As the other thread is nearing its limit, hopefully this is the thread with lots of positive news.

Weegiemum - that verse makes me cry and yes absolutely applicable to this situation and to all the challenges we face in life.

Will carry on praying. Our prayers are heard and answered.

Northernlurker · 29/06/2012 19:27

Expat has posted on a thread in chat. As you would expect she's struggling and ICU is a tough place to be with one doctor in particular who seems to have tried to discourage them from sitting with A.

She asks us to pray for a miracle.

Well that's fine because we believe in miracles Smile Lets keep going.

weegiemum · 29/06/2012 19:46

I'm off on holiday tomorrow so won't be local for expat. But we've given them our house while they're away so hopefully that will be a blessing to them.

My dd2 is the same age as aillidh. I can't help but see hervin that bed. Dear Lord, deliver them from this suffering!

Mouseface · 29/06/2012 19:53

Northern - I have spent days in PIUC...... it's a tough place to be and yes, we too had a doc 'suggesting' that maybe we needed a break.......

Sending love and prayers to them all xxx

madhairday · 29/06/2012 20:40

weegie, that's lovely and I'm sure will be such a help to them to stay at yours.

Keep praying, keep believing.

UPdate on the facebook page:

We now have a name for her nemesis! It is the human metapneumo virus she has had for a while that is the most likely source of her continued respiratory problems.

The graft is trying desperately to work, although chimera of bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy will tell us more, let us hope and pray that it is 100% donor. Her consultant believes the virus might be prohibiting healthy engraftment. She is being given a new anti-viral to hopefully help her, and with everyone's prayers and thoughts, this will help, too. She is peaceful and comfortable at present and sleeping, which will help her, too. A's consultant has far from given up hope and nor have we.

Thank you all so much.

To those of our friends who have experienced the loss of their children, I pray to them, too, to help Aillidh in her time of need with the immeasurable love and boundless strength that is the domain of the young, and know that they are at her side in spirit, never far from our thoughts.

'When the hurly burly's done,
When the battle's lost and won

Great to have a diagnosis and praying for improvement.

giraffesCantFitInThePalace · 30/06/2012 10:36

News from hospital - I went in and held her hand and was chatting to her, I moved her hand a bit to take it out from sheet so could hold it and she must have thought I was letting go so she squeezed my hand and pulled it back. Nurse said she had been waking up a bit during the night. I was chatting to her and she always moans at me for taking crazy photos when I am out with my friends, she says take nice photos and don't be silly...so I mentioned I was meant to be going out tonight and should I only take sensible photos and she squeezed my hand.

Then after a bit she opened her eyes and was wriggling about, heart rate dropped when spoke calmly too her. She likes to know someone with her. Then expat came back and we held her hand/stroked head as her bed covers changed - she was shaking her head she didnt want them changed and when we asked her to let us roll her over she shook her head no. I asked her if she wanted doggy (fave cuddly toy) and she nodded. The nurse asked if she was in any pain and she shook her head.

She was sleeping again when I left. So it is reassuring to know she is not in pain and that she is aware and comforted by people she knows being there.

Medical stuff - she had xray this morning. Her consultant dropped by from oncology, PICU drs ward round soon then they will confer, was with her when she had her physio and she was doing some good coughs after. Her oxygen had been at 70 but is now up at 80.

DutchOma · 30/06/2012 10:52

Thank you very much for the update. Continuing with thanksgiving and prayers.
