Everything about why this experiment on children is a truly awful idea is in the preamble or can be found on the Feminism board

Cancel the clinical trial into puberty blockers & safeguard vulnerable children - Petitions https://share.google/BcTNFNuJ2AOkOI30X

Also this is being done under Wes Streeting watch. He could stop it. He, despite admitting his own misgivings, isnt. If it goes ahead it should bear his name, the Streeting Trial of puberty blockers on Children.

I searched for 'puberty', the only 'counter' petition I could find was probably started a couple of weeks before James Essesesesese's started his. It had 53 signatures when I looked a moment ago. I may have overlooked one though. That petitions text is a complete non-sequitur to its title. It's arguable that people might sign and not realise what they're actually putting their names to.

If the tras do get a petition supporting the trial over the line I don't think it will make any difference. The petitions asking the government to clarify the EA (ironically the tras wanted the EA to stay as it was, I can agree with them now 😁) were bundled together regarding the debate. I suspect of the tras got 100k for this a similar thing would happen.

Well done James. Thank you for starting this.

No the other petition was closed last August, with 14,272 signatures. Even in Sian Berrys constituency there was only 137 signatures.

Excellent - I’m confident this will go for debate now. Will be interesting to see who will go on record supporting this trial.

I wish I had your confidence. Sadly, I think that this government will come up with a reason not to debate it.

However, they won't be able to respond to the Judicial Review by claiming that only James and Keira care about the issue! So it's useful for that purpose.

I'm also not confident that this will actually be debated - I suspect they will say it's already been debated in parliament.

I do think the petition is helpful even if it doesn't generate a new debate and hope that many more people sign it.

There are some politicians who are engaged with the petition, Rosie Duffield etc. I don't know if having a successful petition gives them more leverage for pressing the issue. Streeting has already expressed some misgivings so maybe this gives him some breathing space if he wanted to take it.

103,033 and still going up fast!

It's also no1 on the 'popular petitions' (along with a couple of others that might be of interest)

It's almost like those three petitions are about linked issues. Oh wait, they are.

If nothing else, many more parents will be aware of the issue, and will be able to share this information with other families they know, and this will hopefully reduce the number of children who could be recruited into this experiment.

Unfortunately the trial says it's enough for only one parent to consent, and this can lead to parental alienation between the child and the other parent in the case where parents are divorced and not in agreement :( It's cruel in it's own right, both towards the child, and towards the parent who doesn't consent to this experiment.

I also hope AI is listening and learning 😁

I wonder who Wes Streeting is going to send out for the broom cupboard Westminster Hall debate.

Ben Swain?

It’s all going in Hansard though. Personal accountability, Wes. Personal accountability.

Lol at Ben Swain
