Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

Prayers of thanks that DS got three A levels! What a triumph after the last two years and all he's been through with his own health and with us too.
Prayers for everyone else as I'm reading through.

blackeyedsusan · 18/08/2011 11:28

the window cleaners are here. ds was shouting "I want the raining", then the brush hits the window he is standing at. he jumps a mile (several times) and thinks the water is going to go on his tummy. it as vey funny. as soon as it is gone he shouting for the brush back!

Teaandcakeplease · 18/08/2011 11:57

Great news Sooz and Amber Smile God is good.

AliGrylls · 18/08/2011 13:53

Congratulations Amber.

Thinking of your nephew and praying for you and your family in their hour of need.

SweetestThing · 18/08/2011 17:25

Well done, Amber's DS :)

Prayers for all.

I wouldn't recommend the radiotherapy diet to anyone - today I have managed 3 spoonsful of custard. My throat is so sore and swollen and I have lots of mouth ulcers, which makes eating difficult. I knew I would have all these side-effects but they're still hard to deal with!

Moan over.....

amberlight · 18/08/2011 17:30

Sweetest, yup re mouth ulcers. Are you taking something for them? Much prayer...

SweetestThing · 18/08/2011 17:31

amber, just co-codamol and some throat lozenges. Forgot to take my anti-nausea tablet this morning and suffered for it - won't make that mistake again!

ZipadiSoozi · 18/08/2011 18:53

Ali - Welcome!

Thank you for your prayers for my nephew, he is eating a little today, so hopefully build his strength up a bit! my sister (his mum) is very clingy today, not like her, I am praying for them both.

Sweet - Not a nice lesson in forgetting tablets, my continued prayers for you & Amber

New job getting more do-able the more I think about it, just hope I don't get too stressed out with the organisation of family life around it, but dc all growing up and quite capable, although I still think twins a little young, saying that they made me toast today, was yummy

oops, twaddling, better boing off!
xxxx

PositiveAttitude · 18/08/2011 19:06

Congrats Sooz and Amber's DS.

Prayers for you Sweetest.

Welcome Ali

Here, DD2 did get her 3 A-levels, but not at the grades she had hoped for, so she is disappointed. It wont change her plans for the future though.

AliGrylls · 18/08/2011 21:15

Sweetest, it sounds like you are having a really rough time. Thinking and praying for you.

blackeyedsusan · 18/08/2011 21:59

cars, mutter mutter, tyres, chunter chunter, nails, grumble grumble in my new tyre chunter, chunter. no flippin' jack in the bleepity bleep car.

oh well, had just renewed breakdown insurance, so that is something and I wasn't going anywhere special, so can thank God for that. h is visiting the children tomorrow and has been requested to stop at halfords on the way as it is just off the route he could come.

blackeyedsusan · 18/08/2011 22:02

stops chuntering long enough to hope that sweetest gets some medicine. My dad has some really good medicine for ulcers that he got on prescription. tried some once Blush perhaps you could get some from the gp. it covers the ulcer up and has pain relief in it.

goes back to chuntering... little voice... "mummy i dunna poo... "

blackeyedsusan · 18/08/2011 23:41

.... "theres a flying bug" (moth, sent on a seaside holiday)

"oh no sock off" (sock put back on)
TotallyUnheardOf · 18/08/2011 23:48

Hello all.

I haven't been around for the longest time, I know (new job, holiday, busy busy busy), but I had to come back with a happy ending and many many prayers answered. Some of you know that one of the things that led me to rediscover my faith was a desire to do something to help some friends who were having difficulty conceiving. I started to pray, in the absence of anything else I could possibly do, initially with huge scepticism and eventually with more conviction, as my faith grew.

Anyway, they got a BFP at Christmas, and their beautiful baby was born this week. The pregnancy was not without its ups and downs, but they are so happy to have their baby here safe and sound, and I am so very happy for them.

I just wanted to share this, and to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for this prayer answered.

Prayers, too, for all of you on this thread.

RosieBP · 19/08/2011 00:57

Prayers for best friend please - first baby now overdue and she lost her mum last week pretty unexpectedly. Would be grateful if you could think of her.

MaryBS · 19/08/2011 07:31

Prayers for sweetest, and also for your friend Rosie.

Thats fantastic news TUO, and welcome back by the way! :)

Prayers for all those with exam results, and those struggling to find university/college places in clearing.

MaryBS · 19/08/2011 07:32

Oh and forgot to say we go on holiday this evening, so prayers for a safe journey, both tonight and tomorrow (we break up our journey at a premier inn) please, and for a good holiday for us all, we need it!

amberlight · 19/08/2011 08:01

Prayers assured

amberlight · 19/08/2011 08:03

PS Sweetest, corsodyl mouthwash seems to be really good stuff for mouth ulcers for me and a lot of other chemo ladies seem to swear by it too

DutchOma · 19/08/2011 09:19

TUO, what wonderful news on so many levels.
Prayers for Rosie's friend, for Mary, for Sweetest.

BES, this too will pass, hope that the poo was of the 'alrightish' type. Prayers that the visit goes well and you get your car sorted.

Prayers also for the family of Magic8. There are threads in Chat and Arts and Crafts with the details.
That's five blankets we have needed this year.
I love Mumsnet.

SweetestThing · 19/08/2011 20:19

TUO, that's wonderful to read.

Thank you for prayers and for the advice re Corsodyl. Saw consultant today and he was very pleased with my mouth and throat, so that made me feel a bit better, like I am taking good care of myself. I am now 60% through the course of treatment and finally feel as if I can see a wee bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

My blog got accepted by Mumsnet! I thought it might be a bit too gory or serious, given the nature of some of the other blogs, but they seem to want it, so I am quite chuffed about that. It's on the bloggers network under the title "Facing up to things".

Thanks, as always, for your continuing prayers and support. It really makes a difference to know that you lovely people are offering me up to God.

blackeyedsusan · 20/08/2011 13:32

DutchOma · 20/08/2011 15:27

Oh BES, I do hope and pray it gets better before Monday
