I know we've not officially finished the last one, but I wanted to get the link in before we ran out of room!

Everyone welcome - the aim of this thread is to generally chat about church life, or just gossip in general!
You don't have to be a regular church-goer, nor do you have to know what we're going on about!
It's not about debate, it's just about chatting
:)

Nickel - just had a look at your photos of Eleanor :) As I've commented on FB, she looks so wonderfully alert! Obviously a sign of how happy she is :)

MHD - that's very true about none of the holy/herooic Biblical characters being articulate. God provides when we need!
Good luck with your book, sounds a fantastic idea.

Hello to everyone else and also if anyone else wants to be my friend on FB (how pathetic does that sound?!) PM me or you may be able to gather from what I've said to Nickel above and her FB who I am!

nickelhadababyYesLord · 06/01/2012 11:56

AttillaTheMum · 07/01/2012 17:14

can i join?

DutchOma · 07/01/2012 19:25

Of course. Are you same at Attilla the Meerkat?
This thread is going slow-typing. Someone set up a new one?

thanksamillion · 07/01/2012 20:13

Hello everyone and welcome Attilla Grin

It's Christmas here today which is a little odd! Most people follow the Orthodox calender so it's the big day. We've had about 15 carol singers round (kids who expect you to give them some money and/or sweets). It's pouring with rain so they must expect to make some good money to make it worth it!

I'm getting excited because I'm coming back to the UK for a visit in a couple of weeks time. It'll be the first time in 2 years Shock. I'm soooo looking forward to being able to do everything in English!

Hope you're all ok and have good services at church tomorrow (if you're going).

nickelhasababy · 07/01/2012 21:33

I think it's a MN thing, Oma , it's happened to you before. Confused
it's very odd.
We could start a new one, but we'd have to get MN to close this one to new messages when we've put the new linkie on here.

Welcome Attilla :)

that's lovely, mhd being able to celebrate christmas when everyoen here has done it all and put it all away! Grin

nickelhasababy · 07/01/2012 21:34

I've done it again!!!
Blush
I meant milly obviously!

AttillaTheMum · 07/01/2012 21:48

I am not a meercat, just 'the mum' :)

DutchOma · 08/01/2012 10:47

I think it is a MN thing that happens after about 800 messages. We have asked and asked, Amber has been on that thread as well, but no one else has, that's probably why they find it easy to ignore.

nickelhasababy · 08/01/2012 12:25

good to know Attilla :)

oh dear :(
I know they've made comments about long threads making it hard to view "on some browsers".
It would make more sense to have 800 as the limit, wouldn't it!

DutchOma · 08/01/2012 12:52

Maybe if a few more people posted in site stuff.....?

madhairday · 08/01/2012 16:33

Welcome Attilla, tell us more about yourself

nickelhasababy · 08/01/2012 16:40

Oma - have you got a link to the thread you started?

DutchOma · 08/01/2012 17:36

here

It is in site stuff under slow typing.

DutchOma · 08/01/2012 17:58

Apparently it is Internet Explorer 8 that's doing it.

AttillaTheMum · 08/01/2012 20:40

Well, I am attila Wink
I attend a nondenominational church in Essex. If pushed I would say it is Evan/ Pentecostal. I have 2 dd's and one DH Grin

Does that cover it? Can I ask you guys about yourselves? Blush

thanksamillion · 08/01/2012 20:55

Hi attila I'm thanks - sometimes referred to as milly on here or I guess I could be tam.

I'm a missionary working in rural Moldova. We work with the Baptist church here but our 'home church' is free/evangelical and I've previously attended CofE and grew up in a very Methodist household Grin. The church here is, shall we say, more conservative than I am so I have to remember to modify my behaviour (no swaying to the music Hmm etc).

Oh and I've got 3 DCs the oldest of who is 6 and one DH Grin

SESthebrave · 08/01/2012 21:09

Welcome Attilla :)

I'm SES! I live in Surrey and have a 2.7yo DS with another DC on the way in May. Been married to DH for 5 yrs having met him through the internet 18 months before! I was brought up in a loosely CofE household but not attending church until I went with a friend and her family as a teenager during which time things were tough at home and I came to trust in God and develop my faith.
Went to uni and became involved with the ecumenical chaplaincy there. To cut a v long story short..... on returning home after uni I didn't feel at home in my CofE church and ended up looking into Roman Catholocism and was received into the RC church after 6 months. I now co-ordinate the catechetical group for our parish for people interested in finding out more about Christianity with a RC perspective.
By day I'm also a pharmacist working as manager for a well known large chain of chemists, line managing about 45 pharmacists across East and West Sussex!

Oh by the way, I'm not very good at being brief and concise so sorry for the life history Blush Grin

nickelhasababy · 09/01/2012 10:56

I love talking about me! Grin
I'm a traditional CofE chorister, married to the church's organist/choirmaster (which could sound like a saucy story, because I didn't get together with him until after he became the choirmaster. oo-er). We have 1 DD, who is brand new, and we live in Sittingbourne. I'm from Nottingham originally, and have always been a traditional girl. Didn't join a church choir until I had left uni, but I did sing in my 6th form college's choir.

On this board, we have lots of friendly banter about music and style of worship - we all have different tastes, and it makes for interesting arguments fights discussions Grin
me being traditional, hates Graham Kendrick, but there are some on here who think he sits on God's right hand Wink

AttillaTheMum · 09/01/2012 14:21

Oh musical tastes! I am on the worship team and my tastes are so varied, im looking forward to these discussions

DutchOma · 09/01/2012 14:45

I didn't think GK was dead yet. Grin
Hi, I'm the universal Oma of Mumsnet, with two grown up children. The son has a baby girl, who is five months, the daughter has a boy (5) and a girl (nearly 3). We belong to a large Baptist church with many mission interests, oth here and abroad. My musical tastes are much like Nickel's but what I get is probably more like yours Attilla.
