Another child death waiting to happen. Absolute chav mentality. Judging so, so hard.

Don’t really care what you have too say to be honest I’m far farr from a chav , she’s never shown one sign of aggression and she’s been having one to one training with a professional now 🥱🙂

Given you didn't know she was a dangerous breed or that her toenails were too long a week ago I sort of hope you stick around to keep the poor dog comfortable at least, and keep your kid(s) safer than they were before

A professional trainer doing one to one sessions with a banned breed...not sure your idea of professional is the same as everyone else's OP.

This crossed my mind too

No way would I have a pit bull in a house with children. Madness. Dog should be surrendered.

Those nails will take a while to get back to normal as the quick grows with the nail. The groomer won’t have been able to trim those nails back sufficiently within a few weeks, nor would a positively trained trainer have been able to make leaps and bounds progress.

Agreed-When nails have been allowed to grow into claws / talons it’s a remedial job of very fine paring to allow quick to retreat slowly.

Those talons couldn’t have been clipped to an appropriate shortness as the quicks would be extremely painful and would bleed like hell -

Ensuring the dog would put up a struggle next time. Dogs remember being “ Quicked’.

I don't think anyone is really fooled into believing this poor dog has suddenly had her nails 'all sorted' and a professional trainer surely.

Not really, but we will never know. We can but hope.

It’s shocking some of the training methods used currently.
That “ Dog Daddy” for one- he uses a slip lead high around the top of the neck behind the ears- Gives the dogs a throttle/pop so of course they behave momentarily-
But handed back to their often inappropriate owners and it is a different story.

No dog is “ Sorted” as fast as he alleges
The owner themselves need training and need to train their dog themselves.

People who send dogs off to boot camp find their animals often revert to unwanted behaviours unless training is kept up.

Had to catch a man’s large labradoodle yesterday as the dog was completely ignoring his angry shouts. ( what a surprise!)

Slips are meant to be used high up. They don’t sit where a normal colllar does.

Have you seen how Dog Daddy uses them?
like a hangman’s noose.

I like wide flat collars - much gentler- and a loose lead.

That rather depends on your view. Slips are actually used as a speedy way to get a gun dog on and off lead, and not as a method of control. Thus it shouldn't matter where it is. If it is being placed high up, it will definitely be more effective at making a dog behave in a certain way, however this isn't really training, it is forcing a response.

As @oakleaffy says, a dog "trained" in this way will very quickly revert to its previous disposition once the slip is removed.

It is like any tool, misused, it will have unintended consequences.

So did you confirm the breed and get your exemption @Becky332 ? Or is your "professional" dog trainer potentially working with an unlicensed banned breed?
