Well that's a new one on me. I've just found it in the description of an item on a well-known auction site.

I have seen Aresole cream on a shopping list - the mind boggles

Edited

Anusol? Pretty much the same thing.

You dont tend to put Anusol on your strawberries though do you?

Or do you?

No but it is arsehole cream.

Not aerosol though. I hope whoever wrote the list got the cream they actually needed.

I still think about our local fb group and the poor individual who lived in a coldly sack.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 06/08/2025 08:17

I have recently seen ‘pylon’ for pile on. It made me smile.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 06/08/2025 09:58

What's getting me at the moment is car adverts (I'm not even buying a new car, I just seem to be inundated with ads on Facebook). Citrones and Reneaus as far as the eye can see and I want to shout 'it's written on the damn car! And if it's not it's on the logbook, and if that's too much trouble just Google it!'

That's brilliant. I saw "sweet baby cheeses" on here the other day Grin

What does Xmas have to do with babybels? Baby cheeses.

Language is an amazing thing. Lots of people on the thread have misread the title and typed 'corn of copia', and others have read their posts and copied their spelling. The spelling I found is what I put in the title. With the extra 'R' in it.

Not that I'm being a pedant or anything...😂

Quiet rite too point it out. Not that I'm putting you on a peddle stall mind.

Maybeitllneverhappen · 06/08/2025 10:13

Not just on social media though. Looking for an air fryer for my mum yesterday and discovered on their website an own brand model with "one draw".

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 06/08/2025 10:25

All these slightly wrong words and their meanings really make me smile. I especially enjoy when someone uses a well known saying but doesn't quite get it right. Recently there was "Revenge is best served cold" which should be revenge is a dish best served cold. I liked that. Although, I get the rage when I am corrected and can't stand pedantry IRL. 🤷

To my shame I didn't notice until yesterday evening that OP says 'corpia'. I read it as 'copia'. Guilty as hell, your honour. The only thing I can say in mitigation is that I noticed it myself, before it was pointed out, but as I didn't post then, no one will believe me. Smiley.

I don't mind, as long as it is not done to humiliate or in one-upmanship.

For example, if I said a place name incorrectly, a 'it's Froom not Frome', I'd learn.
if they said, 'Ha ha, everybody knows that's not how you say it', I'd mind.

I saw a soot case on marketplace the other day. It amused me.
i sometimes waste too much time on a FB page illiterate Britain and my favourite for a while has been someone whose friend works in a furniture whorehouse.

'Sweet Baby Jesus'

It does make me wonder whether the Magi missed a trick. They should have taken Gold, Frankincense and Babybel. 😁

I always wondered what a baby would want with a female horse anyway…😀

Eightdayz · 06/08/2025 15:23

Were they selling multiple Chester draws?

YouOKHun · 06/08/2025 15:56

Mange tout indeed @soupyspoon or ‘Man Get Out’. I saw this on a meme so possibly iffy provenance but perfectly possible given the Corn of Copia of aresole cream and sweet baby cheeses.

We have to hope people selling Volvos are more accurate!

We always have a net of Babybels in the manger in our nativity scene.

@ErrolTheDragon

They do tend to go off after a couple of days!

There are dinosaurs in santa hats though...

My friend once wrote to me on WhatsApp, “That’s a fraudulent slip” instead of “Freudian slip”

Borka · 05/08/2025 22:06

I'm fairly sure that's a joke.

Archers' fans may recollect various chat forum references to the son of Helin the Cheesemaker as the Baby Cheesus...
