Thanks DO just what I needed to hear! :)

madhairday · 05/07/2012 18:07

You'll be great Blue.

Have you had a chance to talk to the DDO? I would have thought it may be an idea to seek some legal advice on this one...the diocese prob just haven't had a precedent to sort themselves out to be more fair.

Bluetinkerbell · 05/07/2012 18:25

I hope so :)

Haven't talked to the DDO no, still waiting for a phone call from rural dean.

Yesterday I gave a letter to PCC to explain what I'm entitled to and what the diocese have said about if I would want more than what's in my contract church should support that.
It's all slightly complicated, with being employed by church but being on Diocesan payroll...
See I'm not sure whether it is a battle I would like to fight with the Diocese as I don't want to put my vocation in danger... and I'm quite sure I will not make any difference with regards to my situation atm, so would I be willing to risk things for future pregnant youth workers?

PCC has decided to defer a decision about my maternity pay until September so they have the chance to find out from the diocese what they should pay me.
Depending on what they decide I will take either 8 weeks (that is if I get 90% for 6 weeks and SMP after that) or 13 weeks (depending on whether they will pay me a bit more and we can financially manage) or 39 weeks Wink (if they pay me full time, but that will be highly unlikely)

Bluetinkerbell · 06/07/2012 11:43

What do you think of my Sea Sunday Sermon Song Wink

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the lake,
Don't stand up and rock the boat
That's a big mistake!

Row, row, row your boat
Watch the water flow,
Rowing's fun but rowing's hard
That is what I know

Rock, rock, rock your boat
Watch out for the storm
He's asleep what do we do
He needs to be informed

Row, row, row your boat
up and down the waves
Don't be scared, Jesus is here
He's the one who saves

DutchOma · 06/07/2012 15:22

That's a lovely song, apart from the fact that Jesus was a massive 'boat rocker'

madhairday · 06/07/2012 15:47

Fabulous!

Bluetinkerbell · 08/07/2012 13:32

Grin sermon went well, think I've impressed the DDO :) he said the service was really lovely and I did very well and we had a lovely singing group!
He also asked how I was as he'd been talking with my vocations adviser last week and she'd told him I was on sick leave.
He's a very nice man, so looking forward to meeting with him once I'm ready to be passed on to him to discuss my vocation further. It'll be a while still but that's ok :)

DutchOma · 08/07/2012 16:49

Well done Blue Am totally in awe of what you achieve, given the circumstances.

nickelbarapasaurus · 09/07/2012 11:39

I'm glad it went well :)

Our PCC meeting has been cancelled on the 18th July, because we're having another buffet for the prospectives on the 19th July - I moaned it was a Thursday again, but it is after Dance term finishes, so it's okay.

I don't understand why we still can't have our PCC - it's not like all our normal business stops just because we've got a few interviewees coming to visit, is it?

I really wish they'd re-think the way they interview the candidates - I wish they'd make it more parish-based - have them meet all of the congregation, have them come to all of the services and events, meet prayer groups etc.
I know it takes a lot of time, and they must all have lives of their own, but how can they decide on a vocation without seeing everything that goes on?
it's not like a normal job, it's soooo much more complicated than that!

well see what happens....

nickelbarapasaurus · 21/07/2012 16:47

bit quiet, isn't it?
Shock

we had a pcc buffet with the new prospectives on thursday.
well, one prospective and his wife Grin

he was really nice - methodist Shock in origin, but seems to have been everywhere.
he used to be in computers- worked for ibm (iirc) in the US and the microsoft (forgive me if i've got the companies wrong...)
he seemed a little quiet, so don't know if i'd get on with him IRL, but nice.
he didn't seem too bothered with my random rants, so hopefully, he'll think i'm the worst the parish has to offer and anything else is a bonus Grin

CW wouldn't tell me if they'd offered him the job (chorister), because darn it, she's good at keeping secrets! so i'll find out when everyone else does.

i'm praying that 1) he's the right man for the job from our pov, and 2) if1) is true, that he doesn't do that "god's not calling me to your shithole thanks" Wink

madhairday · 22/07/2012 14:42

Oh nickel....hope it works out and that if he's the right one it will all get sorted soon! :)

Yes tis quiet here.

Everyone's enjoying the sunshine :) Probably will be the only day of it...

thanksamillion · 23/07/2012 21:00

i'm here! But only briefly as we're a day into returning back to the UK for 3 months. We're driving so won't be back until a week today!

Any news nickel?

Bluetinkerbell · 23/07/2012 21:07

I hope it is the right person nickel we will only be able to start advertising end of October/November!

nickelbarapasaurus · 24/07/2012 11:11

nah, he was offered it, but turned it down.

i think they're too picky.

not fussed, though: although it means we're still in limbo, most of us are quite happy the way things are!

madhairday · 24/07/2012 19:10

Ah nickel :( He obviously wasn't the right person...doesn't stop it being frustrating. Sounds like you're getting on fine in any case!!

madhairday · 07/08/2012 19:35
