Well here you are then Smile I don't post often, but just to save Nickel a job...

Sorry to hear that Mary. Hope you feel better soon.

Our church leader explained the whole generic son term a couple of weeks ago. Wish I could remember it clearly to post.

nickelDorritt · 18/02/2012 11:18

Mary.
:)

madhairday · 18/02/2012 11:30

hope you are OK.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 18/02/2012 13:07

Feeling better than I did, thanks. Good job because I've got a busy day tomorrow!

nickelDorritt · 18/02/2012 14:26

I know that feeling - you feel poorly on Saturday and you panic because you've got to get through Sunday first!

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 20/02/2012 09:13

Well I got through Sunday... now just have to get through Monday. I'm writing a newsletter article this morning (deadline is 12 noon) and this afternoon I'm leading a bible study, and at some time inbetween, I've got to tidy up! Blush

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 10:29

you're giving up sarcasm for lent, eh?
we'll have to watch your posts till then! Wink

hope you get it all done. :)

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 20/02/2012 10:40

Lent hasn't started yet, I've still got time! :o

Bluetinkerbell · 20/02/2012 13:29

I might give up MN for Lent...

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 13:48

ooh i don't think i could do that! Shock

i neeed it to keep me sane.
i suppose i could read a book...

Bluetinkerbell · 20/02/2012 13:56

Well nickel nor can I... but maybe it will give me more time for the things I would like to do and haven't managed so far... like playing guitar and reading books...

madhairday · 20/02/2012 15:06

I did give up MN one year for lent. Found it strangely liberating actually, but don't feel called to do it this year, think I need to be here and need support etc, it helped me look at priorities and things.

I ought to give up FB really but just couldn't Grin

Looking forward to some sarcasm in next couple of days Mary Grin Then we will bully you if we see any Grin

Not sure if I will give up anything. dh will be in Sudan half of Lent so got a feeling will need wine and chocolate during that time. I could be holy I suppose and give them up....hmmm....

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 20/02/2012 15:42

I think you lot should give up bullying :D :D :D

I was really sarcastic during bible study today, just couldn't help myself Blush.

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 16:11

the one thing I want to do but can't during the day is sewing. I can't have the machine on the shop floor (although, having said that, I have so few customers, I wouldn't be annoying anyone....)

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 16:13

anyway, I though it was considered more christian these days to take up something for lent?

is everyone getting the Love Life Live Lent booklets again?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 20/02/2012 16:14

Are they doing them this year? We were talking about them the other day

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 16:17

dunno but there's a website

PandaG · 20/02/2012 18:14

I gave up MN and FB last year...not sure what I am giving up this year. I am thinking about giving up losing my temper at the children. Do you think that is possible?

Bluetinkerbell · 20/02/2012 20:23

Panda wish I could give up losing my temper!
Think I've decided, I will give up MN and FB this Lent and spend more time reading, practising guitar, spending time with DH...
maybe even write some letters again! :)

DutchOma · 20/02/2012 20:44

Not MN as well? How will we recognise you when you come back at Easter?

OP posts:
niminypiminy · 20/02/2012 20:51

Is anybody else doing Christian Aid's Count Your Blessings this Lent?

They have leaflets and I think there is an app too (though my phone is so too primitive for it, so have to do mine on paper).

thanksamillion · 20/02/2012 20:51

Hello all
I'm back in Moldova, not been around much as since I've been back (Thursday) have already had a visitor for a couple of nights Hmm. Also it's freezing (-10 tonight) and we have about 50cm of snow. And no water.

Did I mention that we have no water? It's slightly driving me crazy but DH and DD1 have already managed for a week and a half while I was back in the UK (having baths). Sadly no prospect of it coming back for a while as everything is frozen solid. I will therefore be giving up water for lent . I know that's not quite in the spirit of things but...

Bluetinkerbell · 20/02/2012 20:53

DO you mean how will I find you lot at Easter? You better leave some nice clues on the board Wink
It's true I do spend an awful lot of time on here and on FB and I know I can do without for a week, as that's what I've done going to Taizé, but will try for longer now!
Think DH will be pleased! :)

Please do email me prayer request if you like, as I would like to spend more time praying too!

PandaG · 21/02/2012 09:02

well I'm glad Lent starts tomorrow, as I totally blew my stack with DD this morning. She was being a complete pain in the rear and pressed all my buttons, but even so. Aaaaaarrrggghhhhh!

newlark · 21/02/2012 10:36

Am undecided whether to give something up for lent or just try to do something positive - I have 3 lent books to read - a daily one that I mentioned further up the thread (Tom Wrights "lent for everyone" which has a linked website Big Read 2012 , the archbishop of canterbury's recommended one and a book on the Lords Prayer which we are doing at church.
