Speaking as a rescuer, imo anyone who gives up and gives up on a puppy without an extremely good reason is abandoning that dog. You took that dog to rescue and left him there. THAT is what I meant by "abandoned". You don't need to throw a dog into the streets to let it down and abandon it. You'll find that this view and the way the the word is used is quite common amongst rescuers and animal rights supporters.
My part in the rehoming was this Bella - when I read how utterly callous the OP was I called Labradoodle Trust, using my rescue background and knowledge to urge them to try to make space to take in the OPs dog asap. I considered him at risk, not least as she stated she hated him. The OP had already said that she'd been in touch with LT and that she was awaiting a call back from them.
When I spoke to Barbara Turnbull she was pretty sure that she had NOT had any approach from the OP. Whether this was definately the case, I don't know.
As you are aware, Barbara Turnbull later posted on here, giving her details and asking the OP to make contact, which clearly the OP eventually did.
I can't speak for the LT specifically but most rescues are normally very hard pushed to take in a dog within a couple of days unless he, and sadly even sometimes despite him being, at immediate risk of PTS. LT did however find that space for the OPs dog, Barbara Turnbull assuring me on, I think iirr, the Thursday, that "we can have him out of there [the OPs house] this weekend".
Regardless of the fact that I am being accused of lying, which I deny wholeheartedly, I will always be indebted to LT for that decision.
