CaptainDippy · 13/05/2006 08:52

Hello everyone!!

As PandaG mentioned, the thread was getting a tad long, so I thought it was about time to begin another one!!

I'll start with a summary of all prayer requests in April and May (this obviously doesn't mean that any prayer requests before that time are now null and void - but the list would just be waaaay too long - So please do refer to the other threads from time-to-time to catch up on prayer requests before April 2006!!)

Here goes .....

DumbledoresGirl - Finding life tough coping with vomit phobia, especially with DH away a lot - Strength.

NotQuiteSoTiredMum - Relationship with mum (mum drives her loopy re: how to bring up her children etc); all affected by bird flu; relationship with non-Christian DH. Feeling very tired atm!!

Portree - Going through IVF atm

katzg - Has applied for ideal job (closing date 30th May)

Waswondering - Prayers for MNer ruthlouise who recently lost a baby at 18 weeks, she used to have a faith, but doens't anymore.

SaggarMakersBottomKnocker - Friend's DD recently died, prayers for the family as they grieve.

longwaytogo - Feels surrounded by a Black Cloud atm, finding life very hard; prayers for her friends DS who might possibly have anorexia / bulimia.

pudmog - Currently dealing with her past - lots of flashbacks, life very tough. Has been having counselling and had a recent breakthough - Praise the Lord!! Smile

Nanou1 - Having to go back to work f/t as DH cannot get a job at present, would like to be a better friend at keeping in touch; learning to be a Christian family - not many Christian friends around. Possible job just come up!!

Wilbur - Friends just about to emabark on their 4th round of IVF at Lister Hospital

NASWM - Life very Sad atm, feeling very low.

PandaG - Thinking hard about where to go re: going back into teaching etc etc atm. Has just become Chair of the PTA. Feeling a bit low and uncertain.

Twiga - DH has surgical exams throughout May, prayers for friends niece was was born early due to pre-eclampsia - has been moved out of closed incubator - Hurrah! Grandpa (90) has just had stroke - needs to let go and be with his Heavenly Father now.

MaryBS - Non-Christian DH has expressed an interest in going to church - Hurrah!

KateF - Lots of stress atm. Thanks for prayers for Philip Dunne who goes to her church, he is improving - Praise the Lord!! Smile

CaptainDippy - Usual prayers re: getting a p/t job and a home of their own; prayers for DD's who are very chesty and unwell, esp as DD1 had pneumonia this time last year; prayers that she will pass her driving test soon!!

JessicaandRebeccasMummy - I know her DH will find out about is happening to his job (he's had health problems for a while) around now - So let's prayer something amazing happens for that little family.

That seems to be about all!!

Oh thank God, the sun has shone this week and thinsg always seem a bit better when the weathers nice and my boys have been able to play lots in the garden and get nice and tired for bed time to give their poor tired mommny a rest in the evening Smile

TigerT, welcome to MN and so sorry to hear about your little one and also you, I'm sure you've had a real time of it. The worry that comes with being a parent is unbelievable and has made me appreciate my own parents even more!

CaptainDippy, glad to hear that you are feeling better. DS2 still can't quite seem to shake off his clod and we keep passing it around each other, poor chap.

My Nanny has taken a turn for the worse again and I jsu pray that things come to a conclusion soon and she doesn't have to suffer anymore. I did have some good news this week, a good frinds husband had got his first teaching job for September. They have worked really hard so that he could qualify and they have a 2 year old daughter too and now all their hard work has paid off as they will always have their holidays all together Smile lucky things!

Prayers for all, especially your dd TigerT.

CaptainDippy · 02/06/2006 19:40

Hi CD & everyone. Thanks for missing me CD Smile Not been around much on MN, purposefully if I'm honest - needed to find RL for a bit.

My friend isn't doing too well, she's finding the loss of her dd so difficult to cope with.

Thankful for the sunshine Smile

CaptainDippy · 03/06/2006 11:00

Thanks for popping in SMBK!! Smile I like stalking people back on to the Prayer Thread Wink Grin

Hee! Hee!

Praying for your friend, so sorry she is finding the loss so difficult to cope with. Glad she seems to have a good supportive friend in you and your group. Does she have good support from family? So Sad for her. Wish there was more I could do - Would she appreciate a card to know I'm thinking of her and praying for her??

ahhhhhh - can't keep up! so just throwing some generic prayers up now'!

life ok here just waiting to hear if i have been short lisited for dream job!

MaryBS · 03/06/2006 19:37

Quickly popping in after an horrendous halfterm 'holiday' which was spent cleaning the kids up after being sick SEVERAL times, one of them at the beginning of the holiday (we nearly came back there and then!) and one at the end of the holiday, with DH being ill in the middle.

Prayers needed please for DH's father, who collapsed yesterday and is in hospital undergoing heart tests. Last night it wasn't looking too hopeful, but he seems to have rallied today. He had a similar scare a few months ago. If it is the end, I'm glad DH was able to get back from holiday, to go up to see him tonight. Also pray for his mum, who is partially disabled following a stroke plus she has diabetes, she would struggle to cope without him.

MaryBS · 03/06/2006 21:10

Just heard its NOT his heart, might be something to do with his gullet? Unsure as to what though! Hopefully we'll find out more when its NOT the weekend!

Prayers for you lot as well - I see there's been lots going on! :o

CaptainDippy · 03/06/2006 21:25

Hi MaryBS!! Just to let you know your prayer requests are being read!! Smile I'm off to bed, but will be praying for your FIL - Do keep us update. Strength and healing. Sorry you had such a rotten 1/2 term with poorly children too!! Sad [hugs]]

OP posts:
PandaG · 03/06/2006 21:33

Hi all, back from fab holiday, God ws great with weather and friendships - we were with 3 other families, and the children got on really well nearly all of thew time, leaving the adults to relax too.

Welcome TigerT. MaryBS, will pray for your FIL, so sorry to hear your holiday was stressful. Sad

chjlly · 03/06/2006 23:07

Hi,

Could I ask you to pray for my Sister (Catj) and her dd4 when she was just under 2 weeks old a heart condition was detected and has now had 3 ops since she was born in March. She has been through so much in that short time and needs her arteries to grow so that more can be done to help her.

Thanks xx

PandaG · 04/06/2006 19:25

Hi chjlly Smile will certainly pray for your sister and niece. Sorry to hear she has gone through so much already.

CaptainDippy · 04/06/2006 21:14

Hi PandaG - So pleased you had such a lovely time away, good to have you back! Smile

Hello and Welcome chjlly!! Smile Will definitely be praying for your sis and her little DD4, poor little mite - sounds like she has really had a tough old entrance into the world - Praying for strength for your sis and her family and for her wee little heart to get stronger and healthier soon.

All ok in DippyLand - Please pray re: jobs as there's hopefully going to be an admin post coming up at out church soon and I want it so badly!! Also, have begged, bowed and scraped at our local baby shop for a job - and think I might have pulled it off!!!? Things might be happening here!!! .........

chjlly will pray for your niece. My nephew was born with a hole in his heart - it wasn't picked up till the 6 week check (although the 2nd Dr couldn't work out why!). He's fine now we think, the hole is still there, just not bothering him
anymore.

PandaG - good to see you're back! Glad you had a good hol!

CD- good to hear things are moving on the jobs front will pray it all works out for you!

Please pray for me and Reader selection. I've got to do a written piece on the prodigal son - not too worried about that, but I have to prepare a 3-5 minute talk on anything I feel strongly about, whether religious or not, and I keep praying for a suitable topic! Trouble is the non-religious stuff I feel strongly about is often stuff I get steamed up about, and I don't feel comfortable with being a "Mrs Angry"! If anyone has got any ideas as well as prayers I'd be grateful! Do you think it would be right or wrong to do something church-related?

CaptainDippy · 05/06/2006 09:06

Hello!! Will pray about reader selection thing for you MaryBS - Do you feel strongly about anything environmental perhaps - using cloth nappies or Fairtrade stuff?? How about being a bit different and telling them about your fave sports team or something?? Alternatively, how about talking about how strongly you feel about your precious family?? These things are all valid and important, me thinks!! Smile

I'm doing a "trial run" in my friend's shop tomorrow afternoon and some hours on Wed and Thurs too while her partner is on hols. Then hopefully I should get a regularly slot starting very soon. Haven't heard very much on the church admin job, just just pray they advertise soon before I get my hopes up too high!! Thank you!! Smile

Any updates??

Xavielli · 05/06/2006 09:11

My MIL (Pastors wife) had a really good long chat with my Mum and Dad and I think they might be coming to church!!! YAY!

Please could you join me in praying that they do?

CaptainDippy · 05/06/2006 09:12

Definitely!! YEY!! Grin xx

mosschops30 · 05/06/2006 12:14

just wanted to say thank you to those who said a prayer for me on my flight. We arrived home safely, and I did a whole lot of praying on that plane believe me.

Thanks again
x

PandaG · 05/06/2006 14:00

Mosschops - glad to hear you are back safely Smile

Xavelli - great news, will pray Grin

Mary - I would do something about Fair trade or the environment if it were me - both things I am fairly passionate about, but I think the reason for my passion is linked up with my faith - breaking the chains of injustice and taking care of what God has made. Let us know what you are thinking!

CD hope that the trial in the shop goes well! Smile

kate100 · 05/06/2006 19:35

There has been a lot of sadness on this thread recently, I thought this might raise our spirits, of special interest to MaryBS \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2418&threadid=179954\happy news}

SaintGeorge · 05/06/2006 19:54

Quick update on DS's sponsor after his big op - he came out of hospital yesterday. Has to return tomorrow to have big clips taken out and a few stitches put in place of them, but otherwise doing great. Smile

Twiga · 05/06/2006 20:05

Hi all, am praying this end!

Thanks for the link to Cadmum's thread kate100 - am very dense have just realised your the same kate that's on my post natal thread - special hello to you, really should post more regularly over there but keep falling behind and takes ages to catch up with where everyone's at.

Please can you pray for me and dd as still have rotten colds - dd is very snotty and hates having her nose wiped so is quite grumpy with me at the mo. Finding it hard to sleep well at night as I'm so bunged up. On a positive note the weather here is glorious and dd had her first shot in the paddling pool today which went down a storm!

CaptainDippy · 05/06/2006 20:55

Well Done MossChops!! You made it Smile - hope you had a lovely time away too!! Smile

Thank you for the link to the thread about Cadmum's friends and their adoption Kate100 - What Smile news!! Praise the Lord for those lovely people giving that wee little baby a home - I pray they will settle down as a family really quickly and have a wonderful time together!! Smile

So pleased that your DS' sponsor is coming home SaintGeorge - that's fab news!! Smile Praying it is not too awful having the clips taken out tomorrow - ouch! Praying he would recover quickly and feel comfortable, thank you for keeping us up-to-date!! Smile

Hello Twiga!! Poor you with you nasty lingering colds Sad Yey for your glorious weather though!! Smile Praying you and your DD will feel heaps better soon and keep enjoying that sun and that paddling pool - Lots of fun!! Smile

I have the trial in the shop tomorrow afternoon and the admin job at church has just been advertised. I have filled in most of the application form, just a few of the more "wordy" bits to do and then I can hand it in. Please pray that I will get it if it's the right job for me - I am doubting my ability and stuff, it isn't easy!!

Anyway, lots to do before bed!!

Prayers and Love to all. [hugs] xxxx

Kate, thanks for posting that adoption thread, I hope and pray my brother and SIL hear something soon!

Good luck CD for today!

Twiga, praying for your family and their colds! Hope you all get better quick!

SG - good to hear its going well with your DS's sponsor. Will pray that it continues that way!

Thanks everyone for your ideas on what I should talk about. Fair Trade is a good idea - my only concern is that I don't know enough about it, so if there is likely to be a Q&A afterwards, I might struggle. I HAVE picked my subject though.... Obstetric Cholestasis. I had it with both my two and did a lot of research at the time, and I'm passionate about helping/warning other mums....
