Have nc for this but only becuase I am busy as it were on other threads.

I am having trouble getting my head around something.

I am a committed christian.

When things go wrong, and I am really just talking about very minor things that other people have done to you, how much of that has been orchestrated by God?
Any of it? None of it? Somewhere in between?

Thanks

^evil can be. Typo.

ferrar · 18/03/2014 18:15

Not sure what to say at the moment. I am reading the posts with interest. [I am a frequent nc, ie the op].

Is the D[dont like to type the full word], in the miniature of life? I suppose he is?

And where does God's ringfencing come in?

Is God's shield just for larger events? But that doesnt seem quite right to me.

Glad I started the thread btw. I need this thrashed out.

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:23

ferrar I believe God is concerned with everything, down to the most minute minutiae, the 'shield' is available for all.

The Devil is the opposing force.

However the biggest thing is that Redemption is available through Christ, Faith in this combats evil. Concentrating on Christ and His power overcomes evil.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 18:26

Why doesn't god just overcome evil himself? Easy if you are all powerful.

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:27

'Ringfencing' I suppose refers to how Faith in Christ separates and protects through the Redemption. It changes you at the spiritual level, you are no longer a 'slave to sin' but 'free in Christ'.

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:27

atthestroke He already has...

ferrar · 18/03/2014 18:28

So if we had stronger faith, we wouldnt stub our toe? Or somebody wouldnt do something we didnt like to us, like shout at us even though we were not doing anything wrong?

ferrar · 18/03/2014 18:31

I am glad that atthestrokeoftwelve is on the thread too. Even though I am a christian, I too wonder about the God being all powerful bit.
I know He is, I know that He can overcome anything for Christians, but dont know when He does, if that makes sense. Daily? All the time?

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:32

ferrar There can be inertia for the spiritual to manifest into the physical, but I believe it does.

On accepting Christ I believe you are spiritually whole, Faith builds as you find out more about who you are in Christ, evil can be overcome.

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:34

I would say daily and all the time, yes. As your Faith grows I think you get better at knowing timings, working out when to act on Faith.

capsium · 18/03/2014 18:37

However Evil is n the world too. We just do not have to be trodden down by it. Once someone is determined through their Faith the momentum can be incredible.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 18:42

Why does god allow so much suffering? Children for want of food or cheap medications are dying because of dirty drinking water, or lose limbs from stepping on a land mines.
If that is part of god's parlour game he seems a pretty nasty bloke to me.

Capsium I don't need god to be "spiritually whole"- are you saying we are incomplete without god?

ferrar · 18/03/2014 18:57

Personally am not interested in covering stuff that has been discussed on a lot of threads on this board previously.

However Evil is n the world too. We just do not have to be trodden down by it. Once someone is determined through their Faith the momentum can be incredible.

Agreed. Agree also that we can sabotage our own lives by sin. Agree that God for instance looks after christians in say big earth events. There is or are verses in the bible that say that.

Dont know what I believe and what is the truth as in daily low level living. Where is God and where is the D in that.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 19:03

So god looks after christians- why not muslims, or jews or athiests?

Why do people need to even believe in god to be accepted into heaven. If he was all compassionate he would save everyone- not just christians.

I find it quite shocking that you think only christians are "looked after" by god- do other faiths not count?

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:06

ferrar just look for Him. See what you can see. It's a very interesting and enriching way to live.

atthe I believe God works through people. I put the suffering down to Satan. I would feel incomplete without God, He is in me.

ferrar · 18/03/2014 19:06

He looks after Jews. I cant speak for other religions. I dont know enough about them. But I do know that God's salvation is open to all.

[but not going to get drawn and diverted into things that have already been discussed ad infinitum on here - and which you must have read 100s of times on here before! Smile

headinhands · 18/03/2014 19:10

Capsium does god have free will? Can god decide to be wild and horrible? If not why on earth would he ever give mere humans the responsibility and ability to rape and murder, an ability not even he has Confused or maybe he does have the potential to be horrible? Then why worship him because he isn't perfect is he?

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 19:10

No I haven't read them 100s times before. Is this a closed thread only for certain people?

I am giving my opinion, that's all. The idea of god is meaningless to me and no more real than marshmallow men living in my garden shed.

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:11

atthe if you take God as being synonymous with good, God is present in all that is good, as is Christ. Believing on Christ is knowing it.

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:12

^that covers headinhands question too.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 19:14

A belief in christ is just that though- a belief, it's not a fact.

So god is simply the manifestation of good- no external or intrinsic power? What about the creation, the ressurection, the bible?

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:16

Physical manifestation of the spiritual is power. Belief concerns what is spiritual.

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:17

God is spirit. You can see Him in His manifestation.

atthestrokeoftwelve · 18/03/2014 19:18

We will have to disagree with that I'm afraid, I see no manifestation of god.

capsium · 18/03/2014 19:19

atthestroke correct me if I am wring but you spoke of your own spirituality on another thread. How does this manifest?
