AIBU to think some MNers are gits?

Ha! Got your attention. Pretty much the only way I could get people to find the way to this hidden topic of mystery, the petitions and online campaigns topic.

This year I spent 3 months in a psychiatric hospital. It was incredibly shit for a whole raft of reasons from being horrendously ill, right through to the utterly vile crap they served as food. The worst bit, though, was the impact it had on my children. They really, really suffered. The only thing that made it better for them was that I was close by.

They've now closed the hospital to women. Just women. Not men, they still get local care, but if I got ill now I'd be shipped off an hours drive away from where I live.

So a few of the women where I live have started a campaign. We've been doing pretty well, but we need more support.

If you can spare a moment of your time to sign our petition, we'd be grateful. It's here -

I'm posting this in my usual posting name so I don't get accused of being a fricking spammer again.

It would be absolutely brilliant if it hit 400, brilliant.

Everyone involved is passionate about what we're doing, but for me it's just so, so personal.

I've been ill for bloody ages. Its ruined the whole year, hurt the family and completely fucked up my career. I've gone from being very 'high functioning' to someone who struggles to remember what she is doing during the day.

I really want to make a difference here. I want to make things better for the women who are ill now and I'll badger and cajole people as much as I can to achieve that.

Even if it it annoying or spamming. Grin

Just signed! I came within a hair's breadth of being admitted to hospital with PND so it scares me to death that they shutting hospital beds to women. They only had six to start with! It's absolutely disgraceful. Best of luck with the campaign. Hopefully "they" won't get away with it.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 18/11/2014 17:23

Thank you for signing. I'm so grateful to everyone who takes the time to do so.

I have bipolar so could end up in hospital at anytime, here a git bumping for the evening crowd again.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/11/2014 19:42

I have depression, but luckily have never needed hospital admission, so I know just how vital good psychiatric services and good family support are!

But I probably am a bit of a git - so you aren't wrong, Keema! Xmas Grin

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 18/11/2014 20:38

Thank you for signing.

I'm a total git. Takes one to know one Grin

339 signatures. With it being BOTD, I'm hoping we may creep up to 350.

I hope so.

Lets try and get to 400 by the end of the week.

We just need a few more non gits to sign,

A few of my kittens from when I was breeding

AIBU to think some MNers are gits?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 18/11/2014 21:40

awwwwwww kittens!

They are very cute. We really want to get a cat, but since we're planning on moving house soon we're going to wait until after that.

DH is allergic to cats, but wants one all the same. I'll buy in the piriton in advance.

Any more gits out there who like kittens and want to save fairies?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 19/11/2014 10:49

We've got 363 signatures now. It keeps telling me that there's only 137 to go before we hit 500.

magimedi · 19/11/2014 14:48

Not local to you but have signed and shared.

Have they given any "reason" why they're closing it off to women?

Hope you get a result, good luck

Sure I have pics of very local bluebells, will look later on therefore shamelessly bumping twice

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 19/11/2014 18:11

Red - apparently its because the longer darker nights mean that more men need inpatient treatment.

No, I'm not kidding you.

What they don't say is that these longer darker nights have never meant that they had to close a whole facility to women before, OR that at the start of autumn, they closed a 22 bed male ward elsewhere, which would seem foolish if you know that there's an upswing in demand for male beds at this time of the year. Now wouldn't it.

Unfuckingbelievable Keema

Luck, love and hugs Flowers

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 19/11/2014 18:58

Thank you Bewitched. I remember you from the last couple of meetups. Not been well enough to come to London again this year, but maybe next.

Thanks for rounding up gits. The world needs more gits and so does our petition. Grin

It did cross my mind that if we could get enough gits here, we could have a bumpfight bunfight!

Would be lovely to meet you again, looking forward to next year Smile

mummylin2495 · 19/11/2014 19:21
