Courtney Ellis, 14, was run over by Brandon Turton, who was driving at 93mph in a 30mph zone, in September 2020. Her older sister who watched she was hit and killed by a speeding driver now "suffers daily" with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Their mother, Angela Burke feels the seven-year driving ban is not enough and is campaigning for anyone who causes death by dangerous driving to receive a lifetime ban.

She said: "I don't want her death to have been for nothing. Imagine seeing the killer who is responsible for taking your child away from you in a horrific way driving around like nothing had happened, it's like rubbing it into my face. Driving is one of life's luxuries and it comes with rules and regulations so if this is abused in this way then this luxury should be taken away from them for life.
All I have left of my Courtney is a box of ashes, photos, her clothes, some of her hair, her handprint from the night she passed.

Courtney is pictured with her older sister and mother below. She is on the right. Please take a moment to sign this petition.

Roadpeace are a charity that may be interested in this too as they do a lot of campaigns on treating murder by dangerous driving as not just an 'accident'.

He did get 6yrs and 9mos in prison. But the driving ban runs concurrently. So he will be back to driving a few months after release. Perhaps a few years at most if he gets out early.

I gave up my drivers licence 8yrs ago due to a health condition that makes me an unsafe driver. I’ve never hurt anyone driving. If I can live without driving, then it’s not unreasonable to think someone who has knowingly driven dangerously and killed a child should have to stop driving for life as well.

Completely agree & will sign. My parent was killed by a driver in a stolen car doing 75mph on a 30mph road. He got a couple of years in prison and he’ll have his licence back by now. There should be harsher consequences.

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s a travesty how these are not treated more seriously. 💐
