Grin

I know I would appreciate prayers as I face the prospect that the Littlest Dippy starts school in a few short weeks (w/c 12th Sept to be precise). Feeling a little wobbly to say the least ......

good news that she is out. ermm ... Confused too. is your brother back?

h has got a job offer. pray the reference checks are ok and he gets to sign the contract. not relaxing til the contract is signed.

Teaandcakeplease · 02/09/2011 19:18

Yes my brother is now back too Smile She says it was probably another ovarian cyst that burst. There was fluid in her tummy and the pain was very bad. She's still very sore and on a go slow doped up to high heaven. Luckily her church rallied round to care for the children whilst she was in hospital. God is good.

madhairday · 02/09/2011 19:41

Just flying by and remembering you all in prayers - incredibly busy week with niece staying so three hyper children. Has been fun, will be sort of sad when school starts next week.

ZipadiSoozi · 02/09/2011 20:08

Don't know if its a God-incidence, but since the 'meet up' I have been considerably calm, level headed and peaceful. I can't ever remember feeling like this, totally out of character for me, but excellent, I like it.

Thank you God (and mumsnet) may it continue into next week, STOP there Sooz, positive thoughts, everything will carry on in a peaceful way!

xxxxx

ZipadiSoozi · 02/09/2011 20:10

oops my TACP message got deleted Confused

Thank goodness your sil is now on the mend, quite an ordeal, hope the dc are coping ok, my continued prayers for you all. xx

DutchOma · 02/09/2011 20:41

Well, of course Soozi. You met with such, calm. level-headed people, we were not in any way nuts, let alone completely mad Hmm
God is indeed good

Teaandcakeplease · 02/09/2011 20:43

Mmmm I don't know about me Wink Wouldn't say I'm terribly calm and level headed with 2 young children Grin

Loving how good you're feeling though Sooz Smile

DutchOma · 02/09/2011 20:45

Don't do yourself down TACP. You cope remarkably well, given the circumstances.

blackeyedsusan · 02/09/2011 22:09

rolls on floor laughing that anyone could think I was remotely calm.....

was going to come on and scream, but have calmed down now. can't get h to shift and go home quickly once tea is over so can get the children to bed. I know I need to get tea sooner, but today was a major trip to the supermarket, with added hassles of trrying to wash childern and not let them tramp through the wet/not using the bath in case the plumber turns up..grr

DutchOma · 03/09/2011 09:51

That's just it, BES, amid the mayhem, we had a core of calm that Soozi obviously took away with her.
Hope your plumber turns up today.

blackeyedsusan · 03/09/2011 13:52

the plumber is on his way..

blackeyedsusan · 03/09/2011 16:42
Confused
Bluetinkerbell · 03/09/2011 16:42

oh dear? BES how is it going with the plumber?

blackeyedsusan · 03/09/2011 17:27

well, we know no more than before, other than there is water on the floor. I haev been advised to wrap the loo in tissue to see if we can work out where the leak is coming from. we had another plumbing leak, which turned out to be a dodgy job on the roof, which leaked down the soil pipe and dripped off the bottom onto the kitchen ceiling... not the plumbing at all. it is a mystery.

DutchOma · 03/09/2011 17:50

Oh BES how annoying. Is it an old house you live in?

blackeyedsusan · 03/09/2011 22:31

it is a flat, a problematic flat that adheres to sod's law, if it can go wrong it will go wrong. there have been leaky sink, into kitchen, leaky washing machine conection, leaky rroof, leaky gutters leading to a damp patch on the plaster, leaky roof/soil pipe joint and leaky toilet. therer has been blocked kitchen pipe and blocked bathroom pipe that required rerouting by the plumber. we had a crack that required a surveyor and a structural engineer, followed by having plaster removed in the bathroom, and both bedrooms, the same weekend as the tiler came to work on the kitchen and bathoom using the landing to cut tiles all whilst 81/2 months pregnant. we have managed without a kitchen sink for 3 weeks and the kitchen took a year to do, because every surface needed major repairs. (ceiling/floor and all walls and windows/windowsil)

we had it rewired, (black dust everywhere) then the connection in the shared area came loose and overheated, melting and inch of cable and cutting off our electicity supply. we had previously been turning off the lights whilst heating food in the microwave, squatting on the living room floor. we had the fridge in the living room for ages as it leaked rust water and it was not going to go on the new floor. (and just as well because in it's new position, it would have leaked into the flat downstairs. )

the plumber came to fix the leak/replace bathroom whilst I was 7-9 and abit months pregnant. (good job dd was late) everything he removed had problems (the bath was propped up on plaster board, there was an enormous quantity of black mold on a temporay stud wall someone had built and attached the shower to, the hot water systems stop tap broke off in his hand he took the floor boards up to find that they were not supported at one end. we have mystery pipes rrunning through the floor, partially exposed. there was a wire running diagonally and round a corner from a live socket that i discovered when removing tiles in the kitchen.

so now I am sort of running out of patience, but do have a good knowledge of the best, plumbers, electricians, drain unblockers, and heating engineers around here.

the plumbing has been wrapped around with loo paper to see if it will give us a clue to its leaking point. please pray that i can find out as dd goes back to school and I really need to get the bathroom sorted to use the bath without treading in "leakage" of unknown origin. everytime i go to the loo, the bottom of my flipflops have to be sprayed otherwise goodness knows what I am taking around the house.

Teaandcakeplease · 03/09/2011 23:00

Well BES it is clear God has kept you safe in that place Wink

I live in a 2 bed flat built in the 1940's. Thankfully it doesn't appear to have had half the problems BES's has had

blackeyedsusan · 04/09/2011 00:04

it is a bit there but for the grace of god go i. he hes definately kept me alive despite there being at least 2 potential diy deaths (live wires/unknown pipe underr the wall i was demolishing) one electrical fault that could have set fire to the communal drying room and a few h related injuies, one of which could have been so easily fatal if not for periferal vision and quick reflexes. (turned head and ducked, if not turned head would be blind in one eye, if not ducked it would have hit my neck and arteries rather than slicing through my ear and being stopped by a thick skull. it is only after I have left that the full reality of what might have been has dawned on me and I am grateful to god for keeping me alive. )

the previous owner's relis were very bad at diy/paid dodgy tradesmen to bodge it and scarper. the builders were phenonomly bad too. gas pipes run diagonally up hall walls, as someone found out when they drilled through one and had to evacuate the block... (not me) and before my time. we seem to have a course of bricks that was laid on a friday afternoon after a visit to the pub. it is the reason for the structural engineer's visit. the only truly amazing craftmanship was by the joiners who made some fabulous built in cupboads in the kitchen that were still working well 45 years on.

DutchOma · 04/09/2011 08:46

After giving thanks for your preservation and the help you are receiving from various tradesmen around you I have a question:-

What percentage do you estimate does your church know about your difficulties? All your difficulties?

blackeyedsusan · 04/09/2011 09:45

2%

blackeyedsusan · 04/09/2011 10:07

that has been over the 7 years we have had the flat, but still with regular occurances. we have told them a few things. they know nothing of the trouble with h

ZipadiSoozi · 04/09/2011 12:25

BES I am so sorry to hear of your calamities, I would definitely not be calm in your situation - my prayers for quite solutions!!!!

blackeyedsusan · 04/09/2011 14:04

to be honest, it would be easier if I had less stuff and a major tidy. Blush I did have a good tidy in the bathroom to move the mountain of stuff in there, packed a lot of the childrens new clothes bought in sales into vaccum pack bags and put them in the cupboard. some stuff got chucked into my room and will need cleaning/putting away. found a bag for the charity shop and have discovered the radiator, which means we will be able to put the heating on when we need it in another month, so that is a bonus. and I will be able to start diying in there now. got to get the heating engineer in too as I have a seeping radiator.

dad has been today and we have taken the broken glass door off the kitchen and got rid of the glass. it is safe now, though I have got to have more of a tidy as it is not hidden behind the door any more. I have a couple of bags to take to the charity shop, but it is getting round to getting them down the stairs and into the car to take. it all seems such an effort.

amberlight · 04/09/2011 18:59
