@Organictangerine I think the point of the wording is just to show it’s inclusive. Many things are marketed as all ages but rely on adults to use their judgement as to whether it is suitable. I think this is one of those times

I think the point that it’s not graphic (sex-wise) that even a 5 year old could watch it and not be scarred.
(Insert person saying a 5 year old would be scarred by seeing a naked stranger. Newsflash: many children that age come across porn and other unsuitable images already).

We know who this show is aimed at, teens and older children.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 10/04/2022 22:28

It’s an opportunity to see a normal person nude.

WTAF? You clearly have a warped view of childhood. Do you know any real children, if you think THIS is the only way for kids to see naked bodies.

Children have plenty of opportunities to see naked bodies (in the family home, changing rooms etc) without it being sexualised, thanks very much.

It's a massive, blatant safeguarding fail and it's a failure of the safeguarding at the theatre that this hasn't yet been shut down.

Signed.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 10/04/2022 22:29

It's not the nakedness which is the safeguarding fail, it's the sexualisation - which the show clearly says it will do - discussing porn and STIs TO FIVE YEAR OLDS.

That is where the harm occurs.

It also says that children show sexual behaviour FROM BIRTH. WTF? Now co-opting babies into having sexual behaviour and identities. No thank you.

Absolutely! Can you imagine the playground chat? 'Did you do anything nice at the weekend?' 'Well it was Timmy's 5th birthday so we took him and a group of friends to see some naked adults performing a sex show, couldn't miss the opportunity!'
Motherchicken · 10/04/2022 22:38

Just curious, if they removed the 5+ rating and changed it to say 11+ Or 13+ could you see any pros to a show like this?

maddy68 · 10/04/2022 22:41

@Redannie118

No. Child sex education is vitally important. If you dont deem it suitable for your child, dont go. No where in the description does it state they will force 5 year olds to watch masturbation. It wouldnt have been allowed to be viewed for children if deemed pornographic. As I said its a theatre show, its not compulsory.

Midlifemusings · 10/04/2022 22:42

18+ would be the right age for me for this. Let adults choose if they wish to see it or not.

Sex education for children and teens should not be done by people who answered a twitter post and who wanted to be naked on stage and expose themselves to children. Those are not the people or the approach to sex education that is needed to better educate children or teens.

According to their website, they haven't finalized the content yet so no one has yet vetted the content.
Organictangerine · 10/04/2022 22:46

People defending the show keep saying it will ‘open up conversations’ but I cannot for the life of me think what these conversations would be, theoretically?

MichelleScarn · 10/04/2022 22:47

The people defending the show are either involved or have grim, dubious morals.

Wintersgirl · 10/04/2022 22:49

I know, it's fucking disgusting isn't it? If this isn't grooming I don't know what is.
Valhalla17 · 10/04/2022 22:53

Signed. This is grooming in plain sight, pushing of an "agenda" and needs to be stopped.

Who on earth thinks this? No-one who's ever met a real baby. Babies can't move themselves at birth, or talk, so suggesting they can exhibit sexual behaviour is clearly utterly ridiculous.

This is classic PIE / MAP territory

Neverreturntoathread · 10/04/2022 23:11

Signed. More sexualisation of children 😭

Once upon a time, adults who dance naked in front of little children while banging on about sex, were labelled perverts and arrested. I was ok with that. Is still the case in most of the world actually.

Madhairday · 10/04/2022 23:13

There's another petition going round too OP that has 30,000 or so signatures so might be worth signing that too.
