Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

how are you box?

yay! mrsc

well I have spent a very hot afternoon unpacking the kitchen cupboard then working cramped up inside the cupboard trying to make the shelf support hole larger to fit an old support in, because the small one has broken the hole and is slipping out. the drill bit didn't fit in the drill and there wasn't enough room for the awl so tying to file out the hole whilst kneeling or sitting in a cramped cupboard... but it is fixed.. for now.. now need to fix my back...

amberlight · 05/06/2011 09:37

Much prayer for everyone...

BoxofDelights · 05/06/2011 17:04

hello! so here's the upshot. Yesterday was a big and rather eventful day on various levels. I checked all of the email backlog and there are some important things I missed, though I don't know whether there are going to be any disciplinary repercussions at work. I still don't know whether I have a job from the summer though. I'm heading into a busy week of meetings this week to try to work out what is happening and what the future holds. I am also going to have further tests on my heart this week. Thank you so much for your prayers, it has meant a great deal!

blackeyedsusan · 05/06/2011 20:15

prayers box of delights. prayed that you stay calm, think clearly and God would surround you with his love this difficult week. prayed that the drs will find what they need to find. be kind to yourself this week. it is a lot to deal with.

Amber, how are you feeling?

sweetest, i hope they are looking after you well. prayers for recovery of mind and body. I hope that the speech therapy is going well.

how are you cd? ((belated hugs))

madhair, did you get a good rest on holiday?

how are you syrupfairy?

Jaffa, how is the hayfever? are you getting any relief with rainy weather?

amberlight · 05/06/2011 20:26

Hi BES, good thanks. How about you?

BoxofDelights · 05/06/2011 20:27

thank you so much blackeyedsusan, am feeling slightly frazzled. You sound like a DIY expert!

Jaffa - I don't want to interfere but if you have hayfever sometimes the antihistamines can knock you out: I used to take something called piriton which made me feel drowsy and depressed. It might be worth looking at some of the new antihistamines? loratadine is a good one for all the time and benadryl can help when you have a sudden allergy crisis?

walking to my little village church to sit in prayer and remember everyone's concerns

blackeyedsusan · 05/06/2011 20:29

madhair, how is your mum? Been praying for continued recovery.

blackeyedsusan · 05/06/2011 22:46

second loratidine, £2 from asda! also you can get drops for eyes and nasal spray.. (pregnant and breastfeeding option)

JentlyDoesIt · 06/06/2011 10:37

Morning all, how is everyone?

DO - did you get your shoes? I have a nasty shoe habit, DP calls me Imelda Marcos :o My most prized possessions are my Jimmy Choos...

We can't do the 13th August :( That's the day we will be travelling south to spend the week with DP's Dad and Stepmum :) I will be seeing Darling Dippy during the following week though so I shan't feel too left out :o

Please can I make a request? I have just got really upset over the rape threads that have appeared on here in recent days. I know a lot of you guys know my current situation and I know I am overly sensitive to it but I'm really distressed by it. Prayers for calm and non panicking would be lovely...

Prayers aplenty for all xx

Swaliswan · 06/06/2011 10:40

Morning All,

I haven't been around for a while. Sorry. Please can you pray for me (see here). I don't feel able to talk any more about stuff at the moment but I know that prayer will help.

DO I frequently wonder how you are so I'm off to read the thread and find out!

DutchOma · 06/06/2011 10:58

Yes, I did get my shoes, thank you Jen. I call my dd Imelda Marcos too, but the shop we went to didn't tempt her. Or rather it did, but the shoes she wanted were only in size 4 whereas she needs 6. She has feet that are a size apart, so buying shoes for her was always a nightmare.
I haven't see the rape threads, but can well imagine that they must be very upsetting for you.
So sorry you won't be able to come to the meet-up, it would have been really lovely to see you.

SS, praying for courage just now. I have replied on the other thread as well, but be assured that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that stars are brighter when you are looking up to them from a deep well.

madhairday · 06/06/2011 11:48

SS, praying for you. It is a very difficult thing to go through.

BES, thanks for asking about my mum, she is doing so well, I am thrilled, praise God :)

Jen :( Praying for you.

Box, Amber, BES, DO, Mrs C, praying ...

Mary, you OK? You're quiet.

amberlight · 06/06/2011 12:35

Anyone heard from Mary? Thought she was back by now...?

Jently, much prayer for you. Think I'll be avoiding them too Sad

SS and everyone else, praying for you all...

Teaandcakeplease · 06/06/2011 15:50

DO - I'm off to France tomorrow morning bright and early with the kids and a Christian friend whose coming to help me. She's lovely and will be a blessing. The holiday was a gift from a friend who paid in full for it plus 1 adult a year ago. It's come round slowly but now it's here I'm feeling suitably nervous and worried. Think I've got all the basses covered on warning triangles, GB stickers, Overseas breakdown cover etc. Thanks to my Dad's financial help too. But prayers for a safe journey. Peace in the car with kids etc would be fab. It's just a Thomson Al Fresco hols in a mobile home but considering I haven't been abroad on holiday since 2005 nor am I likely to go again for a long time I really want this to be a special time and I feel it's well deserved after my divorce.

So sorry it's such a selfish post Blush

Away to finish packing x

amberlight · 06/06/2011 16:14

TACP. not in the least selfish. If we don't look after ourselves, we're no use to everyone else, so a prayer that we can keep going and have a decent break isn't selfish at all. Much prayer for you.

DutchOma · 06/06/2011 16:37

And prayers from me TACP. Not in the least bit selfish. Have a wonderful time.

OP posts:
madhairday · 06/06/2011 18:35

TACP, not at all selfish. You deserve a wonderful break. Hope you all have a fantastic time - will pray for a good journey and lots of rest and fun :)

madhairday · 06/06/2011 18:37

Can I just ask for a little prayer. I have applied for a small pt admin job, based at home, for a church organisation - I would love it, I love the organisation and can do all the admin stuff - some conference organising too - have had to explain all about my disability and my liability to suddenly get sick but feel I could work round it as the job is onyl 2 days per week. Please could you pray for the right outcome? I'm so excited at the thought of it!

thejaffacakesareonme · 06/06/2011 19:26

Evening ladies!

Thanks for the tips re hayfever. It has been a bit better, but that might be because I've been working hard and not outside very much at all.

Prayers for all - lots going on at the moment for different people.

Have a great holiday TACP

gingercurl · 06/06/2011 20:49

Prayers for everyone.

I've been wondering is God has been trying to tell me something over the last week or so or if it's just my imagination seeing connections that aren't there. If it is Him, I don't want to miss it by dismissing it but I worry a bit about what's next.
Sorry, I'm not making sense but I don't want to share this with anyone yet really. Wouldn't know how to explain it to someone else.

SweetestThing · 06/06/2011 22:48

Just popping in to say hello before bedtime. My wound is now infected so I am on anti-biotics and back to doctor tomorrow for a swab to be taken - just wish things could be straightforward and uncomplicated for once.

Prayers for all you lovely people, although my praying is quite inarticulate at the moment as my mind is so weary.

x

blackeyedsusan · 06/06/2011 23:12
