A Viscous attack # 2

Catpiece · 15/08/2025 11:23

Is it okay for me to start a second thread of the highly entertaining viscous attack? Couldn’t see a sequel and don’t want to step foot on anyone’s toes
edited to add: I’m Cattery but with a name change x

@SchnizelVonKrumm , or ubiquitous to mean popular or desirable.

Newly-built flats are usually 'stunning apartments'.

Catpiece · 06/09/2025 13:04

Every selfie posted on SM is “stunning” hun. Er, it’s not but people buy into this rubbish because it validates them (hun)

Stunning luxury apartments!

I'll never forget that series of The Apprentice when one team chose the name "Degenerate". Lord Sugar asked them if they understood what it meant. They didn't.
Also a classic, when they branded something "Artic" when they meant Arctic.

Catpiece · 06/09/2025 15:37

@Cathandkin Oh yes! Artic! 😱

May have already been mentioned, haven’t rtft yet, but so many times - its importance cannot be underestimated.

PoolHog · 06/09/2025 16:06

Weight instead of weigh or weighed. I keep seeing it, recently.

’I weight myself.’

’I weight nine stone.’

PendantScorner · 04/09/2025 15:03

Words fail me! 😆

Sorry, I pinched the one about 'Tuna' Turner from FB. I didn't even see the other one! No idea how that got there.

SchnizelVonKrumm · 06/09/2025 12:09

I'm like that about the word "iconic" (usually used to mean "quite well-known").

Also "stunning" to mean "quite nice".

I am sick to death of things being described as iconic. It puts me right off and makes me doubt the intelligence of whoever's saying it. I love the Sewing Bee but I really had to grit my teeth during the Icons week because every designer/singer was 'iconic' and I think I counted about 17 uses of the word before I gave up. But maybe I should've got the hint from the title.

PendantScorner · 06/09/2025 19:07

@SchnizelVonKrumm , it wasn't the Tuna Turner.

PendantScorner · 06/09/2025 19:42

What do we make of much easier to pronounciate than French?

I saw that one 😂 It's a brave effort ... "Pronounce" with shades of "enunciate".

One might even call it a stunning, iconic effort!

PendantScorner · 06/09/2025 20:04

I was tempted to post "Might it be better to learn English first?'

Cathandkin · 07/09/2025 09:27

A good one on a political thread -
"People are concerned about family's ect".

TheaBrandt1 · 08/09/2025 10:36

“I’ve put on weight because of my sedative lifestyle”.

Another “wrong but weirdly kind of right” one !

PendantScorner · 08/09/2025 10:49

Seen on other threads: Fedelity and rediculous. Both were repeated therefore unlikely to be typos.

Catpiece · 08/09/2025 11:18

Another FB corker “I’m just putting the fillers (feelers) out” 😱

Tallisker · 08/09/2025 12:24

Rediculous is becoming more (ridiculously) common.

CalzoneOnLegs · 08/09/2025 12:26

Did any E-Glide person catch ‘Faux-Par’ recently

MagpiePi · 08/09/2025 12:37

i did quite like cowtowing that I saw recently. I wondered if it is similar to cow tipping.

I'm imagining a cow on waterskis behind a speedboat.

PoolHog · 08/09/2025 19:17

I keep seeing exasperated instead of exacerbated.

TheaBrandt1 · 08/09/2025 20:34

I’ve piqued too early in this thread.

Maybe you're loosing the plot.

I think you meant 'to early' ?
