A new Christian prayer thread, just in time for Easter!

Welcome to our new prayer thread... just in time for Holy Week and Easter.

This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad and for her aunt - this has been a very tough time for the family... may spring bring them happier times;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school, and for her to feel welcomed, accepted and supported at her church;

... BlessedAssurance, for breast-feeding to settle down for her following the birth of her baby son, for her relationship with her extended family (and in particular her MIL and her bonkers baby-naming ideas ), and for her parents who are far away;

... CharlotteCollins, for her new life as a single mum - may she be happy and fulfilled and supported in it;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for support for her to do all the things she'd like to be able to do, for her DC, for difficult relationships at work, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she grieves for Bob, that she may find peace of mind, love and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, for her relationship with her DH, for the final 'tweaks' to her thesis, and for friendship for her DS;

... ALittleFaith, for baby Faithlet as she approaches her first birthday, for Faith's work to bring her joy and not exhaustion, and for her to find happiness and fulfilment in her church;

... jan2014 for her to understand what the right thing to do is vis-a-vis her relationship with her DH, and for her to have the courage to do what needs to be done, and to find support in doing it; also for her new church to be a place where she finds love and support and welcome;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for her sister and her family as they grieve the loss of Juggling's nephew;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and continuing to pray for her situation, that she receive the moral and practical support she needs for herself and her DS

... MadHairDay, for her health to improve this spring and for her to stay out of hospital, and for health, friendship, and freedom from bullying for MHD's DD;

... PandaG, as she and her family grieve the loss of her mum; and for

... PositiveAttitude, praying for the right outcome for PA's DH as he decides between a career opportunity at home and a return to Cambodia; also praying for PA's parents health, for her DD3 and DGS as they move into their own home, and for her other three DDs and one DS in their various situations; and finally praying for peace for PA herself and - whatever happens work-wise in the UK and/or abroad - for God to provide for her and her family.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: boxofdelights, bountyicecream Bluetinkerbell, CheerfulYank, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger, JakeBullet, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, niminypiminy, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, revivingshower, RoomForALittleOne, saintsalive, SchrodingersFerret, SEStheBrave, Soozi, SunshinemMum, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, weegiemum, youretoastmildred, ZingSweetApple, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord, in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

It would have been Bob's birthday today...

Questionoffaith · 08/05/2014 08:20

DO I know I am a newbie so I hope it is appropriate posting but as I said above I was a bit of a lurker on these threads for a while so have seen what you have gone through. I don't know what to say except this date will always be Bobs birthday albeit he is now spending it with The Lord and I pray you have a day today where you are able to celebrate that fact, celebrate the years on earth he had and you had together and feel some peace in that. And if you can't and need to fall apart and rant and rage then that is ok too Smile. I know God is with you however you deal with another one of those horrible Firsts.

Dutchoma · 08/05/2014 08:40

Thanks, QoF

jan2014 · 08/05/2014 08:54

Oma - massive hugs to you. im sure you are feeling so emotional today. i hope you have some support. youre in my thoughts and prayers

madhairday · 08/05/2014 09:47

Dearest Oma. I am praying for you now. For comfort and blessing today.

Blessed was back in the mists of time for me but I really struggled bfing dd and got help from a counsellor and the kellymom site - I know the bfing boards here are good too. I think the advice I had was to feed from the empty side as much as possible. Could it be a blocked duct or anything like that? Hope you are ok. It is such an emotional time. Go easy on yourself.

Juggling Thanks

Thanks all for your lovely words and prayers. Definitely escaping today after lunch. Praying that it goes well practically as dh has to go to a parents evening for dd so we need to get home by then which may be a hit tight what with waiting for discharge etc...

cloutiedumpling · 08/05/2014 09:47

Hugs Oma.

niminypiminy · 08/05/2014 10:55

Love and prayers, Oma.

It is Julian of Norwich's day today, so here are her lovely words: 'All will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well.'

Dutchoma · 08/05/2014 12:39

Dutchoma · 08/05/2014 16:45

Zing, that is lovely of you. Well, I did go out this morning and this afternoon, but heard that choir practice isn't until next week. That suits me.

BlessedAssurance · 08/05/2014 17:30

OmaThanks Bob is celebrating his birthday, only in higher and much fancier places and with The King Himself. Thinking of you and sending you a huge hug.

BlessedAssurance · 08/05/2014 17:32

MHD-thank you. I have been feeding on the one that is not producing milk and it is looking better. Thank you all for the advice.

GingerCurl · 08/05/2014 22:43

I hope your day was OK Oma
Lurking. Don't have much to say at the moment. Am trying to address the examiners' comments on the thesis. The Marriage course is good, if tough going at times. Easter and bank holidays has made it drag out somewhat but it is really useful. Thank you for suggesting it.

jan2014 · 09/05/2014 06:24

Glad to hear you're home mhd Brew

PositiveAttitude · 09/05/2014 20:55

Hi Ladies,

Not good here. Dentist appointment was ok, and I was given antibiotics. I was determined to be ok so welcomed homegroup as normal last night. One of the members is a paramedic and half way through the evening she stopped proceedings and carted me off to hospital. The pain was indescribable and my body had gone into shock because of it. Dr was a lovely man - Christian - and I was dosed up on painkillers and sent home. I was told to return this morning for more meds (pharmacy was not open last night) so I drove up this morning and got told off for driving under the influence of drugs!! I felt terrible! I would never have done it if I had realised, but I was a danger. Good job it is only 10 mins away. So my friend had to come and sort me out once more and bring me home! I will be dosing myself up again in a minute, then up to bed - hopefully for a good nights sleep and painfree. Medication is making my head spin and I feel really sick. Anyway, I want to thank God for wonderful caring friends and pray for a painfree night.

I am also disappointed that I have had to cancel a "pudding party" for a load of church ladies tonight! DS is most upset that he will not come home from work to left over puddings! Hmm Suckig jelly would have been my limit tonight!

BlackeyedSusan · 09/05/2014 21:18

computer has been very awkward so posting and running.

had a car accident yesterday and ended up at a and e with the children. sore but ok. insurance sorting.

BlackeyedSusan · 09/05/2014 21:19

the back of my car is crumpled. and the bottom has sort of folded up. the cover for the spare tyre has broken and the boot is now all humpy instead of flat bottomed.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 09/05/2014 21:30

Oh PA how horrible but what lovely friends you have. Sleep well and prayers that the AB start to work.

BES it never rains but it pours! Is your car a write off? Glad you're ok if sore and the DCs are ok. You poor thing. So much for you to deal with. Prayers that the insurance co sort it all out asap x

Super tired here and grumpy. Think I maybe coming down with a cold. The kids are waking so early. I'm shattered. Off to bed, hoping for good sleep and to wake refreshed.

BlessedAssurance · 10/05/2014 03:02
