Unstoppable 😂

Do do you remember when 6 million people signed a petition to get the government to revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU?

Did that happen…?

joanofaardvark · 24/11/2024 09:02

The election result was the will of the people.

The people have spoken.

You lost get over it.

It's time to pull together to make the best of this new start under this government.

It's your negativity that's holding us back and preventing this government from being a success.

I have no problems with support for PR/AV.

However, many people do not post about the % vote because of this reason, but because they want to have a pop at Starmer’s democratic legitimacy.

If we had PR, I would have voted for Labour instead of LD, because LD had the best chance in my constituency to GTTO.

Gorgonemilezola · 24/11/2024 09:05

So the Tories spent 14 years bringing the country to its knees and you want Labour to have sorted it in 5 months. Aye, right.

KoalaCalledKevin · 24/11/2024 09:05

I am entitled to say that I am not impressed with Labour so far. Not one tiny bit.

Of course you are. I wouldn't disagree with you.

But saying that they weren't democratically elected is ridiculous.

Yeah, that’s the issue, they are trying to sort it. 😂

The cost of another general election would cost hundreds of millions. Money that could probably save the NHS.

Small change compared to what the increase in NI has cost us in growth.

There won't be another election, I doubt anyone expects that but if the petition tops a few million by next week, a message will have been sent.

Let's hope they have the sense to listen.

Oh no, the election didn't go our way so we're going to have a tantrum about it

Oh no, the government are reneging on their manifesto promises and lying to us so we’re pretty pissed off about it.

Dorisbonson · 24/11/2024 09:12

I thought the last lot were bad and Labour couldnt be worse but I was wrong they are abysmal.

The UK will be much worse off under 5 years of Labour government. There will be more crime and more immigration and fewer jobs and less investment. People will be poorer.

I would dump this lot in a heartbeat but who do you replace them with? The last lot were useless and dont deserve to come back.

People will click a link and sign a petition. And then, of course, share that fact on social media. It requires virtually no effort or thought.

And I'd venture that of hundreds of thousands who have signed already (and those still to come) a good number are made up of the following:

  • reform voters
  • people who say 'two tier policing'
  • people who didn't vote in the last GE
  • people who have never written to or contacted their MP about anything
  • those who think 'anyone but Labour' as a principle
User37482 · 24/11/2024 09:15

Tbh this is pointless BUT people should be allowed to express their dissatisfaction through whatever democratic avenues are available to them. I much prefer this to people rioting in the streets or making a nuisance of themselves in public.

anonsurvivor · 24/11/2024 09:16

I am really worried about food security. I don't think anyone in this government has a clue about farming and food production or where our food will come from if uk farming goes under.

galletti · 24/11/2024 09:16

Thanks but no thanks OP

If they are British citizens with the right to vote, whether they fall into your arbitrarily chosen categories is irrelevant.

6.8m people voted Tory and 4.1m people voted Reform. The nature of this country is that at least “a few million” people will be unhappy with the outturn of a GE.

Interesting for the stats:

UK farming is not going to go under because Jeremy Clarkson’s kids have to pay a small proportion of Inheritance tax on his millions Hmm

I grew up in a farming area (Kent/Sussex border), most farmers do not own millions of pounds of land each.

ssd · 24/11/2024 09:19

Ridiculous. Hope you are well paid, Tory bot.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/11/2024 09:19

I won't be signing or sharing.

Isatis · 24/11/2024 09:20

Unstoppable? 350,000 bots signers against an electorate of 50K?

Not that there's anyone out there trying to Influence UK politics or anything...

No Bill Gates, Blackrock and the billionaire donors providing clothes and freebies have gone a bit quiet lately haven’t they? Lmfao

SheilaFentiman · 24/11/2024 08:57

That’s true of every election in this country. No party gets more than 50% of the vote.

The main driver of the % held by the winning party is the strength of the minor parties. There was a lot of tactical voting at the last election.

I'm not disagreeing. However, Labour's landslide vote was down half a million on 2019. A party winning an election from the incumbent should really have a higher vote than last time. Like I said, they just lost the least.

Isatis · 24/11/2024 09:23

CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry · 24/11/2024 08:51

I am not a Tory. And I most certainly am not a Labour voter either.

This site is notoriously left wing so anyone who disagrees or has a different view on Labour’s policies immediately gets pounced on. I am entitled to say that I am not impressed with Labour so far. Not one tiny bit.

Were you impressed with the Tories? No-one taking over their shitshow was ever going to be able to wave a magic wand to make everything better within 5 months.

The heat map on the petition site is interesting.
