A dog became a doggo when it stopped being a doggy. Doggo became more trending / fashionable.

Cat people started it.

I can’t bear kiddo or doggo. Fine for Australians as they do this to a lot of nouns, but for everyone else, no.

Yes, "doggo" is awful but "pupper" is worse!
Another annoyance is the use of "Wowser/s!" which I've heard a lot on the radio recently.

I dunno, I often refer to ddog as doggo, pupple or pup pup - they're just nicknames.

I refer to him as dog at the vets though - that would be a step too farro.

It started in lolcat meme culture back in the late aughts. Back in the nom, fml, I can haz cheeseburger days.

It's dated and overplayed in those circles now since it's been well over 15 years so it's finally breaking through into more mainstream language since that always lags behind.

I quite like danger noodle for some reason but I can't stand snek, pupper, doggo and furbabies and pawrents.

But as to the question- we had a toy dog called Doggo in the 70s , so it goes way back.

I say doggo because I'm a millennial 🤷 I associate it with the doge meme/good boi type speak, as well as stuff like 'can I haz hamburger plz'.

Just part of my generation's internet culture tbh!
