Welcome to our new prayer thread for 2014. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what’s going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Badvoc and her family, as they grieve for her dad; prayers too for her aunt who is seriously ill; and prayers for a good recovery from her gallstones operation;

... BananasForTed, praying for her mental health and for her difficult work situation, and also praying that she was able to go back to her church and that she found support there;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, and for both her DC to receive the support that they need at school;

... BlessedAssurance, when she feels challenged because of her faith at her place of work; also for her pregnancy and for her eye problems;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to find somewhere good to live and a job;

... bountyicecream, thanking God for her renewed happiness after leaving a very difficult and abusive relationship, and praying that she will continue to grow in happiness and strength in the future;

... CharlotteCollinsisinherownplace, giving thanks for her new home and new job;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, thanking God that an MRI has shown her brain to be normal, and for the continued progress of her niece, little Grace, born prematurely;

... DutchOma and Bob, for Bob's health to be as stable as possible and for him to receive good care in the hospice; also praying for him to see some glimpses of light in what is, admittedly, a very difficult situation, so that his outlook may be less 'catastrophic'; and praying for Oma that she may find rest and peace of mind and support at this time;

... Gingercurl, giving thanks for the successful completion of her thesis and praying for her viva to go well; also for Ginger’s MIL who has been diagnosed with cancer;

... HadALittleFaithBaby, for all bugs to leave to Faith household; also for her neighbour who has cancer and for his family;

... JugglingFromHereToThere, for a job which interests and fulfils her;

... Kaykat, giving thanks that she is now settled and happy in her new home with her DS, and praying for her DS to cope well with his new situation and not allow his dad to influence him in a negative way; also praying that she will find a welcoming church community in her new place;

... MadHairDay, thanking God for a Christmas spent at home with her family, and praying for continued health in 2014; praying too for health and love and friendship for MHD’s DD;

... NeverKnowinglyUnderstood, for her relationship with her DS and for support for them to understand his anger and frustration and find ways to avoid it if possible;

... niminypiminy, for happiness in her new home;

... octopusinastringbag, thinking of her as she feels drawn to explore faith in more depth;

... PandaG, for her mum's health;

... PositiveAttitude and her family; in particular, at this time, for DD3, praying for a happy end to her pregnancy with no complications; also praying for PA's parents’ health, for her DD1's finances, for her DS's anxiety, and for PA as she awaits the outcome of a job application and misses her DH and DD4;

... revivingshower, praying for her back pain to ease and thanking God for her family who've been supporting her during this tough time;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her DD3 to stay well and to sleep well too, so that Room can get enough rest;

... RunRunRuby, thanking God that she has come to our thread and praying that her faith may be strengthened;

... SESthebrave, for all that she has to juggle in her life, with work and DC;

... SunshinemMum, praying for her and her family as they look for a new spiritual home after leaving their previous church; may they find the place that is right for them, and may it welcome them with open arms;

... thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, for a more peaceful time now to recover from the hecticness that is Christmas, and for her academic work;

... weegiemum, giving thanks for her own better health, but praying for her stepmum and for Kat, who are both seriously unwell and for all in the family affected by their illnesses;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors, and those we haven't seen for a while, including: Bluetinkerbell, cloutiedumpling, EasyCompadre, FairPhyllis, fluffieduckie, FriendOfDorothy, GoodbyeRubyTuesday, harbinger and her family, JakeBullet, jan and her DD, ktef, LollipopViolet, MaryBS, notquiteagrownup, PloddingDaily, Soozi, thehorridestmumintheworld, trish5000, youretoastmildred, and zulubump, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don’t post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God’s love.

May God bless us all in 2014.

Praying through!

Please pray for Faithlet. She's been out of sorts the last few days and keeps spiking temperatures. I'm guessing it's a virus and it did come down earlier with ibuprofen so I've dosed her up for bed.

ZingSweetApple · 20/02/2014 19:14

Alittle

if it gets really high in the night you can give her/him a dose of Nurofen and Paracetamol together.

I also do the "cold shower" trick - it's actually warm to start with, but the running water cools them off much faster than a bath!
I very gradually reduce the temperature over max 5 mins.
it never gets cold more like coolish lukewarm for me and it always works.

hope Faithlet gets better soon. same here really, DS3 & DS5 are second day in now, high fever.
DS3 has sore throat too, off to GP's tomorrow.

DidoTheDodo · 20/02/2014 20:16

Hope all poorly offspring feel better soon.
Prayers and love for all the unborn sproglets too. Grow well, tiny people and feel loved.

Kaykat · 20/02/2014 23:38

Saw some lovely friends and chatting to them really helps.
I need to get divorced and soon. He has prevented it for over a year now with a farce of negotiations which have lead nowhere and threats to me if decide to fight him in court. Fed up now. Need to get free from this cheating abusive man

ZingSweetApple · 21/02/2014 06:21

up with DS3 since 5.15 am - he has a terrible earache.
gave him Calpol, hot water bottle but still writhing with pain

Nurofen next.
poor boy

Dutchoma · 21/02/2014 07:29

Praying for all poorly children but specially for Zing's ds3 and Room's dd3.

Praying for Kay that the divorce will miraculously go smoothly once she stands up to her bullying husband.

I have heard that my friend in South Sudan is safe, still in the bunker and unable to return to Juba where her main work load is, so keep praying for her and that country and give thanks to God for deliverance in trouble.

ALittleFaith · 21/02/2014 08:48

That's good DO, praying she can leave soon.

Faithlet's temp peaked at 38.8 but dropped with ibuprofen. Did have to get up to her at 2am for a bum change (temp then 37.7) and fed her but she seems brighter today.

It's my friend Sarah's Mum's funeral today. Praise God, I was able to swap my shifts so I can go and be there for her but I know it'll be tough for everyone, prayers appreciated.

PositiveAttitude · 21/02/2014 09:31

Morning ladies,

Prayers for all the poorly DCs today.

And for you Faith as you support your friend at the funeral.

MHD prayers that you keep well while DH is away. Thanks to God for your supportive friends.

Continuing prayers for DO, Kaykat, Amber - and Mr Amber Tuo ...... ooohhh and just everyone else on here.

Baby Aston was at home for less than 24 hours when he was rushed back into hospital. He was kept in for a few days and treated for an infection and jaundice, but went home again yesterday. DD3 is coping brilliantly and DGS (first time I have ever typed that!! Grin ) is now feeding well, sleeping well, weeing, pooing and doing everything he should be doing....including being sick on clean clothes within minutes of being changed! DD3 was horrified this morning when he was on his 3rd outfit by 8.30!!

have a good day everyone. Sun is shining, sky is clear.....spring is just around the corner!! Grin

Dutchoma · 21/02/2014 09:33

I hope she has plenty of muslins PA

PositiveAttitude · 21/02/2014 12:27

Oh she does DO she took advise from the pro after having the sickiest DD1 on the planet ......I lived with a muslin over my shoulder for about 7 years!!

.............errrr DD1 was not sick for 7 years......she was followed by DD2, DD3, DS and DD4!

cloutiedumpling · 21/02/2014 14:57

He sounds absolutely gorgeous.

BlessedAssurance · 21/02/2014 16:44

PA i just asked my mum how she managed to be pregnant 8 times, in fact 13 times but had 8 kids and still manage to work in the fields, be a wife, mother and a whole lot of other chores. She laughed and said she was strong. I am at home, have one child who can be in daycare for the most part of the day and i feel exhausted. So i applaud anyone with more than two kids because it is hard work, being pregnant and taking care of them.

Praying for all the sick babies.

kay that sucks. Praying for you that this divorce will be handled soon and that you can be free of this abusive man.

madhairday · 23/02/2014 13:26

Wow Blessed strong lady indeed Shock !!

Couldn't do church again this morning as the infection has not cleared. Worried about the next two weeks....just coping. luckily it's easier when they are older and can do meals, breakfast etc themselves, but it's getting them to clubs etc. I know friends will help out but don't like to ask too much.

dh is safely in DRC and has preached at a cathedral this morning :)

Dutchoma · 23/02/2014 14:23

I find it hard to ask too MHD, but think how hurt you would be if a friend hadn't asked YOU to help when she needed to and you could have helped if only you'd known.

BlessedAssurance · 23/02/2014 18:19

Oma every person should have one like you. Their own oma with so much wisdom. Many times i want say something to a poster but don't know how to put it in an articulate way. Then you come in, post two lines and it so bang on. Thank you.

Madhairday what oma said. Please if you have support do not hesitate to ask. People are willing to step in and sometimes all it takes is you asking. The next two weeks will swiftly pass away and before you know it DH will be back. DRC, a long way from home your DH is but God is with Him, how nice that he was preaching in a cathedral...Get better soon.

I want to thank God for answering my prayer. A mother from my DD's daycare offered to come and take care of DD when we go to the hospital for the birth of DC2. I had not talked about needing someone but out of the blue she just told me that she was offering to do it. She has two kids of her own younger than Dd-almost 4 and i have to say i was touched. I thank God for providing and meeting my need before i had even asked it of Him. God is just fabulousGrin. I have no family here. DH's family lives in another city. MIL lives 10mins drive from us but that's another story. All my friends will be working so if this lovely lady had not offered i would have had to be alone at the hospital while DH was taking care of our DD.

madhairday · 23/02/2014 18:51

How wonderful Blessed :)

ZingSweetMango · 23/02/2014 19:39

That's so lovely BA

when are you due?

I'm trying my best to keep calm. DS2 has tonsillitis yet again (6th time since 8th Nov)
I just don't know what to doSad

Dutchoma · 23/02/2014 19:41

Thank you BlessedAssurance

BlessedAssurance · 23/02/2014 21:24

zing i am due in 4 weeks. In a month i will be a mum of two!!! Wow. That sucks zing. I am afraid when it comes to sickness and diseases i am useless so i hope someone will come along with help. Your poor DC. That is just too much.

I have a prayer request. I applied to a nursing college and am really hoping that my favorite college will give me a place. Fingers crossed. I just hope i will be accepted at all. Very very excited about this chapter of my life..

BlessedAssurance · 23/02/2014 21:25

Thank you ladiesThanks

ZingSweetMango · 23/02/2014 21:44

really hope you'll get in where you want!

I remember when DS2 was a newborn I freaked out and had a tantrum because I couldn't figure out how to put both a toddler and a newborn in a carseat into a shopping trolley!Grin

and look at me now!Wink

I can help you with sickness and stuff just don't ask me about tonsillitis or I will growl

ALittleFaith · 24/02/2014 08:34

BlackeyedSusan · 24/02/2014 10:59

mum is out of the care home. she is disgruntled as I am not available for an appointment she has on dd's birthday which would mean taking dd and ds to the hospital for at least two hours plus travelling on dc's birthday.

ZingSweetMango · 24/02/2014 12:22

just been to GP's DS2 only has a viral throat infection, not tonsillitis this time!
