad as they were because he didn't communicate with me. Can I ask for prayers please? I suppose we wont make much progress one way or another until he is mentally well but this limbo stage is awful.

Questionoffaith · 28/05/2014 21:43

Am also praying for imsuchamess
