Have nc for this but only becuase I am busy as it were on other threads.

I am having trouble getting my head around something.

I am a committed christian.

When things go wrong, and I am really just talking about very minor things that other people have done to you, how much of that has been orchestrated by God?
Any of it? None of it? Somewhere in between?

Thanks

Nothing than can be proved though head.

Mainly things that have never happened, never got worse, not developed into what some people would say they would, things which have just got better. You would say these were spontaneous events because you do not believe in prayer or Faith affecting any life events.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:10

To me, I have had prayers that have been answered immediately, the next day, month, months or in a steady positive progression over years.

I have also experienced some very beneficial and informative coincidences.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:14

And I do care about offending you head. Even if you don't care about been offended.

I also don't want to lay out for you, all the experiences that are precious to me, and lay these open to having any negative connotation with offense or ridicule.

I do witness to people who are open to receiving my witness. You have probably encountered that, in some of my more candid moments. However I do not do this 'on demand' so to speak. I have nothing to prove to you.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:30

atthestroke correct me if I'm wrong though but witchcraft concerns beliefs surroundinding ritual though...and some deals with spirits.

Well the people I have known who have practised have mentioned this, although I know at least two who have had their fingers metaphorically burnt and were terrified of the type of power they encountered. One converted to Roman Catholicism due to this, they were the only church found who were confident enough to deal with it.

headinhands · 20/03/2014 16:37

Well I think you do have something to prove. You've told me you have the creator of the universe fixing your problems but as usual you don't have a shred of evidence.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:43

head this thread concerns beliefs, they don't have to be proved, the question concerns the influence of God.

If you don't believe in God you cannot really argue about who He is or what He does.

You don't believe, you've made this clear.

headinhands · 20/03/2014 16:48

But god either exists or he doesn't. He is either meddling in your life or he isn't. I would expect some evidence at least, don't you find it the least bit odd that there is no evidence whatsoever? None at all?!

headinhands · 20/03/2014 16:50

*you cannot really argue about who He is or what He does"

No but I can point out the gulf between what you say he does and reality.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:56

But a spirit does not exist in the physical sense, otherwise it would be physical matter.

God is a spirit. However He also came to earth in Jesus as man and can live in us. Spirit inside physical matter. However the non physical entity part cannot be proved as it does not exist in the physical sense of existing.

The spirit affects physical matter, but is spirit in nature, manifestations of spirit can take place this way. However once the spirit has manifested into the physical, it is matter, it becomes physical phenomenon.

capsium · 20/03/2014 16:58

Truth can exist beyond human realisation of it.

headinhands · 20/03/2014 17:00

You want some dressing for that word salad?

Okay. Some evidence of when the spirit has influenced the physical world please?

capsium · 20/03/2014 17:04

Strong beliefs (spiritual element) causing hallucinations which are physically measurable in terms of brain physiology / brain chemistry / pathology.

Not a particularly good thing, an illness, though.

capsium · 20/03/2014 17:06

^ in terms of illness I am talking negative spiritual influence.

capsium · 20/03/2014 17:08

Stress (negative spiritual influence) causing high blood pressure.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 20/03/2014 17:20

"negative spiritual influence"? You mean satan?

capsium · 20/03/2014 17:22

atthestroke Does the name matter? Think of it as terminology, if it helps.

capsium · 20/03/2014 17:26

In my terminology Satan is a negative spiritual influence. I expect you would relate Satan to some other old god(s).

However I believe there is only one true God and Creator. Any spirit which is not aligned with God, and good, is evil in my belief system.

headinhands · 20/03/2014 17:56

You have some evidence that this is spiritual in origin? Its handy that these spiritual problems often respond to chemicals. (even without the individual knowing)

capsium · 20/03/2014 18:15

Physical matter, the body, responds to chemicals. However if the negative spiritual influence is not combatted and the chemical treatment is withdrawn, the physical symptoms manifest again. It takes the negative spiritual influence to be combatted, for full healing to take place.

No evidence? Think of what I am saying as a thought experiment then.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 20/03/2014 18:16

Does my mother need an exorcism for her hypertension then?

capsium · 20/03/2014 18:19

Sometimes I believe the chemical based medicine helps, combatting physical symptoms can reduce stress or anxiety, which as I view it is a negative spiritual influence.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 20/03/2014 18:23

So my mother should drop her medication and see a priest?

capsium · 20/03/2014 18:30

antthe interesting question, is she possessed? If the person carrying it out had full Faith in it, I believe it would work. Need not be very dramatic though, like it is in the films. Just words spoken in absolute authority. Look how Jesus did this.

Usually people talk about healing though, with illnesses. The receiver has to have some Faith, though too, for it to work. And sometimes the healer will lay on hands. Again does not have to be very dramatic or even with immediate results.

capsium · 20/03/2014 18:33

attgestroke Faith does not prohibit taking medicine. She still can be healed by Faith though. When healing occurred the medicine would not be needed, which would be detected by the doctor, I would hope.

capsium · 20/03/2014 18:38

I just think if chemical medicine treating symptoms that it all, which is important and valuable, as some symptoms can be lethal.

Looking at causes though, and combatting them, I also consider spiritual aspects.
