I wanted to put some random thoughts and stuff regarding church, without it having to be a debate or a specific topic (and not prayers, either)

It's basically, a "what happened at church (or in my musical/spiritual life) this week" thread. Grin
Please join me!

I'll start:

We had Midnight Mass (on Christmas Eve, would you believe!), and it was half past 11, everyone was sitting and ready for the service to start - I waved the organist to give me my notes: he was just about to plat them when:
" TAXI FOR suchandsuch " came blaring out of our speaker system. Angry
There's a Wetherspoon's over the road and looks like the DJ's mike was on the same frequency as our radio mikes.
So, all the congregation started giggling and we had to wait 5 minutes until everyone was calm and collected enough to carry on.

hahahha - just looking at some "humourous" church signs to stick in the space for the "funny" on the newsletter.

This one made me ROFLMAO and think of MN \link{http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTf8-mNd7pdb5RgtMmW-4s0sq2GFNZetx7cGTzJeQ4PvjgcsIqF\here} Grin

Just thought, does anyone listen to UCB on the radio or online? It's a great Christian radio station, well several stations actually. Usually fab music and teaching, and I particularly like the news programmes as they're very positive compared to other ones.

lyra41 · 19/02/2011 15:21

not that I'm advertising, it's just a big part of my spiritual life.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:21

yes I've got it online and on the Virgin box - though I usually play my worhsihp CD's or Christian music playlists off Youtube Grin

lyra41 · 19/02/2011 15:23

can you do a link to the youtube play lists? i've not learnt links yet, but would like to.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:25

there's quite a few - if you search on Youtube for "christian worship" or similar and then choose playlists there's quite a few to choose through.

Or sometimes I indulge and search for Robin Mark, or Stuart Townend playlists Grin

lyra41 · 19/02/2011 15:27

how come you're not sleeping well Baroque?

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 15:41

i tend to search for specific music - if it's somethign that we're doing at church, or something that we're thinking about doing in the future.
then i like to browse through the suggestions it throws up at the side.
(and i add things to my playlist if i like the sound of them)
also, on the frontpage when you log in, it gives suggestions of things you might like to hear.

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 15:43

like i'm just listening to
beautiful!
but i got there because i was listening to

which gave me Grin
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:45

you can watch other people's created playlists too >

PositiveAttitude · 19/02/2011 15:46

Oh do you do your newsletter too, Baroque, so do I.

I did have a fantastic list of "church" jokes and those stupid things that people put in newsheets that actually are quite funny. I used to put them into the newsletter, which caused a bit of a titter ever week. Now I just dont have room, but I search for them online when its the school holidays and I have more room. I'd love to see what yours looks like, if you dont mind me being nosey. I could send you a pdf of ours, just to see if we can swap any ideas if you are up for it.
Not sure how to do it other than an email attachment, so let me know if you want to.

Grin at "silent growth while men are sleeping" Not heard of that song before!

What sort of shop do you work in Nickel?

We've just had a lovely relaxing time with DD3, DD4 and DS watching "Social Network" on DVD. Now they are all off doing their own thing and I am contemplating all the hoovering and tidying that needs doing.......or not!!!Blush

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:49

yes I do - took it over in October time when the woman who used to do it lost her DD suddenly.

To start with I struggled to fit them on - but I changed the entire format and also fit something on it somewhere now

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:50

oh - just realised you ask what it looked like - don't mind sharing at all Grin

PositiveAttitude · 19/02/2011 15:54

Shall I PM you my email address? I dont know how else to get it to you. You cant do attachments through PM can you?????

You could email yours as a publisher file, which I can open on my church computer next time I am in my office. Not got publisher at home.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 15:55

ooooo - no I've just worked it Grin - and saved my first file as a PDF

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 19/02/2011 16:01

ok - there should be a PDF (or at least something you can view Grin) on it's way to you now

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 16:02

B can you send me a copy too? and you PA ?
please.

we're currently on a one-page newssheet, and no magazine, because noone is doing it now (our editor was the only member of staf fon the team and she got pissed off with doing it on her own for 4 years, so she resigned at the end of the year - I said i'd like to help, but i couldn't take it on, and was suddenly charged with it. the music lady form St Mary's said she'd like to help, too, but none of us has tiem to do anything, and if we re-launch, we've got to overhaul, so a newsletter type newssheet might be a good idea.

my shop's a children's book shop.

nickelbabe · 19/02/2011 16:03
