what about this one?

(means you can't see me anymore....)

essenceofSES · 09/04/2011 14:57

V good Easter name changes - I'll have to put my thinking cap on....

Bach - enjoy SH!!!

It is a gorgeously hot, sunny day here :) DS is asleep and the washing is on the line, so I'm sitting in the garden lapping up the rays on my pasty white legs!

nickelbaalamb · 09/04/2011 16:29

I've spent the whole day in semi-sleep!
(not helpful with customers...)

My saturday Girl (henceforth to be referred to as SG) is back for the hols, so I made the most of her and hada kip.
then she had a stoooopid lady asking if we had something in stock that I'd already told her last week that we didn't stock, because it's not a children's book.
SG had to call me downstairs, whereupon the customer said to me, very brusquely in front of SG "this girl said you can't get them"
(that's not what she said - she said we didn't have them and had to order that kind of thing) Angry
So I gave her info on what I could order and how much, to which she replied "have you got any in stock so I can see them?2 No, I haven't, nor did I last week when you asked me the same question, nor did I 30 seconds ago when I patiently explained that I don't stock adults' books and would have to order them.
So, no, you can't have a look at one before you buy it, because I still don't have them!

PositiveAttitude · 09/04/2011 20:03

Oh dear nickel, have a Wine, oh no you cant so have a Brew and relax!

In the stoooooopid ladies slight defence, this could so easily be the sort of thing my mum would do. She has alzheimers and just wouldnt remember asking last week, then would be confused about asking today, but then again, maybe she was just stoooopid! Grin

Lovely day here, summer sunshine. DCs wanted to go and see my parents, so I phoned to make sure they were in, as they always like me to do - don't like surprises! I spoke with mum and told her we would be there within 15 minutes. As I was driving up to them the DCs suddenly shouted "there's nanny and grandad" driving in the opposite direction. Angry + Confused SHe hadnt told dad that I had phoned and they had decided to go out, so had to follow their car and catch up with them.
Not one of mum's good days today! Sad
I'll have a wine for you all if you like.

Hope Baroque is having fun and lots of hand waving. I admit though, I always found the first evening soooooooo stressful and always felt like turning round and coming home again. Blush

MadHairyMilkEggonEasterDay · 10/04/2011 13:00

Morning all

Lovely sunshine here. spent the day visitng my bro and new nephew yesterday. He is gorgeous and all newborn snuggly :)

PositiveAttitude · 10/04/2011 13:49

Hi MHD. Love the name. Grin Envy of new born cuddles.

I thought of you lot in church this morning. We had a dedication service and the young lad being dedicated had asked if we could sing "Cast your burdens onto Jesus". If you know this, you'll know the chorus is "Higher, higher, higher, higher, lift Jesus Higher......" and "lower, lower..... stamp satan lower". Unfortunately the person who typed out the words on the screen had typed "Hiya, Hiya" and "Lowah, Lowah". I just COULD NOT sing it. I cannot sing "Hiya Jesus". What on earth is our church coming to???!!!! Cringe factor x 1million. Shock

MadHairyMilkEggonEasterDay · 10/04/2011 13:55

pmsl at hiya hiya!! Grin

SESwilleatallthechocoalate · 10/04/2011 14:15

PA - oh no Shock at "hiya" Shock That would really have bugged me too!!

MHD - yay for newborn snuggles!

Well it could be said that DS was full of spirit at church this morning - not the Holy Spirit though! He always decides to find his voice during the readings/prayers/homily but not during the singing! It's almost as if he concentrates on everyone singing and the musicians. After the first hymn he shouted "yeah" and gave everyone a clap!
I need to start playing "let's be quiet" games with him I think so that I can get him to stay quiet at the essential times!

DutchOma · 10/04/2011 17:25

PA I too hate all the 'gonna' 'wanna' 'yeah, yeah, yeah's, sometimes there is such sloppy language in the new choruses.

PositiveAttitude · 10/04/2011 17:42

DO, the problem with this one was that the word was totally wrong and inappropriate!! Instead of lifting Jesus Higher, we were singing Hiya Jesus!!

DutchOma · 10/04/2011 19:31

I know, I know, I would have shuddered too. I wondered how the person who typed it up on the screen got it so wrong?
Nice idea though, to ask the person being dedicated for a favourite hymn.
We are looking forward to FIVE Baptisms at Easter. I know one of them: Jerry, who is quite disabled and finds it hard to speak, but she is just so lovely.

MaryBS · 10/04/2011 20:08

Just back from Evensnog, and have struggled to keep a straight face re: the sundry places, manifold sins and wickedness and both our hearts :o. This thread is BAD for my spirituality Wink

PositiveAttitude · 10/04/2011 20:49

OOoh we have 4 baptisms next week, too, DO Smile

Mary I know what you mean. This morning instead of grinning and thinking "Oh dear", I sat through the service thinking "What will the MN crew make of this one, eh?" I hope both your hearts are now calm! Grin
I have just emailed the guy who is in charge of all the screen thingies and said a little tongue in cheek that it should be changed. Hopefully he will be ok, as he is the one person who picks me up on any mistake in my weekly newsheet.

RedbinD · 10/04/2011 20:53

Mary I don't usually hang around religious threads, but wheres the best place to go for even snog?

MaryBS · 11/04/2011 08:26

:o

MadHairyMilkEggonEasterDay · 11/04/2011 10:03

Grin at evensnog

Much better than evensong IMeversohumbleO Grin

(but then I am a plebb)

MaryBS · 11/04/2011 11:51

And one of these days, I'm going to call the Archdeacon the Archdemon to his or the bishop's face :o

nickelbaalamb · 11/04/2011 12:24

Grin PA hahahahahahha [rolleyes]
what is the world coming to!
why don't people just bloody check what they've produced before using it???

(we call it Evensnog, too Grin )

spending several hours now compiling the new church magazine.
I got so fed up of nothing being done, that i've taken the bull by the horns and am producing one for May-June-July.
totally missed the Easter services boat, but hey-ho!
Trying to do it in Word Booklet, because that's what the previous editor did (i'm doing it, then sending it to her for final approval etc) Word Booklet is bloody odd and very difficult to format.
I tell it I want the front cover with a border, so it makes all the pages with a border! Hmm
Can't number the pages in the footer, because it keeps trying to number the front cover too, which will look very odd!
(beginning to think maybe front cover should have beena separate document.....)

PositiveAttitude · 11/04/2011 12:40

Can't you use publisher Nickel, or I use coral draw, which can be a pain, but quite good i you persevere with the odd quirk!

PositiveAttitude · 11/04/2011 12:41

I find word booklet incredibly infuriatingly inflexible.

nickelbaalamb · 11/04/2011 12:42

I haven't got publisher.

I personally would use micrographix draw 6, which is what I always use, but I have to email it to this other lady, so I have to use the programme she always uses.
Can't risk sending it in a programme that she doesn't have (because i'd then have to print it out in order for her to check it, and that's just a waste of paper)

PositiveAttitude · 11/04/2011 15:17

MMm I see. Maybe you will get used to it.
Grin

nickelbaalamb · 11/04/2011 17:23

I'm just compiling it.
At the moment it is working like a huge word document (which is annoying at the best of times!), but i've no idea what will happen when I print it out....

I'll let the other lady sort it out! Grin

PositiveAttitude · 11/04/2011 17:40

Always a good move Wink

MadHairyMilkEggonEasterDay · 11/04/2011 18:12

May be worth downloading Publisher nickel, I find it sooooo much easier than Word for formatting notice sheets etc, you can move things around to where you like, it's much more intuitive somehow. word drives me up the wall for doing anything beyond simple typing/minutes type things.
