In St Albans recently I saw a Snatch-up Alley (note that the omission of the indefinite article is vital to your understanding of the above).

Snatch-up Alley was the result of a local campaign - I think the name was used some years ago but had fallen into disuse.

Always makes me laugh because it runs behind a little pub - one of my neighbours confessed that it was her regular place for a sneaky wee on the way home from the pubs in town.
