Christian MN Prayer Request Thread!!

CaptainDippy · 23/01/2006 09:04

Hello - Due to popular demand, I have set up this thread so that MNers can post their prayer requests!! You do not have to be a Christian to post a prayer request, but we Christians believe that prayer really works, so let us pray through a situation for you!! - Let's support and encourage one another through this facility - Here's to many MN prayers being answered!!

Hi alliep30 - Thank you for your apology - It means a lot and I totally understand your doubts - It is hard to understand why there is so much suffering in the world when Christians profess to have an all-loving and all-powerful God. I find it hard to understand myself sometimes; but all I know is that God can work miracles and that He does love us. The hurt and the pain and the suffering in the world is not caused by Him, but by ourselves and by our sin (the stuff that we do wrong) - Love would not be love if we were forced to love - So God allows us to choose to love Him - I have no idea if that makes any sense - All I am trying to say is tht the stuff that goes wrong in the world is not caused by God. I don't understand why massive world disaters happen any more than the next person or why some people live and some people die - All I know is that I am safe in God's hands and that He loves me - and because I am safe in this knowledge then I am not afraid to die because I know that am going to be wih Him. Forever. I will pray for you and for your doubts - I will pray that God would help you in your understanding of Him.

wish i had your faith, but i\m afraid i haven't. Often have this discussion with my friend who is a witness... i believe there is something, just not sure what..

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2006 16:56

Well it's a start - "Even if you have faith as small as a mustard seed...."

Just try praying - even if you are not sure what to!!

I am glad that you do think that there is "something" there - I think it would be really hard to belive that there was nothing there at all - Sort of bit pointless and hopeless - and perhaps a tiny bit selfish - to think that the wonderful and amazing creation that is man (or woman!) was not created by something - Look at a newborn baby and see God's love for us!!

thanks cd... pray away!!!!

Aloha · 05/02/2006 17:35

Don't see the Christians keeping off atheist threads! I cannot see any other way for prayer to 'work'. For it to work, God must favour prayed-for people, which seems really, well, unkind to me. But hey ho. Obviously I wish everyone well.

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 17:40

where's the athiest thread aloha

Aloha · 05/02/2006 17:43

Loads of them, including plenty by people opposed to their children being forced to take part in Christian worship in state schools - invariable used by Christians to say why it is a good thing/why nobody should be wound up by it etc.
Which is fine, I suppose, the internet is a very public place.

Aloha · 05/02/2006 17:46

But hey, if it helps you and you enjoy it, I'll leave you to it.

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2006 22:08

Thank you.

Could you pray for us as a family (me, dh and dd who's nearly 5 months old) as we move to Dumfries on Thurs morning for 6 months with dh's job (Dr doing surgical training)? Having a hard time getting round to packing and preparing - still avoiding the thought of going and it's difficult with a wee one. 6 months such a short time, need to settle in and find a church, mum & tots group etc asap. Feeling a bit nervous and sad but also excited too.

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2006 23:10

Welcome Twiga - Will pray for you - What an upheaval!! I am sure that it will be worth it though!! At least MumsNet doesn't change, eh!!? Let us know how it goes and will pray for you - no worries!!

It's not too bad, we're being put up in Docs accom and are leaving our house as is - it's just figuring out what we will actually need to take - house we're going to is meant to be fully furnished/equiped but could mean anything - all a bit of an adventure really . Only thing I'm certain of is that my Tesco shop should be delivered to my new address somewhere between 6-8pm !

Twiga · 05/02/2006 23:15

On a mn front - have laptop will travel! Thank goodness! Better go get some sleep tomorrow is gonna be a long one, goodnight.........

PandaG · 05/02/2006 23:33

Glad to find this thread, only joined mums today and want to pray for people. Will keep checking and praying, but need to go to bed now!

poppiesinaline · 06/02/2006 11:41

Hello, Wow, what a busy thread!!!

I would really appreciate some prayer for DH who is looking for new job. He really needs to get out of where he is, doing him and us no good at all. He has been looking for a new job for about 6 months now but nothing seems to ever materialise.

Please pray that God sends him a job closer to home and to a company in which family life is important and employees are more important than making money. And send it SOON!!!

longwaytogo · 06/02/2006 15:05

How comew threads like this never make it to the home page. My darling little nephew who's only church background is occassionally getting him to sunday school and holiday club once a year came home last week and said to his poorly mummy 'Are you feeling better?' she said no, he said 'not even a little bit?' she said maybe a little bit, he said good because i've been praying for you and for nanny's bad leg.

Out of the mouths of babes. If only we could all have that child like faith then how much better we would all be.

Just thought i'd share that with you. May encourage someone, it did me.

CaptainDippy · 06/02/2006 19:52

That's soooo fabby longwaytogo - Children are SUCH an inspiration!! Thank you for sharing!! I know why these pages never get to the home page - because we're all a big bunch of narrow-minded bigots. Obviously.
