Please sign this petition if you would like schools to move to online learning from 9 December so we can all self isolate before meeting elderly relatives for Christmas

This is even more batshit than the petition that went round ds' sports group -aren't whatsapp asking people to sign one that suggested during lockdown sports groups for children could carry on. And I thought that one was spectacularly missing the point.

But sure, if you think further endangering our children's education as well as messing with employment etc is a good idea so you can see your granny, go ahead. As a pp said - go ahead and self isolate yourself and take you're outofschool but leave the rest of us out of it.

Not signing.
What an incredibly selfish demand to make.
GFY.

Are you forced to meet elderly relatives?
Why would you want to damage your children even more if you are not forced to?

SallyTimms · 29/11/2020 18:20

No way.. Are you for real?? If you want 2 weeks off, keep your dc at home 2 weeks. Don't try inflicting this in my dc who are losing out on weeks and weeks of education.

PickAChew · 29/11/2020 18:22

They've missed more than enough school this year so no.

I'm a primary school teacher, another big fat no from me too.

I have parents who are over 70, so we have sensibly decided that it is too risky to see one another. We might meet for a dog walk at the end of the holidays when we have all done less musing with others and lowered the risk. Honestly, my child's education and my parents' health is more important than Christmas.

No. Read Scotland’s advice for the festive period relaxation of COVID rules. It is spot on.

grenadines · 29/11/2020 18:39

No from me. DC in yr 11 has mocks. We will not be seeing family at Christmas.

Most people develop symptoms within 5 days of contact with an infected person so the chances are that if you isolate from 18th December to 25th you will not pass covid on to relatives.

Furthermore what would you be doing with your kids if they weren't at school for the last week or two of term?
